Part 5 (Edited)

The next day, the door bell rang at the Shekawat household and it was opened in a minute or so. The person who opened it was surprised to see the one responsible for the ring.

“She looks beautiful in every attire”, he said to himself.

“Mrs Singh,” he addressed her.

“Good evening, Mr Shekawat”, replied Sanyukta.

“Good evening”.

Sanyukta was trying to frame a sentence and failed badly.

“Where is Kaira?” Sanyukta enquired.

“She is taking her nap”, was Randhir’s reply..

She said, “Oh”, and her face fell. She clutched the brown paper bag and looked at Randhir.

“Er... this is for Kaira. I went for shopping and I thought to get these for her”, Sanyukta said showing him the paper bag.

“What's inside?” asked Randhir.

“Jalebi”, she replied.

“She loves them. I'll give these to her”.

“Okay”, she said and turned to leave. Randhir stood near the door. She  slapped her forehead and made an ‘isshh’ sound and came back to him.

He smiled seeing her cute actions which pulled him more towards her.

Sanyukta said, “I'm such a fool. While going out I gave our house keys to Kaira.”

Randhir asked her to come inside the house and she complied.

He asks her to sit and said, “I'll call Kaira and ask about the keys.”

“That’s okay. Let her take rest. I'll take your leave,” Sanyukta got up to leave.

“But the keys?” Randhir asked.

“That’s not a problem. I'll wait outside. When she wakes up you can give them,” Sanyukta replied.

“Just sit here. I'll search for the keys,” Randhir said.

He started to look for the bunch of keys. First destination was the hall table, then the bookshelf , the top of the cupboard. Sanyukta chuckled seeing him looking under the cushions of the couch.

“Come on, you ladies keep things wherever you like,” Randhir justified.

“I'm not like that,” Sanyukta said.

“Yeah right,” Randhir said and gave an unbelievable look. He gave up and fell back to the chair, tired. “I tried it's not here where she normally keep her things.”

“Chuck it.”

“Coffee?” he proposed.

Before she replied he moved to another room which she guessed was the kitchen and in ten minutes time he came up with two steaming cups of coffee.

He handed one to her and he took the other and settled on the opposite couch.

He saw her hesitating with her cup.

“The coffee won't be that bad. Don't judge it before giving it a try,” he teased.

“That's not the issue, it's just that I'm a black coffee lover,” she replied apologetically.

“You should have told me,”  he said dejectedly.

“You should give me a time too, Mr Shekawat. I can handle a cup and cheat,” she cupped the sides of the cup and took it to her lips and his eyes travelled along.

He was waiting for her reaction. He did not know why it mattered  to  him to know her feedback.

She took a sip and gulped and then a smiled slightly; her lower and upper lips moved in sync to form a tiny mini smile while he had a broad one on his face .

“I must say it's indeed a good and decent one and all ingredients are in the right proportion”, Sanyukta said to Randhir’s delight.

“I told you,” Randhir responded.

They didn't know why they were feeling so comfortable in each other's company.

They were about to start a proper conversation when Kaira came in yawning. At first she was surprised to see Sanyukta and then she realised.

“Hey Kaira”, said Sanyukta.

“Hi Sanyukta,” replied Kaira.

They shared a hug and then Randhir passed the brown cover. Kaira had a twinkle in her eyes.

“Thank you, Sanyukta. I missed these,” saying this she popped one into her mouth and let out a moan. Seeing this Sanyukta and Randhir chuckled.

“By the way Mrs Singh, why did you lie to me?” asked Randhir.

“I? When?” asked Sanyukta.

“About the jalebi, you did,” replied Randhir.

Both the ladies were tongue tied.

“Actually one or two won't do any harm and we shouldn't say no to a would-be mom's wish, it will affect the baby,” Sanyukta mumbled.

“Too much knowledge is no good,” said Randhir and he too ate a jalebi.

“My husband is the best,” kaira said and hugged Randhir from the side.

“You both are so romantic,” Sanyukta complimented them.

Sanyukta asked for the key and Kaira thought for a while and searched the places where Randhir previously did. Randhir gave an ‘I told you’ look to Sanyukta and she smiled in response.

Later, Kaira went to the kitchen followed by the other two and she searched inside the jars and finally she found it inside the biscuit jar.

Sanyukta laughed, Kaira apologised and Randhir shrugged.

Sanyukta after some chitchat left for her home. She went in, kept all the bags and then to her surprise Aarav came home early. She was happy after a long time.
