slugged.
THAT AFTERNOON, JOSIE and Isabelle walk into rehearsal for the talent show late. They're arms are entwined, and they're both drinking slushees. All of the witches pause, looking at Lizzie to see how she'll react.
"Are we late?" Josie asks, knowing very well that they're late.
"Where are the canes?" Lizzie counters, making Isabelle giggle.
"Here's the thing... we went to find them, looked for like an hour, and found absolutely nothing. We didn't wanna stress about some stupid canes, so we gave up and went to get slushees."
"Okay, that's fine," Lizzie takes a deep breath, trying to remain calm since she's trying to be more chill. "Why don't you two just take your usual places?"
"Actually, we were talking and decided we don't like doing the same thing every year," Isabelle crosses her arms, grinning at Josie mischievously. "It's boring."
"Yeah, so we wanna scrap the routine. Do something completely different," Josie finishes for the Castiel girl, walking over to Penelope, who's amused with their behavior. "It'd be super fun, right? And without the canes. It'd be fun."
"But, this is the routine we do every year, because we win," Lizzie points out, not liking this idea at all. "Every year."
"Winning isn't everything, Lizzie," Isabelle frowns at her. "Me and Jo actually wanna sing a song together. Our voices together are... angelic."
"And then everybody can contribute some choreography, and it can be like a real collaboration, hmm," Josie quips as her and Isabelle wrap their arms around Lizzie. "Doesn't that just sound... nice?"
"Mhm."
After practicing some, Isabelle goes to another class, the one where she's learning how to make a healing potion. She grins once Rafael takes a seat next to her. "I'm so glad you're here."
"Anything to avoid the wolves talking about that stupid talent show," Rafael sighs, making her laugh. "Apparently, deciding what we do is a... an alpha thing."
Isabelle mixes her gel as he talks, and the teacher looks at the entire class. "Once you have your gel mixed, make a shallow cut on your volunteer."
Isabelle then picks up a scalpel, giving Rafael a curious expression. "Do you trust me?"
"You know I do," Rafael answers as Isabelle leans toward him, cutting a clean slice across his cheek. Rafael doesn't even flinch, focusing on her instead of the pain.
Isabelle then takes some of the potion on her fingers, gently pressing her fingers to the cut. Within seconds, the wound shuts itself and Isabelle smiles victoriously. Knowing she's got a good grade on the project, she decides to talk to Rafael. "So... what do you think the wolves are gonna do for the talent show?"
"One of the wolves is gonna teach me to juggle."
At this, Isabelle bursts out laughing, trying to imagine Rafael juggling. The mental image only makes her laugh harder. She then gets an idea. "Wanna get out of here?"
Normally, neither would skip the rest of their classes, but Isabelle has a slug in her head making her do things without thinking and Rafael is just crazy about her. So when she offers him her hand, he takes it and the two slip out of the classroom without being seen.
They then go to the clubhouse, and Isabelle grins at Rafael, pressing him against a nearby wall. He returns her look, his hands settling on her waist as she rests her hands on either side of his neck. She draws him into a lingering kiss, where the slug infects him.
When she pulls away from him, she has a dark look in her eyes. "The urn is in here somewhere. You wanna drive when we find it?"
"Not so fast," Hope intervenes, stepping into the clubhouse stealthily. Rafael goes to attack her, his eyes shining a brilliant werewolf green, but Hope uses a spell before he can. "Icaeus!"
"That wasn't very nice, Hope," Isabelle scoffs as Rafael hits a nearby wall, falling unconscious. Isabelle then goes to attack her friend, but Lizzie walks in before she can, siphoning some of Isabelle's magic.
Isabelle yelps in pain, jerking away from the Saltzman girl. Hope and Lizzie surround her as Isabelle gets into a defensive stance, ready to take them on. "Izzy, this isn't you. Don't do this. You're good."
"No, I'm not," Isabelle snaps, doing a backwards flip and kicking Hope in the face. The Mikaelson girl falls backwards, but before she can go for Lizzie, Lizzie snaps a spelled bracelet onto her wrist.
Lizzie got it while she was in Europe, and it's spelled to zap a person when they're being negative. So the second it snaps onto Isabelle's wrist, the girl lets out another cry of pain, the slug falling out of her nose as she does so.
Once she becomes coherent again, she stomps on the slug, looking around in horror at what she'd done to Hope. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
"It's okay," Hope assures her, motioning to how quickly she healed. "I'm fine."
They then fix Rafael, and the witches do a spectacular performance. They even win the talent show.
And just as they thought everything was good, Alaric gets slugged and throws the urn in the river. This leads to Alaric, Emma, Dorian, Kaleb, Josie, Lizzie, and Hope going to look for the urn, and Isabelle, Rafael, Landon, and MG to spend their spring break on a trip that'll lead them to finally figure out what Landon is.
