A train ride and short walk later, Peter is back at home. May is working and won't be home until later so he decides that now would be a good time to start his Spider-Man patrol. He rushes to his room and grabs his suit from the back of his wardrobe. May learnt long ago not to fiddle with stuff in his room ever since she opened his desk drawer and found his webbing chemicals had poured everywhere. Peter had managed to pass it off as science homework gone wrong but he thinks she still finds it suspicious.

He gets out of his clothes, stumbling around and accidentally bashing himself on pieces of furniture until he's left in his boxers and binder. He glances at himself in the mirror and looks away quickly. The only downside about being Spider-Man (besides getting beaten and threatened by thugs) is that he can't wear his binder in the suit. Mr Stark had adapted the suit so that it flattened his chest as much as it could without causing him any damage, but it was still not as flat as he would have liked. He takes off his binder and quickly pulls on the suit so as to avoid seeing his chest. He presses the symbol on his chest and the suit tightens over him so that he no longer resembled a red and blue potato sack.

He takes another look at himself in the mirror and smiles. Although the suit doesn't enhance his powers in any way, he feels stronger and more confident when he wears it. He doesn't feel like 'that-nerdy-trans-kid-Peter-Parker' any more. Instead, he's the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, fighting crime and helping people. He walks over to his open window, perches on the ledge, and pulls on his mask. Lights and pop-ups appear before his eyes and he has to blink a few times to adjust to it.

"Hello, Peter. How was your day?" a voice says in his ear.

"Hey Karen," he replies, adjusting his web-shooters. "It was alright."

"Just alright?" she responds.

"I mean, it was good I guess," he responds. "There was a fight at school with Flash but Calvin stood up for me which was nice of him. And when we waited outside of Mr Wright's office we kind of kissed and- " he stops rambling, embarrassed that he had just ranted to his suit's AI.

"It sounds like Calvin really cares about you," Karen suggests. Peter shrugs, still feeling embarrassed from their conversation.

"Yeah." He shakes his head and starts to focus on what's going on around him. "Karen, give me a scan of the area and tell me what's going on."

"Right away, Peter." A few red symbols appear to his left, showing him that something is happening nearby.

"There is a robbery happening on East 38th Street," Karen says.

"Then let's go help," he says. He stands on the ledge and takes a deep breath before leaning forward and falling off. The wind rushes past him, creating a high-pitched whistling noise. The ground zooms closer to him and a beeping warns him that he's getting too close to the floor but he doesn't pull up until the very last second. He webs onto a nearby building and yanks himself up so that his feet lightly brush the floor. He lets out a 'whoop' as he flings himself into the air and lets go of his web, allowing himself to free fall. He lets out a sigh of relief as all the stress of being Peter Parker falls away. He's just Spider-Man. And he has to concentrate.
