Ancient Love
A/N: Hiya! This is my first Ancient Egyptian story and my submission for Golden Writer Writing Contest! She came up with the idea/summary, all I added were names, we then use the inspiration to create our own stories from there :)
There are so many amazing authors participating and if you wanted to check the other books out just head over to Tricia's profile and click "The Place Where Tricia's Golden Writers Fly" reading list :)
Side note - I wanted to try having a theme song for this story (listen to the song it's beautiful), as I already have a playlist forming for the other chapters & I updated this chapter as I posted the wrong version! Whoops

"I will spare him"
Eyes brimming with tears, widen as she looked at the God "you'd do that? For me?" Her voice was soft, yet thick with shock
"I would do anything for you" there was a slight pause before he locked eyes with the mortal "and would hope you'd return the favor"
"Anything. For saving him I'd do anything"
"Would you?"
Without skipping a beat she answered him "yes"
"I want you to return to your world" his voice was strong, concealing the emotions he wanted so desperately to show. Looking away from her expression of disbelief he continued "you do not belong here...you've been here too long"
Summary
Zahra Reizen is an art historian at The British Museum, who just displayed newly archived Ancient Egyptian artifacts, brought in from the latest archaeological excavation for their new exhibition. These being; three vases which are intricately painted telling the story of young Pharaoh Ahmessekaten's life and his historically brutal death, along with canopic jars which are believed to belong to this young Pharaoh.
Since the arrival of the artifacts, Zahra falls asleep with dreams of a world that is not her own. She dreams of a time in Ancient Egypt when the young Pharaoh Ahmessekeraten ruled the sandy land, as if she was actually living through it every time she closed her eyes. She is herself in these dreams, not a person from the past, and she is convinced that these dreams transports her into the past.
With each dream, the vase's paintings change ever so slightly. The more that Zahra and the charming Pharaoh spend together, the more paintings of a beautiful woman appears on the vases. The tether between wanting to stay awake in the present world and wanting to forever slumber in the 18th Dynasty, begins to strain.
As her attraction to the Pharaoh, who she knows is doomed to die a terrible death grows, her own life becomes a race against Death himself - a God that she didn't know existed. Her desire to save a doomed Pharaoh from the past, her own wanton needs in the present, and her strange interactions with an Egyptian God of Death lead to an amazing Egyptian Mythology tale.
Main Theme
Hurts Like Hell - Fleurie
...I loved, and I loved and I lost you
And it hurts like hell
Yeah, it hurts like hell
I don't want them to know the secrets
I don't want them to know the way I loved you
I don't think they'd understand it, no
I don't think they would accept me, no...
