Chapter Twenty-Eight: From A School Life, To A Indie Horror Game
Akumi's P.O.V
I was putting objects in my locker.
Out of nowhere, Kazuto appeared next to me.
"WHAT?" I said, annoyed.
"Why the attitude?" Kazuto said.
"What attitude? I haven't done anything..." I said.
"You transfer here in school and you already get pissed the second you see me. Why is that?" Kazuto said, offended.
I groaned.
"Not to mention you look familiar... Akumi Ruri... The name is also familiar..." Kazuto said.
"And yet the bastard doesn't recognize me..." I said, really quietly.
But Kazuto heard what I said.
"*Thinking* *Gasps* I recognize that bastard word and pronunciaton anywhere..." Kazuto thought, surprised.
I raised an right eyebrow after seeing Kazuto's surprised face.
"You! You're that stalker girl who was jealous of me when I was with Amanda! Stalker McJellyface!" Kazuto said, pissed.
I was triggered.
"What did you say?" I said, offended.
"Stalker McJellyface!" Kazuto said once again.
Me and Kazuto started arguing.
Amanda started whispering something to Akira in a different corridor.
Akira appeared in the corridor we were in.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's going on here?" Akira said.
"Akumi here-" Kazuto said, but Akira interrupted.
"You guys just met and you're already fighting?" Akira said, her eyes closed and arms crossed.
"We knew-" I got interrupted by Akira.
"And you want ME to help you two make up?" Akira said.
"No!" I said.
"Ok!" Akira said.
I facepalmed.
Akira didn't care about what I said.
The next day was Saturday...
In a sidewalk...
Me and Kazuto are walking together but... we weren't happy about it.
"I can't believe you and I have to spend the day together." I said, with a uninterested face.
"I know! What was Akira thinking?!" Kazuto said, pissed.
"It's just for one day. It's not a big deal, you know." I said.
"Big deal my ass." Kazuto mumbled.
"Besides, this isn't so bad. I guess... Akira just wants us to get along. ...And to make myself clear, I didn't stalk you two. You had something that belonged to me. And I believe you still have it." I said.
Kazuto looked down selfishly.
A haunted mansion appeared.
Kazuto suddently looked happy.
"Oh cool! A haunted mansion!" Kazuto said, running towards the mansion entrance.
"Kazuto! Wait!" I chased after Kazuto.
"What is it?" Kazuto said, in front of the mansion entrance.
"We can't go in there." I said, worried.
"What, you scared?" Kazuto said and smirked.
"No, just that what if we entered the mansion, the door closed and we'd be locked inside?" I said.
"You're right. We shouldn't enter." Kazuto said.
Me and Kazuto were starting to walk away from the entrance.
A spring trap suddently appeared, launching us inside the mansion.
The mansion entrance door opened and closed.
"No!" I yelled.
............
I sighed.
"Wonderful. We're locked in." I said, annoyed.
"Welp, shoulda seen that coming." Kazuto said.
I groaned.
"Great, your curiousity has locked us in here." I said.
Kazuto looked at me angrily.
"Oh boy, we're gonna have a fun time here." I said, sarcasticly.
Kazuto groaned angrily.
"Surely one of us will die here, and I'm hoping it isn't ME!!" I said, annoyed.
Kazuto exploded in anger.
"OK, I get it!! We're stuck here, it's dark in here, it's my fault, and we can't see anything! Now, it would help me so much if you could find a flashlight and quit your yapping!!!!" Kazuto yelled.
A vase breaks, scaring us both.
Kazuto jumped on me, scared.
...
"I'm not the one who's yapping." I said and smirked.
"What was that anyway?" Kazuto said.
"I don't know..." I said.
I dropped Kazuto, making him fall to the floor.
"Come on. Let's go find a flashlight." I said.
"Tsk." Kazuto said.
Me and Kazuto started walking.
"So, do you have a dad?" I asked, curiously.
"I don't know... I don't think I had one..." Kazuto said.
"Aaw, that's sad. But wait, if you didn't have a dad, how did you came to be?" I said.
"...Magic, I guess?" Kazuto said.
"*Thinking* He doesn't know that he had a dad? Did his dad die or something? Could be." I thought, shocked.
"Huh?"
"A flashlight." I said.
I grabbed the flashlight and it had batteries inside.
"Glad to see the flashlight works." I said, turning on the flashlight.
"Just like an indie horror game!" Kazuto said, excited.
"Except this is real life." I said.
We kept walking.
"You think this house is really haunted? So far we haven't encountered any ghosts." I said.
"There have to be some!" Kazuto said.
"I wish there weren't any... I just want to get out of here." I said.
"Well, at least this is fun. And at least there isn't blood!" Kazuto said, happily.
"Please don't jinx it and we end up seeing blood..." I said, dizzy.
Kazuto chuckled.
Me and Kazuto climbed up a stairway.
The stairs made a squeeky sounds.
"Ugh, the noise these stairs make. Gives me goosebumps." I said, shivering.
"*Chuckles* Really?" Kazuto said, with a happy smile.
"Yep." I said.
We got to the second floor of the mansion.
I opened a door. There was a giant library filled with organized bookcases, dirty books and lots of dust.
"Whoa." I said, turning off the flashlight to save battery.
We didn't need to have the flashlight on since there was a little bit of light, so Kazuto and I could see.
"Cool!" Kazuto said.
Classical piano music starting playing.
"Oooh, classy piano." Kazuto said.
"But who's playing?" I said.
"Beats me. Probably a ghost." Kazuto said.
"I hope not." I said.
Me and Kazuto went down some stairs.
There was nobody playing the piano.
"Nobody's playing the piano..." I said, confused.
"Eh-eh." Kazuto shook his head and pointed at the piano tiles.
"See, the piano tiles are moving. A ghost is playing the piano."
I put a frown.
"What, you thought ghosts were visible? What a nitwit." Kazuto said, mockingly.
"I knew that." I said.
Me and Kazuto were scrolling through books.
"The Adventurer's Guide To Treasure." I read.
...
"What a bad title for a book." I said, with a "really?" face.
"Spells." Kazuto read.
"Ooooh!"
"I highly doubt you'll be able to even cast a spell." I said.
"You never know 'till you try." Kazuto said.
"Come on, let's keep scrolling through some more books. Some of these books can give us a clue of how to get out of this haunted mansion." I said.
"Ok..." Kazuto mumbled.
We kept scrolling.
I pulled out a book from a bookcase.
"Atomic Bomb Explosion in Japan. Wasn't that in Hiroshima?" I asked.
"I don't know." Kazuto said.
"You don't know a lot of things, do you?" I said.
Kazuto chuckled nervously.
Suddenly, a bookcase moved, revealing a hidden pathaway.
"Secrets." I said.
"Cool!" Kazuto said.
When we were about to enter the hidden pathaway, a book landed in my hands.
"Huh?" I said, the book in my hands.
"How To Build An Axe. What do I need an axe for?" I put a frown.
Another book fell in the book I was holding.
I yelped in surprise.
"Hey! Who keeps dropping books?!" I screamed out while looking up annoyed.
Nobody was dropping books.
I sighed.
"Alright, what is this other book about?" I said, looking at the book.
I opened the book.
A paper was betwen two pages of the book.
"Hmm?"
I opened the paper.
"*Relieved Gasp* It's directions to the mansion!" I put a glad smile.
"Kazuto, check this-" I said but stopped.
I gasped.
Kazuto was being grabbed by a brownish, bald, mustached, man with a monochrome and tuxedo.
The man was holding a spell book. He was gonna burn Kazuto with a fire spell.
"Who are you two? What are you doing in my mansion?" The man said with a eerily look.
"Your mansion? I thought this was a haunted mansion! Who are you? And why did you set a spring trap in the mansion entrance?" I said, serious.
"My name is Roger Stones. I own this mansion, library, everything. And no, I did not set a spring trap in my mansion's entrance. This house is not haunted, the ghost is my dead maid, she died of an accident in my library and now she forever plays the piano." Roger said.
"That's kinda crummy." I said with an eyebrow raised.
"Look, just put Kazuto down and maybe we can sort this out." I said.
"No. Not until you battle me." Roger said.
"Battle you?" I said.
"Yes. A battle." Roger said.
"Hmm..." I thought of something.
An idea sprung to mind.
"Well! How about this? If you win, I'll be your maid for a year, but I still get to go to my house. But if I win, this mansion will belong to me." I said and smirked.
"Very well." Roger said.
"Also, you and your dead maid will leave the mansion." I said.
"I know." Roger said.
"But first, a question. How are you gonna fight?" Roger said.
"Uuuh..." I said.
"Spells!" Kazuto said.
"Oh, yeah!" I said.
I walked over to the bookcase Kazuto found the spell book.
I grabbed the book and returned to my current location I was stepping.
"Ok, ready!" I said.
I stood in a mage way.
"Then, let this duel, BEGIN!!" Roger said.
Roger started fighting by throwing three magical, dark powered spears.
I gasped.
"Ok! Is there a magical barrier spell here?" I said, scrolling through the pages of the spell book.
"Ah-ha! Here it is!"
"Magic Barrier!" I said, making a magical barrier.
The magical barrier deflected the three dark magical spears.
"My turn!" I said.
I opened the spell book and I made a fire whip.
"Time to tame the thinning!" I said.
I started trying to hit Roger with the fire whip.
Roger dodged my whip attacks. He grabbed my lasso and used water to remove the flames.
I gasped.
I groaned.
I shot three light beams at Roger.
Roger used a dark magic grab, grabbed my light beams, turned them dark at threw them back.
I dodged the beams.
I set my fist on fire.
Roger made his right fist turn into stone.
We both started running towards each other.
I yelled.
Roger yelled.
Our fists clashed.
Roger made his left fist turn into stone.
"Huh?!" I exclaimed.
Roger punched me in my stomach, and then he pushed me. I fell to the floor.
I groaned.
Roger walked to me.
"You've lost." Roger said.
"Wrong! I'm not done yet!" I said.
I kicked Roger in his nose.
I got up.
I started punching Roger.
I then bonked his head and left him unconcious.
"You beat him..." Kazuto said, walking to me.
"Guess that means the mansion is mine now..." I said.
I made a portal open. I threw Roger in the portal.
"Whoa! Wait! Why did you do that?" Kazuto said.
"I won, didn't I? He won't bother us again." I said.
...
"Wow. You could have made him your butler." Kazuto said.
"Darn! I should've thought about that." I said.
The ghost playing the piano stopped playing and left.
A key appeared in my right hand.
"A key?" I said.
"Oh! Right! Kazuto, take a look at this." I said.
I took out the paper with the mansion's directions.
"Look. The entrance. I think this must be the key to the mansion entrance." I said, pointing at the entrance.
"Let's try it!" Kazuto said.
We headed to the entrance.
I inserted the key in the keyhole.
The mansion entrance opened.
It was nightime.
"Wow, nightime already?" I said.
"Time sure flies." Kazuto said.
"Well, you better head home. Your mom must be worried sick." I said.
"Wait, what are you gonna do? You're not gonna head to your home too?" Kazuto said.
"My parent are overseas, so I can do what I want. Except that I have to go to school 'cause I have to and that it also gets kinda boring at home." I said.
"Oh, ok." Kazuto said.
"And hey, sorry for my attitude at school." I said.
"It's okay. You were just a bit angry." Kazuto said.
"Well, have a good night." I said.
"Bye Akumi." Kazuto said.
"Bye." I said.
I closed the entrance door and turned on the lights.
"Now it's time to clean this mansion a bit." I said.
