The next day; I walked over to Ezra's room. The door hissed open, making Ezra jump. When he saw it was only, he calmed down a little.

"(SIGHING WITH RELIEF.) Oh...! It's only you!..."

Normally, Ezra was so sharp and very brave. To sense him so afraid and jumpy wasn't a good thing. Just when I was about to say something, Ezra got up from his bunk and hugged me tightly. I gasped in shock as I felt his fingers gripping my shirt as he shivered. I felt a fatherly protective instinct kick in, and put my arms around the boy. "What's wrong, Ezra?..." My tone was so quiet that if I said it any louder, Ezra's heart would be shattered.

"What's wrong with me, Kanan? Why does this stuff always happen to me?..." A sob was starting to catch in his throat, as I stroked a comforting hand through his hair.

"Honestly... I don't know Ezra!... I just don't know!..."

Ezra just continued to sob while holding onto me like he was going to lose me if he let go. I gently rubbed his back, wishing I could help the kid in some way; to make him feel safe again... To cheer him up, just I used to do before Maul showed up. Then, it struck me! I began humming a lullaby that my master used to sing for me when I was little and ended playing for Ezra when he was fourteen.

"I remember tears streaming down your face when I said, "I'll never let you go." When all of those shadows almost killed your light. I remember you said, "Don't leave me alone." I feel Ezra's cries calm down a little, a bit relaxed.

"Anytime, padawan... Come on, let's go see Bendu for advice."

I grabbed Ezra's hand and pulled him up as we both walked towards the speeders. After reaching them, Ezra got on one as I held on to him. After reaching Bendu, I sensed Ezra get off the bike nervously, I could tell he was still terrified of seeing Maul again after yesterday.

"Kanan...I'm afraid..."

I get off the speeder and placed my hand on his shoulders..."Hey...It's okay... If he does show up, I won't leave you... Not this time... I'll be right beside you!..."

Ezra smiled, knowing that helps him a little as Bendu wakes up.

"Bendu. You knew we were coming."

"Yes. You're not exactly quiet creatures."

I turn to Ezra, who has calmed down a bit. "Tell him what's happening."

Ezra steps forward and starts to explain everything. "The dark side wielder I too you about, the one who wanted to join the holocrons together. I've seen him here on Atollon."

Bendu sighed, not taking this news very well or even good.

"I warned you, joining the holocrons together could bring both great wisdom and great danger."

Ezra sighed, I could he was upset about it, but he didn't have a choice since he didn't want to lose his second family too.

"I know. I felt their power. And I did see things, but not vision, It was incomplete."

The last part confused Bendu as it did me as I remembered when the holocrons blasted to pieces and knocked Ezra out.

"Incomplete?"

"Yeah. I let go before either of us got the answers we wanted, and then the holocrons were destroyed."

That wasn't a good thing, if it had to do with why Ezra kept seeing Maul.

"I see. Well, that's not good."

That last part confused me and Ezra, something was up.

"What do you mean, "That's not good"? What can we do?"

"What do you want to do?"

"I want to stop seeing Maul."

"Then don't turn around."

But it's too late as Bendu has gone asleep and Maul is already approaching...

"This is a strange place. So remote. Yes, the Empire will have a difficult time finding you here."

I pulled out my blue lightsaber as Ezra pulls out his green lightsaber, prepared to fight if he tries anything. I don't know what he wants, but I know he isn't hurting Ezra again, not on my watch... Maul just chuckles evilly at our resistance and taunts us.

"You think I came here to fight? I came here to speak with my apprentice."

My grip tightened on my lightsaber as my anger clenched through my teeth. "He's not your apprentice!"

"Yet!"

Before the argument could continue any further, Ezra confronted Maul but both of us kept our lightsabers active just in case.

"How did you find me?"

Ezra deactivated his blade but I kept my on as we both hear Maul first before anything else.

"When you abruptly severed our connection with the Holocron, you mixed up the information. You learned a bit about what I want to know, and I learned a bit about what you wanted to know. But there were fragments and memories left in my mind."

Slowly, Ezra started to piece it together. He realized it would explain why Ezra kept seeing Maul all the time yesterday, and why Maul was able to find us.

"Like the location of our base."

"Yes. Very good. You do learn fast, apprentice.

Ezra sighs frustrated, still not able to trust him after the last few incidents with trying to kill me and the others.

"Look, I can't make sense of what I saw. I couldn't even describe it if I wanted to."

Ezra ten puts his lightsaber back on his belt, crossing his arms a little bit suspicious.

"So you get your answers, but what do we get out of it?"

"I will keep your rebel secret."

That answer makes me more distrustful than ever. Knowing him, he was only saying that so he could make Ezra his apprentice. I pointed out my lightsaber in front of the sith user's face while pushing my student right behind me.

"No deal. You're not walking off this rock in one piece."

Unfortunately, Maul had a plan tor that too if I killed him, trying to protect Ezra from his mind games.

"I have planted a beacon nearby. Strike me down, and it will activate, revealing your presence to the Empire. You have knowledge that is rightfully mine. I have the knowledge that you want. The key to defeating the Sith. What I propose will satisfy us both."

I still kept my lightsaber activated, unsure if I should risk Phoenix Squadron being exposed by the Empire, or risking Ezra's life to the Dark side. Suddenly, Ezra lowers my lightsaber, making his answer.

"All right."

Is he crazy?! I immediately deactivated my lightsaber before grabbing his shoulder, refusing to let Ezra go with him.

"Ezra, you're not doing this!"

He tore his arm from my overprotective grip pointing the obvious if he doesn't go through with this.

"He's going to expose Chopper Base."

We'll move, build a new base."

I was doing my best to protect my padawan. I couldn't let Maul take my family member away from me Ezra shook his head calmly and did his best to reassure me that he would be okay.

"Maul won't hurt me, Kanan. He needs me. Besides, this might be our last chance to learn the secret of how we can destroy the Sith.

Realizing Ezra was right and it's what we both wanted. Sighing, I knew if I said no it would be our trust between each other when we just had begun to rebuild it a few days ago.

"I do not like this. But we don't have a choice, do we?"

Ezra sadly shook his head, before I sighed deeply before I finally my answer.

"I'm gonna trust you on this."

Ezra smiled, a little before bravely confronting Maul.

"All right. We have a deal."

"After you, my apprentice."

As two walked away, I felt so scared and broken and only one thing echoed through my mind. "Please don't turn..."

Later I ran into sabine and explained what happened. Suddenly, she checked the tracker signal to see if it was working, as we approached the Phantom 2.

"I'm tracking Ezra's signal. They just made the jump to hyperspace."

I immediately relaxed as I got into my seat in the shuttle.

"Let's get going. I don't wanna lose 'em!"
