WHEN SHE WAS young, Isabelle Castiel loved her home. She loved the tall, white colonial style home that had been in her family for hundreds of years. The Castiel family was once witch royalty in New Orleans, but that was before the Mikaelson's came to town.

As a young child, Isabelle only heard whisperings about the Mikaelson's. When she was around, adults would speak in hushed tones or force her to leave the room. But she was a bright girl, and managed to piece together that the family was to be feared.

But after the Mikaelson's came to town, the Castiel family were forced to follow their rules. They did everything the Mikaelson's asked obediently, fearful of the consequences if they didn't. The only one who didn't cower at the Mikaelson name was Rosemary Castiel, who joined the family as soon as they arrived in New Orleans.

They were talented witches and warlocks, but they weren't fighters. That's why when witch hunters came, it was easy for them to pick the Castiel's off.

Isabelle had been at school when they came, so when she went home, she was fearful when she saw a girl she instantly recognized, Hayley Marshall-Kenner. Hayley was the alpha to the Crescent wolf pack at the time and the mother of the tribrid, Hope Mikaelson.

Mary had called Hayley when she heard about the slaughter of the family, and hoped Hayley would be able to help track the hunter's scents.

When Hayley saw Isabelle, she instantly knew she was a Castiel. She had the trademark blonde hair. She had tried to calmly tell Isabelle that there had been an accident, but how do you tell a child that their entire family's dead?

Isabelle had silently cried, letting tears roll down her cheeks. But she didn't weep or sob, she just felt sad. Hayley had felt sympathy for the child, knowing her young daughter was devastated when she was separated from her father, aunt, and two uncles a few months before.

So Hayley took Isabelle in, and from that day on, she was a Mikaelson. Freya Mikaelson taught her how to do powerful spells and Hayley Marshall showed her how to fight.

She was then sent to the Salvatore school with Hope Mikaelson, and she's been there ever since. Now, she's a fighter, and she's going to fight, always and forever.
