Keep Moving, Life Doesn't Stand Still
I woke up sitting up from a lying position on a small bed with Sam next to me like me seeming to gasp for air. Both of us turn to look at the other before a scream escapes our lips in terror as I bounce into the wall and Sam bounces onto the floor. A loud yelp of pain followed. I looked around the room we were in, and it looked nothing like the room I died in. Wait, I died?
'We both did, I think' i heard a familiar voice in my head. Looking towards my brother both of our eyes were still wide from shock. How are we alive then.
After a moment of trying to process how we are here we begin to get up out of the bed. After helping Sammy up we walk towards the bathroom. I have him help me take my jacket and dress off, both are covered in blood and the dress completely destroyed. I looked at my chest and noticed blood still caked on, I damped a wash cloth and began wiping away the blood, noticing that as I was wiping there was no sign of a wound, no blood pouring out, and no scar to even say I had been cut with an ax. Sam looked in disbelief of my chest not believing what we were both seeing. I helped Sam lift his shirt up, he looked like he was having a hard time. As Sam turned to look at his back, he winced in pain. On his back in the center was a scar, blood slightly caked on. As I went to grab another washcloth, the oldest of my two siblings came into the room. He looked shocked at what he was seeing, like he couldn't believe we were there.
"Sammy? Arie? Thank god," he said walking over.
"Hey," Sam said, eyes furrowed. Dean wraps his arms around Sam and I both into a very tight embrace.
"Owwww. Uh, Dean...," Sam says trying to pull away the squeeze was a bit too tight for me as well. Dean quickly releases his death grip and walks back some away from us.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, man. I'm just... I'm just happy to see you both up and around, that's all," Dean tells us. Sam and I share a look before he nods his head, "Come on, sit down".
Dean motions for Sam and me to sit down on the bed across from him. Sam and I share a look again, still trying to figure out how this happened.
"Okay. Dean... what happened to me," Sam asked, "And how is Ariel here"?
"Well, what do you remember," Dean asked.
"Last thing I remember is, I-I saw you and Bobby, and... I felt this pain. This sharp pain, like... white-hot, you know, and then you started running at me, and... that's about it. Before that I'm pretty sure I watched and felt Ariel die in my hands with an ax in her chest," Sam tells him, the last part more accusing than anything else.
"Yeah, that— that kid, stabbed you in the back. You lost a lot of blood, you know.... It was pretty touch and go for a while," Dean tells him, "Ariel still had a pulse when we got to her and the ax wasn't that deep in".
Sam and I shared another look.
"But Dean, you can't— you can't patch up a wound that bad," Sam told him.
"No, Bobby could. Who was that kid, anyway," Dean explained.
"His name's Jake. Did you get him," I asked.
"No, he disappeared into the woods," Dean told us disheartedly.
"We got to find him, Dean. And I swear I'm gonna tear that son of a bitch apart," Sam says rapidly standing up, Dean quickly follows, I stay sitting on the bed, trying to make sense of things that honestly made not one lick of sense.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy, Van Damme. You just woke up along with Ariel, all right? Let's get you two something to eat. Huh? You want something to eat," Dean asks us. Realizing that it has been a while since I last ate I nod as Sam does, "I'm starving. Come on".
We travel some ways down the road to a small diner. Please for all that is holy have pancakes or a nice juicy burger. My stomach growls at the thought. We pick a table to sit at, I sit next to Dean as Sam sits across from us. The waitress grabs our order and walks off. While we wait for our food Sam tells the story of what happened. How I ended up with an Ax in my chest, how Andy died, and how this was something that had been in the works for years. Our food finally arrived, Dean ordered a cheese pizza for the table, I ordered a simple cheeseburger with fries that I had a feeling Sam was, yeah he just took two. Sam being the square that he is ordered a salad. 'Dude, first meal after battle to the death and you order a salad' 'Shut up, Ariel, eat your greasy on a bun'
"Alright you two stop with the twin conversations, and tell me why this happened," Dean said annoyed.
"The demon said he only wanted one of us to walk out alive," Sam explained.
"Well two if you made it out. I was to be with you," I explained.
"He told you that," Dean asked.
"Yes he appeared in my dream. Same as Sam," I told him.
"He tell you anything else," Dean asked. Sam and I shake our heads.
"No. No. That was it. Nothing else. You know, what I don't get, Dean, is if the demon only wanted one of us, then how did Jake and I both get away," Sam asked digging for answers.
"Well, I mean, they left you for dead. I'm sure they thought it was over," Dean says, taking a large bite of pizza and turning away, before talking with his mouth full, "So now that Yellow Eyes has Jake, what's he gonna do with him".
"I don't know. But whatever it is, we got to stop him," Sam tells him.
"Well, hold on. You two need to get your rest. We got time," Dean tells us after taking a sip of his drink.
"No, we don't," Sam says defensively. I nod in agreement.
"Sam, oceans aren't boiling, okay? Frogs aren't raining from the sky. Let's get you your strength back first," Dean tells us. I roll my eyes at the comment.
"Well did you call the roadhouse? They know anything," I asked looking over to Dean.
"Yeah," he says looking away from my stare.
"Dean... what is it," Sam questions.
"The roadhouse burned to the ground. Ash is dead. Probably Ellen— a lot of other hunters, too," Dean tells us. My heart drops to my chest and tears in my eyes.
"Demons," Sam asks.
"Yeah, we think so. We think because Ash found something," Dean tells us.
"What did he find," Sam and I ask at the same time. Dean shakes a little, still freaked when we do that.
"Bobby's working on that right now," Dean tells us.
"Well, come on then. Bobby's only a few hours away," Sam says, moving to stand up. Dean stands as well and grabs Sam by the shoulder. I remained sitting as I was sitting near the wall and had no place to go.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop, Sam, stop! Damn it. You almost died in there, along with Ariel. I mean, what would I 've — can't you just take care of yourself for a little bit, huh? Just for a little bit? If not for you then for Ariel, she needs to have a small break," Dean tells Sam. Sam looks back at me worried that Dean was right, we needed to take a small break. At this I stand up and walk out of the booth to stand near my twin.
"Dean I appreciate that I do, but I think right now we need to worry about what's coming. I'm sorry, no break," I tell him, my eyes appearing sad as I give him the news I know isn't going to sit well with him. Dean looks down shaking his head, knowing he can't tell me no, no matter what I ask. After we pay for the meal, we pack up the hotel room and head out on the road straight to Bobby's.
