Darkthoughts POV:
There were many things that Darkthought didn't understand as he was growing up. For one instance, why were he and his sister, Fatefinder, kept in this cave all the time? Couldn't they go out and explore? Couldn't they do anything without Lostmind guiding them? It got annoying after a while, getting told where they could and couldn't hunt.
He looked more Moonwing, having Dark Grey scales with a Darker Grey underbelly and stars under his wings. His eyes were Brown. He thought he could see the future but he wasn't sure. He would get strange flashes and they wouldn't mean a thing to him. Just last night before going to bed, he had flashes of a dragon with Orange eyes, a random Purple dragon and a house on an island. His sister, Fatefinder, could also see the future but it was only in small snippets. His sister actually looked like a hybrid between a Galaxywing and a Moonwing. She was a Lighter grey purple fading into Purple. Instead of having stars under her wings, she had a galaxy like their dad, Stargazer.
Today was another boring day of staying in their cave. Fatefinder was pushing a rock in between her talons. "Will we ever do anything fun! I wanna explore the outside, don't you brother?". Fatefinder complained to Lostmind. Stargazer seemed to be having some sort of internal conflict with himself. Lostmind seemed worried as she stared at him.
She finally let out a held breath and stood up. "Fine, I will take both of you for a short hunting lesson but that's it. We'll come straight back afterwards, do you both understand?". Lostmind asked her two children. She was sure they understood how dangerous it was outside by now. "Yes mama!". Both of the dragonets shouted in unison. Darkthought followed his mother while Fatefinder followed behind him. They were almost used to the feel of rocks underneath their talons. If it wasn't for the fact that more of them appeared with the help of birds. The waves rolled into the rocks below like a knife into some trees but never hitting the same spot.
They flew upwards and soon they saw the green color of grass. It was beautiful! Why hadn't they been taken out before? It didn't seem that dangerous? They hovered in the air for a while before flying SouthEast. He could see a few other dragons that looked like him. He waved to a few and they waved back. He smiled and looked towards his mom. She smiled with happiness. Lostmind looked around for a place to hunt. They had flown over a river and he had a feeling about something. Was this too far? The grass was a light pink and faded into red. Was that normal for grass to do? Darkthought wasn't sure. Lostmind glided them downwards towards the trees.
Lostmind landed gracefully like a leaf falling from a tree. Fatefinder was similar to a leaf with a piece of bark attached. Darkthoughts landing was like a whole stick. Lostmind looked back at him and smiled. "You land with your back legs first, not your entire body, Darkthought". He was embarrassed and nodded to Lostmind. "Sorry mom, I'll practice later". Darktought promised to Lostmind. Maybe he could practice with her later. That would be fun! Lostmind guided them both behind a tree and they waited.
He was getting impatient. Waiting wasn't his thing, his thing was hunting right away. He could hear the leaves rustle around him as they got carried by the wind. The crisp warm air was going against his scales and it was familiar to the warmth of his mother. He was falling asleep just standing there. Suddenly there was a rustling in front of them. It was a few birds pecking at the ground.
Lostmind looked down at them and creeped forwards. "Watch what I do, then try to copy it". Lostmind ordered to her children. She slowly stalked the birds. Darkthought knew this move, his sister had practiced it multiple times in their cave. He watched his mother closely. She rushed forwards and swiped at the birds. Their limp bodies hit the ground in a single neat swipe.
