My heart stopped for a second as the feet disappeared out the window in a blink of an eye.

I answered the phone "Hello" I whispered trembling

"Channy?"

"Xander! Help me! Come to my house, please"

"What do you mean someone came in here?" He asked

"They came through the window and opened my closet where the safe is"

"Who did you tell about the safe other than me?"

"Leo and Irene? I think"

"Was it a man or a woman?"

"I don't know, Xander... I couldn't see"

He sat down on the bed and shrugged "What the hell is happening to you?"

"I don't care what... I care why..."

"I don't get it"

"Me neither," I said sitting down beside him

"Did he take anything?"

"No... everything is here"

"Where's your boyfriend?"

I looked at him annoyingly "Really, Leo?"

"What?"

"I don't know where he is... he didn't answer my call"

"Okay calm down..." he said rubbing my shoulder "Just rest now and we'll see what we're gonna do about that"

"Can you stay?"

"What?"

"Can you stay the night here... with me?"

"Ye-yeah... of course"

"Thank you"

Xander

I sat on a chair I pulled close to the bed to watch her. After what happened today I don't feel that she's safe. I must protect her.

I pulled the covers up to her neck and watched her sleep.

Whoever came in here knew about the safe... What could possibly be in there that would make that person sneak into someone's house like that?

I sat silently waiting for the sleep to take me in

Chanel

I slowly opened my eyes feeling light on my face... I stretched sitting up and sighed, I smiled at Xander who was sleeping on a chair beside my bed.

I got off the bed and went inside my bathroom to take a shower.

Standing under the water feels like at this moment everything is off my shoulder... It's so relaxing...

All I had to think about was Leo... Where is he? Why didn't he answer me yesterday?

The weight came back on me as I slowly stepped out of the bath.

I walked out to Xander arranging my bed "Good morning"

"Morning" I smiled "You don't need to do that"

"Already did" he smiled back

"Chanel?" Mom called knocking on the door and slowly opening it "Oh... Xander"

"Hey Paulina" he smiled at her

"Hey..." She smiled back at him "Antoine let you in, yesterday?"

"Yes" he nodded

"Okay then. You two want breakfast?"

"No, mom. Thank you." I said "We'll go to a cafe somewhere and eat for a change"

"We don't want to tire you, Paulina" he smiled

"Okay. Have a nice day. Xander, take care of her."

"Will do"

"So you fought with them?" Xander asked

"Yeah... They know about this accident. Someone wanted to kill me, Xander. This was not coincidental"

"Who would want that, Chanel?"

"I don't know, Xander! You're my best friend you're the one who should fucking tell me"

He sighed and looked down shaking his head "I don't know"

"You always don't know! You don't know anything!" I stared at him "How are we best friends?"

"Please calm down"

"All you do is say calm down, Xander"

"I've always been there for you... I never left your side, Chanel. Doesn't mean that you never hid anything from me"

"Yes, but the things I ask are ABC friendship..."

"When the accident happened... I wasn't even in the country, I travelled... I only came back for you"

I sighed and looked down "I'm sorry, I'm just so tired of this weird life"

"I understand..." he said extending his hand into mine "It's okay"

I walked into the house with Xander not far behind... I walked into the living room and sat down.

"Hey, you two" Mom said smiling

"Hey, Paulina" Xander answered taking a seat beside me

"Mia has been here waiting for you since morning"

"Oh... Where is she?"

"She's in the garden, you go sit with her while I get you guys something to drink"

I took Xander and walked out of the back door to the garden to Mia.

"Hey, Chan" she smiled

"Hey, How are you?" I asked sitting down "This is Xander, Xander this is Mia... I don't know if you two know each other or not"

"Hi, Mia"

"It's nice to meet you, Xander"

"You too" she smiled "How's everything with you?" She asked looking at me

"Tiring" I sighed

"Oh, why?"

"Life sucks... Everything is wrong and yesterday someone broke into my room"

"What?" She said shocked

"Yeah... My life has been full of adventures, someone tried to kill me in this accident as the reports said"

"Kill you?"

"Yeah..."

"What the fuck?"

"I don't really know..." I looked at her for a second "Where have you been? Since the hospital"

"Um... I was pretty busy, I travelled and then I had a lot of work and some family problems got in the way..." she sighed and rested back on the chair "I'm so sorry... I know I should've been right here beside you"

"It's okay... You had reasons to be away"

"Not good enough" she shrugged

"There you go, guys" mom said putting the tray down "How's your mother, Mia?"

"She's okay... Problems with dad Of course but it's okay, I got used to it."

We were watching tv, all of us including Mom, Dad, Xander and Mia.

A movie called Upgrade. It's fun, a lot of technology and electronics I don't get. Xander seems very interested, Mia looks like she's just watching because we're sitting with her, Dad keeps Oh-ing at everything and Mom is cringing and complaining about "TECHNOLOGY IS TAKING OVER THE UNIVERSE"

We heard knocks on the door, and I don't mean a knock... I mean knocks.

Mom ran to the door to open while all of us stood up waiting to see who's behind the door.

"Paulina" Aunt Lorain stood in front of the door in tears

"Lorain, what's wrong?" Mom just stood there staring at her

"It's Irene"
