welcome.
"WHAT THE HELL, Dr.Saltzman?" Isabelle Fray breathes as she watches Dr.Saltzman climb out of his black SUV with Hope right behind him. Two boys Isabelle doesn't recognize come out right behind them, but Isabelle isn't focused on them. She's busy narrowing her eyes at the head master of her school furiously. "Why didn't you let me come?"
Her and her best friend, Hope have been going with their headmaster, Alaric Saltzman on recruitment missions for years. But Alaric and Hope hadn't told her about this one, they just went to Atlanta without her. That's why she had to find out about their last minute trip from Alaric's twin daughters, Lizzie and Josie.
"We couldn't find you," Hope replies with a simple shrug. She gives her friend an innocent smile, but Isabelle's angry expression doesn't falter. "Come on, Iz. It's not a big deal."
"It kind of is," Isabelle points out, knowing she's acting petty. But she likes going on the recruitment trips, unlike Hope. "I missed all of the fun."
"Don't be so dramatic, Izzy," Lizzie intervenes, focusing on the new boys.
Isabelle only now registers the new guy's presences. One is pale and has sea green eyes. His hair is dark, and because of that, it's not hard for Isabelle to assume he's Landon. He appears to be human. Rafael, on the other hand, is the werewolf Alaric and Hope had gone to Atlanta to recruit. He has dark skin, chocolate brown eyes, and matching hair. He makes eye contact with Isabelle, and she smiles at him, trying not to freak him and his friend out. This is probably overwhelming for both of them. Not that she would know. Her and Hope came to the school when they were seven.
She forces a smile at them as Lizzie and Josie start their trademark introduction to the school. "Welcome to The Salvatore School. We're your tour guides. I'm Lizzie."
Isabelle smiles softly at Lizzie and Josie, having grown used to their twin demeanor. They're polar opposites, but they're dependent on each other. Lizzie is blonde and has blue eyes and Josie has black hair and dark brown eyes. Lizzie is a bit over the top, and can be selfish at times. But it's just because she's witch bipolar. She can't help it. Josie, on the other hand, is as selfless as it comes. She hardly ever focuses on herself.
"I'm Josie," Josie introduces herself with the exact same fake smile Lizzie has pasted on her face.
"Sisters."
"Twins."
"Fraternal," Lizzie clarifies, pointing out of the obvious. "Obvs."
"Rafael, why don't you go ahead with the girls while I talk to Landon," Alaric suggests as the twins greet Hope in unison. The twins whisk Rafael away as Alaric turns to Isabelle. "Isabelle, go with them and make sure they don't scare Rafael off. Then meet me in my office in thirty minutes."
"On it, Dr.S," she nods before running after the trio. When she catches up to them, she offers Rafael her hand. "I'm Isabelle, but my friends call me Izzy, Iz, or Isa. Basically anything but my name."
"I'm Rafael," he replies, shaking her hand gently. Isabelle retracts her hand as the trio walk towards the witch classrooms and the twins continue on their tour.
"Everybody gets along with everybody here, for the most part. The werewolves are pretty cliquey. They like to hang with their own. In defiance of the school's commitment to inclusiveness. That is why we volunteered to be your tour guides. To give you a good witch welcome before your hairier brethren corrupt you."
The group then stop in front of the classroom, peering into the room full of promising witches and warlocks. Josie then points to their librarian, Dorian Williams. He's human, but he knows all about the supernatural world. "That is our librarian, Mr.Williams. He's subbing for our Chemistry of Magic teacher, who accidentally incinerated himself last week in hellfire."
"I told Mr.Graymark it was a bad idea ," Isabelle reminds them with a frown, thinking about how horrid the classroom has smelled since.
"Burned all the hair off his body, but didn't leave a scar," Lizzie matches her friend's expression, disgusted but slightly intrigued. Her expression becomes pure disgust once she spots Josie's ex-girlfriend, Penelope Park sitting in the front of the classroom. "She who shall not be named."
"Talking about her gives her power," Josie remarks, still hurt over the breakup. Isabelle has always liked Penelope, because she knows that there's a kind soul behind the bitchy facade that she puts up.
Isabelle glances over at Josie, seeing her somber expression before Isabelle smiles dramatically. "Okay, guys. Lets move this to the turret. We can show Raf where the seniors smoke."
"What do they smoke, eye of newt?" Rafael remarks, scrunching his nose in disgust, only for Isabelle to give him an intrigued look.
"Of course not. They smoke weed."
