And So Romeo Forgot His Lines {13}
Alex and I went downstairs later to eat the dinner that Lizzy had made. The front door opened and mom appeared in the kitchen.”Lizzy it smells wonde- Hello!” She smiled at Alex and stuck out her hand. “Alex Arnold, correct? I’m Seamus’s mom. You probably don't remember me.” Mom and Alex shook hands and mom sat down.
We began to eat. “So what exactly is this project?” mom asked. “We just care for a plastic baby,” I said with a shrug. Mom looked confused. “What does that teach you? You just shove it under your bed all day and say you cared for it.”
I nodded and continued eating. Alex checked her phone and stood up. “My mother’s here. Bye Seamus,” she said nastily. “Bye Mrs. Fitzpatrick. It was nice meeting you!” And she left.
“Why didn’t you correct her?” I asked, setting my food down. Mom looked confused. “She said Mrs. Fitzpatrick.” Mom nodded. “She did. What’s wrong with that?” I glared. “Mrs. means you have a husband,” I said coldly. Mom sighed. “I do have a husband, Shame.” I stood up angrily. “No you don’t!” I cried. “You don’t have a husband! He’s gone mom!” I screamed at her.
“Seamus!” she snapped. “Shut up! Just shut up you naïve fuck! Why am I the only one that sees that dad is gone?” My anger exploded and mixed with the pain of losing my dad. My hero. “He’s gone and he’s not coming back!” I yelled and flipped the table so that the dishes crashed and shattered on the floor.
“Seamus!” Lizzy begged. “Calm down!” “No! Shut up! HE’S GONE!” I ran out of the house and down the street.
I walked to Jer’s. Jer’s dad always knew what to say when I was in one of these moods. I knocked on the front door and Mr. Reed, Jer’s dad, let me in. “Hello Seamus. Jer’s not here right now. He’ll be back pretty soon if you want to stay.” I nodded.
He eyed me. “What’s wrong?” We sat down on the couch. “Well, I got in a fight with my mom,” I said and sighed. “About my…yea.” He nodded, understanding. The front door opened and Jer came in. “Shame? What’s wrong?” he asked in concern.
I shook my head. “Nothing important. Can I stay over your place tonight?” Jer and his dad nodded. The next day at school, I went up to Alex.
“I don’t have Bob,” I said. She glared. “Seamus! We need Bob for Living! Call someone to bring him to school.” I glared. “I can’t. They’re mad at me.” “Well so am I!” I rolled my eyes. “You’re always mad at me.”
She glared. “Gee Seamus, I wonder why.” I shrugged. “Dunno.” She slapped me and I sighed. “We need to work on that. You’re really weak.” “And you’re really annoying.” “Well, you’re really stupid.” “You’re stupider!” “Alex. Stupider is not a word. It’s more stupid.” “……..”
I chuckled and walked away from her to sit down.
She followed me. “You need to get Bob back or she’s going to fail us Seamus!” she begged. I grinned. “I’ll get him back. For a kiss.”
***Alex’s POV***
“No way you fag!” I cried. I wasn’t going to kiss him! He grinned. “Looks like we’re failing.” I nervously chewed my lip. If I failed the project I would fail the class. If I failed the class mother and daddy would take my cell phone away.
Oh god the horror!
I sighed. “Please Seamus. I’ll do anything else!” I said desperately. He shook his head. “It’s a kiss or a failed project.” I was desperate. I couldn’t fail this!
Hating my life, I kissed his lips.
