=============================
Nandini
Throughout the day I couldn't able to relax as the silent depression drained my energy. And now sitting in his conference room for the registration caused me to worry. I understood that I had agreed to his proposal, but I didn't know it would be too soon, at least I was hoping to have a month to prepare myself mentally to spend the rest of my life with him.
Forcing a smile, I watched the lawyer who was reciting the words Manik directed him to tell.
But the moment I heard the word 'marriage', everything stopped, in second, everything went shut— heart started to race, hands trembled as the lawyer passed me the paper to sign. I watched it like I had no idea what to do with that. And that was enough to blow my mind out of the surroundings. I almost losing when Manik deep voice rang besides me which brought me to present. "Sign the paper, Nandini." Warning was clearly written in his words.
"Ridiculous! What kind of a marriage is this? No priest, no regulations— nothing. Is this even a real marriage? " Manik's grandma angrily reacted to the situation, only I could laugh.
Me, already sensed their glare without looking at them, and as usual Manik stood on his point, didn't leave a place to argue. "A my kind of marriage, grandma." His voice was cold and firm. "And yes, it's a real marriage. Authentic and legit— a simple one, just my Nandini wanted." Before I could react, he took my left hand and placed his right hand on my back like ordering me to go through with the conduct quickly. "Sweetheart, sign the paper. We can't waste the time as we need to wend for our wedding night." Winking playfully at me like he couldn't wait to get me, but only I could hear the mockery in his voice.
And... wait! Where the hell is this 'Sweetheart' come from?
I took the pen he had offered and sign my name. Then staring at his sign_ bold and big, even here his sign intimidating my little one. Before I could examine more Manik snatch the paper from my hand and looked at my sign carefully with a chauvinist eyes. When he was satisfied he returned the paper to his lawyer. "I think all is done, right?" Manik asked, but His mother interrupted this time.
"No. It's not done. A paper can't define anything." She looked passed me, and then I saw the lawyer was holding a cruet of vermillion and a mangalsutra. "You have to apply vermillion and put the mangalsutra on her."
"Hell not! She doesn't need those."
Mani stood up and ready to leave. But his mother again stopped him. "Okay. Fine. Then I am taking Nandini and my grandson with me. I don't see any point of her staying here without those thing. A registry is done and it would be enough to secure your position."
A slight hope started to shine in my mind.
"Oh, Mamma. There is still things that need to be done. But just because you insisted I am ready to follow." He walked up to me and took the vermillion and applied above my forehead and put the mangalsutra on me. "Done. Now you all can leave or enjoy the feast. I need my wife."
What?!!!
"Manik!!" Grandma shouted. "How can you be so disrespectful? No shame at all."
"What is there to be ashamed of? We just get married and it's you people need to give us space and leave the place right now." He was brazenly abrupt about how the things stack up. I lowered my head in humiliation as knew why he was behaving so rudely. Just to insult me and show my position, he was insulting his family too. But looking at them I could clearly tell that they are used to his bad manner and it was normal for them.
Not for me, though I saw his worst side I still couldn't accept his notorious sight.
Without delaying, he tugged me with him. But how could i? It's so shameful. But as he realized I was not moving, he pressed my wrist distinctly then pulled me closer. "Wha—what are you doing?" I stammered.
Smiling wickedly at me he leaned forward. "The more you resist, the more it becomes interesting." With that he carried me in his arms and hiked to upstairs—bedroom.
What's wrong with this guy?
"It's just a start, sweetheart."
"Leave me, Sahanj is crying."
"But there is no sound."
"I am his mother. So I know he is crying."
"Oh really?"
"Why would I lie?"
"I would love to make you cry, but it would be a different kind of cry."
Monster!
"I love when you resist."
"Manik, leave me. It was not in the deal."
"The deal was you, baby."
'No."
"As usual you didn't read carefully."
Huh!
"You—you!!"
"Mistake is yours. Don't curse me."
'You manipulated me."
"Ah! And you fall."
Dhruv
"The show is over." I casually trying to divert the situation, but I know that is not what they expected.
Not an unpredictable situation. At least not for Cabir and me. I exactly expected that from him. But looking at them, I felt pity. What they were expecting was a foolish paradise.
Not possible.
It's not in us. We men born in hell and we made sure of that we become the hell. But women are women— expecting too much from us. And I suppose that might be the reason of all disappointment. One hope lead to all destruction.
We born to destroy. And even sometimes we destroy ourselves.
Like you?
My soul mocked me. And that's when I glanced at Aliya who was fumbling in anger, looking brutally beautiful.
She had her hair open, wrapped in a simply elegant coral saree with transparent top. My eyes roamed further as i discovered her in a new way again. I could feel my restlessness to touch her, have her so she could only screamed my name. But I know I need patience. Not the right time. I adjusted my jeans.
I almost spend all the evening looking at her, but she seemed to be forgettable about my presence... well I didn't mind. But anyways, no matter how much she ignored me, at the end of the day and the end of everything she is mine. Mine only. She liked it or not. Though my all possession started from a selfish murderous reason, I still want her.
In public we seemed happy with a perfect family picture— Aliya, me and our daughter. If they knew the story behind the perfect picture. I wouldn't demand I was good or perfect or gentle— but opposite which Aliya only discovered. And it will remain that way.
Yeah unfortunately Manik and Cabir found out, but I was honest with one thing that I had fallen for Aliya along ago, just because of my stupid revenge I destroyed everything. But that doesn't mean I am going to leave her for someone to have his hands on her. No way.
As sensing my thoughts, Aliya looked at me, eyes shocked and distrustful.
I can have this punch. I deserved it.
"I think we need to leave, mom." Ignoring my presence once again, she turned her attention her mother.
"This boy will never learn."
"Mom, Boys never learns. Accept the truth." With that she turned around walked out of the door. I looked at her as the distance getting stronger. We will see Aliya. I know I was wrong. But aren't you also? But I didn't hold that to you.
I walked behind all and lastly, I closed the door before placing password. None has a right to stay tonight in this house. Accept this two. Manik's order.
"Dhruv, I need to discuss about the weapons with you." Cabir came as soon as I placed the password. And grateful also that I don't have to face Aliya tonight, but indeed I want her in my arms.
Looking at Aliya, I sighed. "Okay, I will directly meet you at the office. First let me drive them to home safely."
"Still no progress?"
I raised my eyebrow thinking, then nod my head negatively. "Not everyone is lucky as you."
"Don't come at me. Your fault. And I am not lucky, but definitely know where to be comprehensible and loyal. You and manik are same, but in a different way."
"Huh. We are not."
"Okay. Believe what you want to believe as long as it's satisfied your ego." I was ready to punch, but everyone is waiting for me. So before I could lose control over myself, I turned and walked to the car.
He might be the adviser of Manik, but not mine. I don't like when he tried to advise me.
Well you need one.
Shut the fuck up!
"What?"
I looked up and saw Aliya's questioning eyes.
"Huh! What?"
"You said something."
"Me? No." Dammit.
This f*cking mind of mine can't stop expressing his thought aloud. !!!!
