RAFAEL THEN RUNS away from Isabelle before she can reply, so she tracks him to the school's clubhouse. When she finds him, he looks like he's having trouble controlling his anger, because his eyes are glowing green and he's breathing heavily, like he needs to take his anger out on someone or something.
She approaches him quickly, not afraid of him. She's seen Jed like this on more than several occasions, so she knows what to do to get him to calm down. "Raf!"
However, before she can do anything to help him, he shakes his head at her, wanting her to stay away. But she needs him to calm down. If he still wants her to stay away after that, she will. "I told you to leave me alone."
"No."
"No?" He raises an eyebrow at her, making an effort to shove her away when she reaches for him. Her grip is gentle but firm. "You need to stay away. It's not safe-"
He's cut off as she presses her lips to his. His eyes close as he eases into the kiss, finding that he enjoys the feeling he gets when he does this. It's unlike anything either of them have ever felt before.
She gingerly brings her hands to his neck, her hands glowing white as she uses her powers to tell his body to calm down. And it does exactly that.
After she hears his heart return to its normal pace, she pulls away and stares at him, confused by how the kiss made her feel. She liked it. She hasn't liked kissing anyone since Jed. Every time she's kissed someone since her and Jed broke up, all she could think about was her ex-boyfriend. But the only person on her mind right now is the one in front of her, who's just as puzzled by the kiss as her.
"How did you do that?"
"You've probably heard the stories about me by now. How I have the angel Raziel's blood in my veins," Isabelle answers, and like she'd expected, he nods. People had told him about her angelic blood. "Well, my blood makes me special. I'm able to do things no other witches can, like do certain spells without incantations."
"Is that what you just did?" He questions, wondering why she had to kiss him to do it. He likes her, that kiss just confirmed that for him.
"Yeah," she whispers, suddenly becoming aware of how close they are to each other. She tentatively pulls away from him, feeling herself blush. "When I kissed you, you were caught off guard. You opened your mind to me, so I could use my powers to tell your body that you need to calm down."
"So... you basically just compelled me?"
"I'm not a vampire, so it wasn't compulsion," she points out, scrunching her nose at that. Personally, she hopes she never becomes a vampire. It'd be a bit too much for her. "It was more of a suggestion."
"That's crazy," Rafael chuckles, learning more and more about her every moment he spends with her. Her face fosters, and she explains to him why she thinks he should submit.
"I have the same anger issues you, Jed, and all other wolves have. I've just had to learn how to control how I act, because my powers can be affected by my feelings. If I lose control, people could be hurt. And talking about getting hurt, I don't want you to. You need to submit, Raf. Jed will come after you if you don't."
She says this, meaning every single word. He frowns with disgust at the mention of joining the pack, so she continues, practically begging him. "He's an alpha. You're a beta. Beta's don't survive without a pack. That's just how it is-"
"Izzy."
She trails off as he points to the top of the clubhouse, which is covered in unnatural cobwebs. It looks as though thousands of spiders had done it since she'd been there just a few days ago. But that's impossible. "What the hell?"
Her and Rafael then go to investigate, all of their senses on alert. Once they reach the top of the clubhouse, they find a body covered in webs, and Isabelle instantly recognizes the girl. The town sheriff, Matt Donavan has been looking for this girl and Dana. "Sasha."
The mundane's eyes then open, sending both of the supernatural being's shooting back in shock. As they do so, Rafael gets stuck on the webs. Isabelle watches him struggle, her eyes widening. "Iz, I'm stuck."
She attempts to free him, only for him to move an inch and get both of her hands stuck on the material above his shoulders. They share troubled glances before glancing back at Sasha, not wanting to know what kind of being is able to do this kind of work. "Me too."
"Can you witch us out of here?" Rafael deadpans, only for her to stare at him, unable to believe what he just said.
"I need my hands to do a spell like that," she says, nodding to her hands, which she can't move. Unsurprisingly, she becomes aware of just how close they are and finds herself flushing once again. "And by the way, I'm sorry about kissing you without asking."
"Don't be."
They stare at each other for a moment before a mundie boy Isabelle recognizes from Mystic Falls High walks into the room with an unreadable expression on his face. "Connor..."
At his name, he turns to face her, only to reveal that part of his face looks like a spider's. Rafael curses as Isabelle struggles against the cobwebs, attempting to get her hands free. "That's not Connor."
The monster's human face then begins to peel off, showing its spider form and it begins climbing the wall towards them. Isabelle racks her mind for an offensive spell, thankful she studies offensive magic with Josie, unlike all of the other witches at school. She manages to wedge her hand free just enough, and focuses her powers on the monster. "Ignarious."
A fireball shoots from her hand, hitting the monster's back. It lets out inhuman cries as part of it bursts into flames, and it falls back onto the hard ground. However, when they glance back at it, the being is in its full form, a humungous spider. Isabelle gapes, having a special hate for spiders ever since her and Hope had found one in her room at the Mikaelson compound in New Orleans several years ago. The being crawls towards them slowly, the way a predator would check out its prey.
But Isabelle and Rafael aren't prey. They're predators. So Isabelle kicks into high gear, using heavenly fire to burn the cobwebs off of herself. Heavenly and hell fire don't burn her. She then turns to Rafael, not wanting to burn him. "Uanascar."
As soon as he's freed, Landon rushes into the clubhouse with a crowbar in his hands. He turns to the spider, glaring at it. "Hey! Douchebag!"
The spider then glances at him, completely terrifying him. He shrinks away from it as Hope runs into the clubhouse fearlessly, looking relived once she lays eyes on her best friend, who's perfectly fine. But when she sees the spider, she huffs, disgust coming across her face as she remembers her and Isabelle's first tragic encounter with a spider. "I hate spiders."
The Saltzman twins hurry into the room as Isabelle greets her friends. While they do this, Rafael grabs Sasha's body and gets her a safe distance away. The group then join hands, the twins siphoning magic from the witch and the tribrid, the group going against the spider.
"Repeat after me," Hope instructs as they begin to chant a spell in unison. As they do so, the twins's hands glow red as they siphon magic. "Imperium fluctus malleus. Imperium fluctus malleus. Imperium fluctus malleus. Imperium fluctus malleus. Imperium fluctus malleus."
The spell forces the spider against a nearby wall, and then it gets hit with a ridiculous amount of energy only a powerful witch could muster. The begin explodes, covering the area and the girls in orange goo. Isabelle pulls away from her friends, snarling in her nose in disgust at what she's covered in. "This outfit is getting burned later."
"Can't say I blame you for that," Hope remarks, narrowing her eyes at her own outfit. The four girl's then walk out of the clubhouse together, with Rafael, MG, and Landon watching them do so. All of the boys look hesitant about something, like they don't know what they're gonna do next, especially since Dana's dead and Sasha isn't.
So group head back to the school grounds, and clean up. Isabelle does, in fact, burn her clothes, thankful to get into her clean pajamas before going to make sure Sasha's okay.
Once she gets there, MG begins to compel Sasha, while Isabelle and Lizzie watch somberly. "You're gonna be fine. There was a party in the woods. You and Dana had the time of your lives. But on the way home, you guys were attacked by a mountain lion. You survived and Dana didn't. There was nothing you could do."
As soon as he stops speaking, Dana gapes at him, looking as though somebody had punched her in the gut at the news of her best friend's death. "Dana's dead?"
"Just take it all away," Lizzie tells the vampire, only for Isabelle to take a step towards her to intervene, knowing that's not a good idea. "Tell her not to feel anything."
"No, that could make her go crazy," Isabelle interjects, knowing firsthand that making someone not grieve their loved one could make them lose their mind. Hope's dad, Klaus Mikaelson had once done that to a girl, Cami O'Connell, before she became his lover. She had thought she was losing her mind when she suddenly stopped grieving over her dead brother. Isabelle takes a deep breath, thinking of what to tell him before deciding very carefully what MG should say. "Tell her the pain of losing Dana will always be there. And at first, it'll hurt a hell of a lot. But eventually, she'll learn to live with the pain and she'll move on. She'll look back at the good times they had together, instead of crying over lost time."
"Isabelle-" Lizzie starts, reaching for her friend to comfort her once she sees the sadness on her face. Isabelle, however, pulls away from the blonde.
"I actually have somewhere to be, so..."
With that, she turns on her heel and goes to the gym, where she knows the pack will be playing ball. Rafael had texted her and asked her to meet him there, and she smiles at him once she sees him outside the gym. However, her smile is a bit forced. "Are you sure.. that this is something you wanna do? Because once you join, there's no going back."
"You saw what they did to me," he reminds, making her feel her heart sink gently. She knows they won't give up until he joins the pack, but it should still be his choice. "I don't think going lone wolf's an option anymore. Do you?"
"You shouldn't really be asking me that," she counters, making him give her an odd look. She shrugs. "I'm part of a coven."
"Look, after Cassie died, I thought Landon was the only pack I'd ever have," he sighs, wishing things could go back to the way they once were. When things were simple. "I didn't think that I needed anyone else. Be honest with me. Is this school, these people... keeping Landon here-is it worth it?"
"The school isn't perfect," the blonde replies, playing with her fingers nervously. "But this school-we're family. We protect each other. So, yes. I think it is. What do you think?"
She raises an eyebrow at him as a big ball rolls their way. One of the pack member's notice Isabelle and Rafael, and point to the ball. "Little help?"
Isabelle doesn't make a move to pick up the ball, knowing she can't lift it from when she used to try to play with Jed. So Rafael picks up the ball, and walks over to Jed, who glares at him. "Foster kid. You back for more?"
"I killed my girlfriend. It was an accident. I was behind the wheel, and I lost control. When I woke up, I was in the hospital. Landon had to tell me that she was dead, and I don't know anything else. Am I part of the pack now?"
