Katroina had been leading her through the maze of tunnels for what seemed like hours. It had taken Harriet only a short while to realise that the 'hallways' were only made to look like normal hallways, and if they had tried to escape themselves, they would surely get lost. She had tried time and time again to get more information out of her guide, but getting ignored each time.

It really was quite rude.

About ten minutes later, she stopped. Katroina stopped, too, and turned around, her brown hair hanging over one shoulder. She folded her arms, and looked over at Harriet, seemingly annoyed.

"What. Is. It." The girl snapped, moving her weight to her right leg.

"You can at least tell me where we're going, right?" She sighed looking up at the woman with a raised eyebrow.

Katroina supplied her with a more substantial answer, saying, "You would not find it if I told you."

Harriet leant her head back, and then looked at the other girl again. She was beautiful, but in a harsh way. If people were a mix of curves and angles, she was all angles. Angles, and jagged points.

The brown haired girl rubbed her temples, and glared at Harriet. "What are you looking at."

"Nothing." She said, hurriedly, and started to walk again, picking up her pace. Softly, she muttered, "Nothing... Nothing at all..."

Katroina nodded, and walked slightly ahead of her. She continued to lead Harriet through the tunnels, going in directions that she decided we're the most illogical.

She's trying to confuse me.

Took you long enough.

Harriet jumped back, and cursed under her breath.

Are you just here to make snarky comments, or will you help?

What do you need help with?

She cast an uneasy glance around the 'hallway' they were in. It was plastered in baby pink wallpaper, which was really hard to see through the picture frames if normal, happy families. A magenta rug covered the handsome wooden floor, leaving imprints of their feet even after they had walked over it.

Did you go through a hallway that looked like Dolores Umbridge's office?

...Dolores Umbridge?

Oh, fuck. You don't know about Harry Potter?

I grew up in a desert tribe.

Harriet furrowed her brow, and gave her head a shake. Katroina was still walking ahead of her.

Not an excuse, so I'm going to force you to read the books once we get back to Camp.

I have to go back to the Palace.

She paused. Of course he had to go back to the Palace. He was the Chosen One, and the Chosen One had to be the King's live in museum exhibit. Even so, it was a life of luxury, and one that any human would be insane to give up. Unless, of course, it was taken from you. Her lip curled bitterly, and she continued to walk.

But I'll try and read the books.

"Through here." Katroina was standing beside a heavy looking door, and holding it open. She gave the other girl a wary look, but went inside. The door opened into a real passage, this time sloping upwards. It was dimly lit by a faint glow. Harriet had never seen anything like it. There was no visible light source, but... These people didn't work for the government, she knew that much. They seemed to have invented another technique of magic. That could be a problem for the government.

"Stop ogling it. Keep walking." Katroina snapped, pushing her forward slightly.

"Jesus, okay."

Harriet, don't trust her.

Why?

Just don't.

What happened? Harriet tried to act normal, but she felt her movements getting stiffer and her body tensing up. She didn't have any weapons, and using magic would be too dangerous. Hand to hand combat was an option, but Katroina looked like she wouldn't be easy to beat.

So she kept waking.

Kadriq hadn't said anything.

Katroina had a hand on her shoulder, and was steering her through the tunnels. Involuntarily, Harriet tensed up and berated herself for doing so. She would notice, wouldn't she? Even if she had noticed, she certainly didn't do anything about it.

The tunnel started to steepen, and Harriet could see a pinprick of bright light at the end of the tunnel. The exit,  perhaps.

Or maybe she could use magic. The others might not be there. It could be safe.

Could being the keyword.

It was too risky, so she decided to let it be. She didn't have many options; it would be better to wait until she had her weapons back before she moved.

She felt Katroina's hand leave her shoulder, and relaxed slightly. The other girl sped up, and Harriet did, too. After a few minutes, the light grew, and she could see outside. The tunnel opened into a scene that could have come out of a movie. Birch trees curved upwards, their branches like hands, reaching to the sky. A light dusting of snow covered the scene, and she looked back to see if their footprints were showing. Surprisingly, the snow was still as pristine as when they were in the tunnel. The biting wind bit her cheeks, so she pulled her shoulders up to shield her face with her collar.

Katroina glanced around, her eyes narrowed and her hands twisting the rings on her fingers. That look didn't seem good for them.

"Something wrong?" Harriet asked, getting nervous. From her experience, when people like Katroina, people made of angles, looked nervous, it was usually a bad sign.

"They should be he-" There was a soft whizz, and a dark buried itself in Katroina's back. The girl toppled to the ground, and Harriet spun around, ready to defend herself.

But against what? There was no one there. The air around her began to tinge blue, when she felt something bury itself in her arm. She looked over. A dart.

A/N:

Sorry that the plot's moving so slowly! I promise, it will pick up the pace soon.
