Sixteen
A/N: Yo, I'm writing a story with starrchildoffical and a couple other people. Check that out! It should be coming #soon. Also, I'm writing one with aviouslykaty that's called Love Yourself. I'm a busy, busy girl.xD
Kirstie smiled weakly at Ariana, hoping to get something out of her. When the small brunette saw her, she walked off quickly, refusing to talk to her. The blonde frowned and walked even faster, hoping to talk to her crush.
Ariana, please listen to me!
She was about to catch up to her when someone walked in front of her, causing her to sigh loudly. It was one of Scott's choir students, rolling her eyes when she saw the rebellious teenager.
"Where was Scott today?" The girl asked, twirling her hair. It was obvious that girls, boys, and genders in between had a crush on Scott. Kirstie rolled her eyes, wanting nothing more than to tell the girl in front of her that she would never have a chance with her brother. "I missed him today."
"He was at a place that was far away from you. He doesn't love you. Sorry to burst your bubble."
The girl scoffed, flipping her hair back. She smirked as a laugh escaped her lips, sticking her hip out. She squinted at Kirstie, her eyes full of hatred.
"I'm surprised Scott loves you. He wants nothing more than to put you into foster care or something because of your troublesome ways. Take it from me that you are a burden on this world. Scott can't stand you, nor your handicapped brother. You are a screw up. Admit it, sweetheart."
Kirstie bit her lip to prevent herself from yelling a profanity, feeling the tears well up in her eyes. Did Scott actually think about her that way? Was he really that hateful towards her?
Does he hate me?
She rose her fist, ready to punch the girl so hard that her hair extensions will fall off. She was about about to punch her when a hand stopped her, looking down to ins Ariana's doe-like eyes looking up at her lovingly.
"Don't do it. She's not worth it."
The girl scoffed once more, purposefully walking into Ariana in the way. Ariana hissed in pain, the bump hurting more that she expected it to. The girl looked over at them once more, glaring at the two girls.
"At least I don't have drugs with me."
"F YOU!"
Kirstie glared at the girl once more, looking over at Ariana sadly. The younger girl's face is contorted in pain, causing the older one to sit her down quickly.
"Ari, do you need to call Frankie or something? You look like you're in a lot of pain!"
"I'm fine,"'Ariana answered, her teeth grinding to fight of the pain. She took a deep breath, smiling at Kirstie weakly. "Our play is in a few weeks. Are you excited?"
"Yep," Kirstie answered, not having heard Ariana's singing for the play. That is the part she has been waiting for since she received her script. "My brother will be hearing by then hopefully!"
"That's amazing, Kirst!"
The two of them stayed quiet, looking at each other sweetly. Kirstie looked down at the pair of lips in front of her, wanting to kiss them. She was about to kiss Ariana when the blare of a horn interrupted her. She looked up to find a man waiting for Ariana impatiently, sighing to herself.
Dang it.
"Bye, Kirst!"
Kirstie waved, wanting nothing more than for Ariana to kiss her. She has never felt this way for anyone before. The thoughts of Ariana disappeared when Scott pulled up, causing her to think of what the choir student said.
Does Scott really hate me?

"Mitch should be able to go home tomorrow," Kevin confirmed, smiling when Scott laughed in relief. "He would have to come back in three weeks so we could turn on the cochlear implant. In that time, I will find him a speech therapist. I know a good one too. He just graduated from grad school."
"Okay, sounds good," Scott replied, looking over at the sleeping body of his brother. The cochlear implant looked like it took over one full side of his head, making him look like a robot or something. "How effective do you think the surgery was?"
"I will say about ninety to ninety five percent," Kevin answered, nodding a bit at his answer. He sighed sadly as he looked at Scott, setting down the pile of papers he had in his hands. "Scott, I need to tell you this right now. The chances of Mitch's hearing coming back entirely are lower than fifty percent."
"Oh," Scott replied, frowning a bit. He bit his lip to stop the tirade of tears that were bound to come. "What do you think he could hear?"
"He will able to her people talk of they talk loudly so he cannot hear whispers, even if they are directed towards him," Kevin informed Scott, looking at his papers. "He will never be allowed to drive because he might not hear ongoing traffic or the chances of a car running in the back of him. I'm sorry for sharing this information now, Scott. I'm just warning of what is happening when he has his implant."
Scott nodded slowly, wondering what Mitch ever did to deserve this. He never did anything to deserve this. He is so sweet and gentle and always looked at everyone with respect. Even when Kirstie was beginning to act terribly, Mitch never once quarreled with her. His heart broke when he realized that Mitch could no longer hear his favorite songs from musicals or bands that he liked.
Wait a minute...
"Kevin?" Scott asked quietly, getting the doctor's attention. Kevin nodded, smiling at the tall blond. "What are the chances of Mitch being able to hear music again?"
"Well, he has a greater chance of listening to music than someone whispering. The music has to be a bit loud but not too loud to damage the implant," Kevin remarked, frowning when Scott began to cry. No, bawl. "Scott, why are you crying? Is everything okay?"
Scott nodded as he smiled at Kevin, his hands shaking slightly. He took a deep breath as he looked over at the trooper that he called a brother. He wiped his eyes once more, smiling a genuine smile.
"My brother could hear me sing again."

Mitch woke up, a slight pain on his head. He hissed and touched the side of the head that was hurting, widening his eyes a bit. It felt like a circle was on his head, scaring him instantly. He went to stand up to see what was wrong with him, taking a sigh of relief when he saw a mirror. He looked into it, dropping his jaw in surprise when he saw the cochlear implant on him. He smiled, touching the device carefully.
I look amazing!
Mitch laughed to himself, wondering where his siblings could be. He frowned once more, hoping that they didn't leave him. He went back to his bed, looking over at the bed stand to find a letter addressed to him. He picked it up gently as he laid back down and opened it, laughing immediately.
Mitchy,
Yeah, it's Scott. Kirstie and I had to leave because 'we are not your parents'. I yelled out that Beyoncé sent me to the hospital for a mission(which was staying with you) ,but they didn't buy it. I shall come tomorrow to see you because you are ready to come home! SpongeBob for all of us. I love you, you dork.
Love,
Scott
P.S: I would've put Love Beyoncé, but I already said that she sent me on a mission to stay with you so that would've meant that I sent myself on a mission to see you. I'm weird.
Mitch shook his head, enjoying his brother's craziness. He always knew how to make everything better. He looked over at the clock, noticing that it was visiting hours, which shocked him.
How long was I asleep for?
A pretty blonde girl came in his room, her smile wide. Mitch gasped happily, patting on his bed. The girl walked in and jumped onto Mitch's bed, a smile on her face.
*Hi, Candice!*
*Hi, Mitch!* Candice signed backed, smiling at her friend. She noticed the cochlear implant and widened her eyes, happy for her friend. *Does it hurt?*
*Not really. It hurt when I woke up. Now it just feels like a headache.*
Candice nodded, running her hand up and down Mitch's arm. She frowned as she brought her hands back up, beginning to sign again.
*I'm sorry about Travis, Mitchy. Everyone misses him.*
*It's okay.* Mitch signed back, thinking back to Avi and Kevin helping him burn any pictures of Travis. He cried for a long time afterwards, but he was starting to let go of what he had. He's starting to not miss Travis as much anymore. *Did you ever find out who said that I'm not my dad's real son?*
*Nobody told you?*
*No. Who did it?*
Candice widened her eyes a bit, bitting her lip. Mitch nodded patiently, waiting for a response. He widened his eyes when he got one, crying a bit. He couldn't believe this! Out of everyone he knew, why did he do it?!
*Travis told us.*
A/N: Where any of you expecting that? I was thinking about that for a little while and I honestly like how this story is moving along now. Also, does anyone know what is wrong with Ariana now?;) Anyways, I hope that you all enjoyed the chapter and rem
