Lucy Grey is the daughter of Meredith Grey had her as a teenager and she was put up for adoption because even though she wanted to keep her daughter Meredith was forced to give her daughter away by her mother Ellis Grey to protect the reputation of the family.

Lucy ended up following in her mother and grandmothers footsteps and became a doctor however after finishing med school her adoptive mother died leaving her with her adoptive father grew cold towards her after loosing the love of his life. After becoming alone in the world she decided to move to Seattle to do her residency and find her birth mother but she didn't expect to find her in the same hospital she works at.

But she grows cold towards her mother after she goes back to her Ex Derek Shepparf and feels like she's leaving her again.
