I live in the path of totality, so of course I saw the eclipse! It was so cool!

My family and our neighbors walked to the local high school early. Surprisingly, there weren't too many people there, so it wasn't crowded. Our school was one of the schools NASA donated money to for conducting research about the eclipse, so the high schoolers built a research balloon to send up that would collect information. We watched the launching.

So many cool shadows during the time up to the totality! We did the pinhole box camera thing.

My mom also brought the colander.

It was light for a long time. It was only about 20 minutes before the totality that you could tell it was not quite as light as it normally is during the day.

While I was watching the sun through the glasses, it got DARK!! I didn't really notice until I took them off and looked around. Not quite like nighttime, but definitely later evening. What was even more special was that the horizon was glowing all around us, it was just this one little spot that was dark.

This is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I guess if you traveled to chase eclipses you would see others, but it's still a very unique event. Hope you guys got to see it! And didn't loose your sight at the same time!
