10 weeks later, Eliza is 24 weeks (6 months) pregnant and is nearing her lying in. The appointment goes smoothly and their son is continuing to grow healthy and strong. Maddy is so excited to have a baby brother and made a picture of the family.

Maddy is playing in her room when there is a loud noise downstairs. Maddy goes downstairs but doesn't see anyone in the living room. She goes into the dining and then the kitchen not seeing her parents, instead sees a tall muscular man who looks upset. She quietly goes upstairs and tells her parents.

Eliza. Hey love. What's wrong.

Maddy. There's a scary man downstairs and he looks mad.

John. Stay here with Maddy. I'll go check it out. Don't go anywhere unless I say so.

Eliza. Alright.

John goes downstairs and sees the intruder. He makes his presence known and cautiously goes over to the man.

John. Who are you and why are you in my house?

The man turns around and smiles recognizing the voice.

Samuel. Hello cousin. I've come to collect my wife. Of course, I'll have to make her my wife.

John. You will never have her. She loves me, not you. And we are expecting a child.

Samuel. Love. That makes me sick. She should be my wife and mother to my children. I have much more money than you. She should have been with me. I guess I will just have to kill you. Then she will be mine as well as her children.

John. You will not touch her! I will not allow you to do so!

Samuel pulls out a gun and points it at John as he cocks it to shoot.

John. Can we not talk this out? Surely, I could find you a lovely young woman who is not married.

Sam. There is no one else I want except Eliza. And if she has children then that puts me ahead for getting children.

John. Very well then. I guess one of us will have to die.

John pulls his gun out and he sets it to shoot. They shoot at each other and miss. John turns around hearing his daughter run downstairs and knows that Eliza is behind her. Just as he turns around, he hears the fire of Sam's gun and feels the cold hard steel of the bullet hit him.

He falls to the floor as several bullets hit him. The last thing he sees before passing out is Maddy's terrified face and Eliza taking the gun and shooting Sam several times. And then her looking scared and hears her calling 911.

He falls into darkness and his eyes fall closed.

Several hours later, John wakes up and sees his abdomen bandaged. He then sees wires and tubes attached to him. He turns his head and sees Eliza holding a sleeping Maddy and sees the baby bump.

John smiles as he strokes her baby bump. He feels their son kicking and is relieved to know that he is alright. He leans over just a bit and kisses the bump as well as Eliza and Maddy. The nurse comes in and smiles sweetly at the scene in front of her. She sets the tray of food on the rolling table in front of John so that he could eat.

John. Thank you.

Georgiana smiles. You're welcome. You have a wonderful family. You were shot five times. You're extremely lucky that your wife called the ambulance in time.

John smiles and gently takes Eliza's free hand. I am. They are my life and world. I would do anything for them. Including stopping my cousin from taking them for his desires.

Ginny. You are a brave person. Well, I'm going to let you eat. I have other patients to see and I'll be back to check your vitals and your wounds.

John. Thank you.

Ginny smiles and leaves to tend to her other patients and John sits up a bit and starts eating. Halfway through his meal, Eliza and Maddy wake up and see John awake and eating. John halves the remaining food and gives it to Eliza and Maddy. He also gives them a water bottle each to go with their lunch.

Eliza. Thank you. This is delicious. So, how are you feeling?

John. A little sore, but it will go away with time. The nurse came in a little while ago and said I had been shot five times and that I was lucky that you called the paramedics in time. Thank you for that. I love you and our daughter and son so much.

Eliza. You're welcome. And we love you too. Maddy was scared that she was going to lose you but I told her that you would be alright and that there was nothing to worry about.

John takes Maddy and holds her gently against him in his lap. Mommy's right. I'm completely fine and I survived thanks to mommy and the doctors. Are you feeling better now?

Maddy smiles. Yeah. I'm not sad anymore. I still have you and mommy and soon a baby brother. I love you all so much.

Eliza and John smile and hug and kiss her.

Eliza. We love you too.

A few minutes later, Ginny returns and checks on John's vitals and wounds. Everything is fine and the wounds are healing very well. The nurse declares that he has a clean bill of health and leaves to tell the doctor. The doctor then gives them the discharge papers and John signs them and they are released from the hospital.

The three of them go home so that John can rest and continue to heal.

Two months later, John is healed and the stitches are taken out. Eliza is 31 weeks (8 months) pregnant and is now in her lying in. The only time Eliza gets out of bed is to use the bathroom, bathe, eat, and walk around the estate.

John comes in with a newspaper and sits down next to Eliza. Hey love. You won't believe this. The media is saying that the citizens are wanting to know the gender of our child. And not just the American citizens but French and English citizens as well. I don't want anyone to know until the child is born.

Eliza. Love, think of it this way. What if I had all of these pregnancy symptoms and I knew that I was pregnant. You would want to know the reason behind these changes, and you would ask me. But I wouldn't tell you, how would you feel about finding out from a stranger or the doctor?

John. I would be upset.

Eliza. Now imagine how the citizens of America, France, and England would feel if we kept them in the dark about the gender of our son until he was born?

John. They would go to great lengths to find out the gender and get answers as to why we waited until the birth.

Eliza. Exactly.

John. Alright. We can tell them whenever you want.

Eliza. How about tomorrow? We don't have anything to do, and we can go to the town hall to announce the gender.

John. That would be perfect. But that will probably be the only time I allow you out of bed to do anything outside of our estate.

Eliza. And I understand that. I don't believe either of us would want to risk the health of our son.

John. How about, for now, we watch a movie with Maddy. I know she has been wanting to watch Frozen for a long time, and today is a rainy day so she can't go outside. It seems like a perfect time to watch Frozen.

Eliza. I agree. I'll put the movie in and get Maddy. Can you make the popcorn?

John. Of course.

John makes the popcorn and sets it in three bowls. He then goes into the living room and sees the movie is put in and that Maddy is sitting in her chair with her stuffed koala. He hands her a bowl of popcorn and gives a bowl to Eliza. He then sits down with his bowl of popcorn, turns down the lights, and plays the movie.

3 hours later, everyone has finished watching Frozen and Frozen 2, upon Maddy's request, and they have dinner. After dinner, they put the plates and utensils in the basket to be put in the dishwasher, and clean up. They then get changed into pajamas, brush their teeth, and snuggle under the covers of their respective beds and fall asleep.
