Chapter 15: river
Olive looks at Mercy, who shrugs and starts walking, Olive follows right behind him.
"So where are we exactly?.." Olive asks, her head tilting nervously, everytime she had asked Mira...she had just gotten more irritated, she didn't think mercy would do the same, but you never know...
"Oh! Did Mira not tell you?" Mercy tilts his head in confusion.
Olive looks at the ground as she shakes her head. "Not really..." she fidgets with the toy in her hands.
Mercy nods. "Gotcha...Well- I'll tell you!" Mercy straightens his back.
Olive looks back up at mercy, her chocolate brown eyes meeting his nearly black ones.
"Basically, me and Justice know this person! We go to school with them- and I have gym with them- oh and we're on the same derby team- but anyways...they basically owe me a favor, so I'm using it now!" Mercy grins, striking a proud pose.
Olives eyes widen, and she suddenly feels guilty... "you didn't have to do that for me..." She Mutters, scratching the back of her head as she looks down at her shoes.
Mercy is about to speak but is interrupted by Justice. "Cmon! We don't have all day!" He sounds annoyed.
"Sorry!" Mercy yells as he grabs olives hand, dragging her with him.
Olive tries to keep up with him, but he's so fast!- I mean...he is an athlete. Maybe he does track?
The two run into the tiny cottage, where it is...chaotic to say the least.
"Celsi get down here!" A person yells from the bottom of a staircase.
"Just a Minute!" Shouts a voice from upstairs.
The other person grumbles as they walk over to the group. "Welcome in...I guess. Go sit down in the living room I'll go grab my stupid sister...be right back." They give a weak, two-fingered salute before they turn around, heading upstairs.
Mercy and Olive look at each other, they both shrug and sit down on the sofa, Justice and Mira converse in the dining room.
A boy walks down the stairs, sipping on a juice box, he freezes as he sees all of the people. "Uhm..." he mumbles quietly. "...hello?.."
Everyone looks up at him, a cacophony of hellos fill the previously silent room.
The boy, who looked to be about 10 years old walks into the kitchen and grabs another juice, Olive reads the label; the brand is called 'fruit-bat' but Olive can't read the flavor...
He steps into the living room, plopping on the couch, sitting criss-cross; he grabs the remote and flips through a couple of the different channels, landing on some kids cartoon...
Olive sits awkwardly between the kid and mercy. Mercy, ever the hater of silence, starts chatting with the kid.
"So! Kid! What's your name?" Mercy sits up, a huge smile plastered on his face.
The kid looks at mercy, with a slight glare. "My name is kel." He Looks back at the tv.
Mercy nods. "I'm mercy! This is Olive," he points to Olive. "Out there are my friends Justice and Mira!"
"Uh huh...great." Kel continues watching tv.
"So, how's school- ooo! Do you have a crush?!" Mercy asks excitedly.
Kel looks Extremely irritated at this point, and Olive is getting nervous, she wants to shut mercy up, but it's too late.
"No I don't. Can you leave me alone now?" Kel grumbles.
Mercy just continues babbling on about stuff, asking questions, too many questions at that.
Kel is at his breaking point, he stands up and starts yelling. "Do you ever shut up?!" The ground starts to shake. "All I asked was for you to leave me alone! And you can't even do that!"
Mercy looks extremely nervous, and looks around at the others for help, but he did kinda have it coming.
Suddenly, water from the river outside floods in, it takes the shape of a hand and grabs mercy out of his chair, and drags him outside to the river.
The rest of the group runs outside, seeing mercy crawl into the grass, shaking his hair; and a still irritated looking kel.
Ren and an older girl run out.
"Kel! Are you serious?!" Ren yells, kel just crosses his arms and looks at the ground.
Ren runs over to help mercy, the red haired girl walks over to Olive.
"Hello! You must be Olive, I'm celsi!" The Girl smiles.
