Inside my room, I was still pacing worried for Ezra. Memories of how much the kid meant were flashing before my eyes.

Spark of the Rebellion: "What's the Force?"

"The Force is everywhere. It surrounds us, band penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together. And it's strong with you, Ezra. Otherwise, you never have been able to open the Holocron."

"So what do you want?"

"To offer you a choice, you can keep the lightsaber you stole, let it become just another dusty souvenir, or you can give it back and come with us--come with me, and be trained in the ways of the Force. You can learn what it truly means to be a Jedi."

Later Ezra comes back onto the Ghost and enters Kanan's room, surprising older Jedi. The boy sighs, before walking over to Kanan and gives the man his lightsaber back. Kanan is a bit shocked but smiles as he takes it, happy that Ezra is choosing to with him and the crew. Ezra crosses his arms as Kanan placed a comforting hand on Ezra's shoulder.

Droids in Distress(Right after Ezra saves Zeb's life from Agent Kallus.)

"Will he be okay?"

"(GROANING) Yeah... Thanks, mate, I appreciate the save."

"It wasn't me, it was Ezra...!" Ezra simply nods and smiled at everyone as Kanan turns to his youngest friend."And Ezra... Your formal Jedi training starts tomorrow!..."Ezra and Kanan smiled at each other as Hera placed a proud hand on the kid.

Rise of Old Masters:

"Look, don't bother saying it. I'm letting you off the hook."

"What are you talking about?"

"I know you wanted to dump me on Luminara. Just 'cause she's gone doesn't mean you're stuck with me."

"I don't wanna dump you... (SIGHS) Look, I just wanted you to have the best teacher."

"Well I don't want the best teacher, I want you!... (EZRA IS IN SHOCK JUST AS MUCH AS KANAN IS.) Not that you're not the best. I--"

"Ezra, I'm not gonna try to teach you anymore. If all I do is try, that means I don't truly believe I can succeed. So from now on, I will teach you. (EZRA'S DISSAPOINTED FACE AT KANAN'S WORDS SOFTENS A LITTLE.) I may fail. You may fail, but there is no try."

Ezra is softened by Kanan's words but now completely understands the lesson and smiles. " I understand... Master!..."

Kanan smiles and hands Ezra his lightsaber, relieved that Ezra is choosing to stay. "Let's see If you do...!"

As the two of them train on the ground this time, both Ezra and Kanan feel peace for the first time in years.

Breaking Ranks:

"So how was it, kid?"

"Forgot what it was like to be on my own..."

"You miss it?..."

"No grumpy robots no smelly lasats... It's good to be back!..."

"(CHUCKLES) At ease, cadet..."

"Sir yes, sir!..."

Empire Day:

"Dad, what are you doing? Sorry, mister, my dad here is just so pateotroicate, you know?"

"Empire Day! I love it! All hail our glorious Empire!"

"Alright, well... Move along!..."

"Thanks!..."

Later Kanan saves Ezra from being hit by a stormtrooper twice.

Gathering Forces(Right after Ezra collapses from the dark side use.)

Kanan picks Ezra up and tries to wake him up. "Ezra?..."

"Kanan?... What happen?... I... I feel so cold!..."

"I know; it's okay, we're leaving!..."

Path of A Jedi:

"How are you?..."

"Different, but the same..."

Heh, I know what you mean!..."

"I found this!... (HOLD THE BLUE KYPER CRYSTAL HE FOUND.)"

"I don't believe it!..."

"What is it? It's good, right?..."

"Ezra, that's a kyper crystal!..."

"It's a lightsaber crystal!..."

"(GASPS) I thought I let you check it out first!..."

"Well, it's different... But that seems about right for you, go tor it!... (LIGHTSABER ACTIVATING.)"

"You worry too much!... (STUNS ONE OF THE TROOPERS WITH HIS LIGHTSABER BLASTER.)

"(SIGHS) You shouldn't have come here, but I'm glad you did!..."

Suddenly, my train of thought is interrupted by Rex opening the door.

"Uh, Kanan? We all know that Ezra and I don't always agree on everything, but over the last year or so... I've noticed something that makes him; less detestable!... He loves you, Kanan, more than anyone has ever loved anybody!..."

"And I feel the same way about him! I'm just sorry it took of this to truly realize that!..."

I felt Rex come over placed a hand on my shoulder, trying to cheer me up...

"Look, I know what we both saw down there; but you and I both know this isn't something Ezra would ever do!..."

"I know!..."

Suddenly, Chopper bursts into the room beeping worried. I try to calm him down. "Chopper, what's wrong?..." He says that Ezra ran off somewhere and Sabine took off after him! Immediately, I took off to find Ezra and Sabine. When I got outside the base, I heard Sabine yelling concerned for my padawan.

"Ezra, please! Stop running!..."

"Sabine! What's wrong? Where's Ezra?!..."

"I don't know, he just took off for no reason!..."

"We better find him before something happens to him!..."

She led me around the ships and we both caught sight of Ezra force pushing a rebel into a stack of crates.

"Ezra!..."

I could hear Sabine's worried cries for Ezra before she ran towards him. What was happening? Just as I was thinking that this wasn't Ezra, I felt the kid reaching for his lightsaber! Sabine and I ran towards Ezra getting in between him and the unfortunate man.

"Ezra, wait!"

Sabine tried to push Ezra away, being wary of the weapon between the two of them. As I helped her, I was trying to think of a way to get Ezra to stop hallucinating.

"Let me go!"

Angrily, he pushed us both of us away with lightning speed and ignited his lightsaber. Quickly, I reached out; putting him in a Force grip, trying to calm him down from the hallucination he's in. Ezra fought against my Force grip, but I refused to lose the kid to Maul's mind games!...

"Kanan! What are you doing?!"

"Ezra! It's not Maul! Look at him!"

Ezra looked back at the man on the ground. Sensing that Ezra had calmed down the vision he was in, I felt go of the Force hold on him.

"You're out of your mind, kid!..." His almost victim struggled away from him.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! What's happening to me?..."

Ezra dropped his lightsaber on the floor, as he backed up falling on one knee breathing, while he clenched his teeth. Sabine placed a comforting hand on his shoulder while I tried to help him up off the ground.

"Easy Ezra, it's okay... You're safe!..."

Ezra starts to calm down as Sabine helps him and gives the kid to me. "Come on, let's get you back to the Ghost!... You need some rest!..."

Outside the medical bay, I stood outside with Hera, Zeb, and Chopper. Sabine was inside the room with Ezra. Suddenly, the door opened as I rushed in to find Ezra unconscious on the medical bed; peacefully asleep

"How is he doing?..." The medical droid began to speak up about Ezra's condition.

"The boy has abstained energy; he is going to make it, but he needs to rest."

Both Sabine and I sigh with relief.

"Oh, thank goodness!..."

"That's a relief!..." I suddenly feel Zeb and Chopper leaving the room.

"Come on you two, we have to get ready for our mission."

As Zeb and Chopper leave, Hera turns to me; a bit worried about leaving Ezra.

"Kanan, can I have a word with you?..."

I knew that she was worried about Ezra. "Yeah, I'll be right there!..."

"Okay!..."

I softly kiss Ezra's forehead before leaving him alone with Sabine as I left the medical bay to talk to Hera before she, Zeb, and Chopper left for the mission. Even though I wasn't able to see, I could still sense that she was worried about Ezra.

"Maybe I should postpone the mission, stay with him...!"

I was worried about my padawan too. But I also knew that Hera had her job to do, and I said that I wouldn't leave Ezra alone again...

"Ezra will be fine, I've got a plan."

If I told her, I knew she wouldn't have gone on the mission. Nevertheless, Hera knew that she would just have to trust me.

"(SIGHING SADLY.) Be careful, Kanan."

"We will."

Sabine walked up to me, trying to be strong for Ezra, as much as I was as we watched Hera leave.

"I'm surprised she got on the ship." She watched as the Ghost disappeared into the clouds and flew towards Lothal.

"I told her I had a plan." I insisted, trying to calm her worries and mine about the kid's sake.

"Really? And she left anyway?" I knew the sarcastic tone in the girl's voice that I've known for years, it was one of her ways of coping with her worries for Ezra's health when he was hurting when we were younger.

"Very funny. Come on." I led her into the Phantom 2 to retrieve something before giving it to her.

"Ezra's wrist com?"

"I need you to put a tracker on it without him knowing."

Sabine is quiet for a few seconds before giving me her answer. "Okay, I get right to work."

She left the ship and headed towards her room. At sunset, I had just entered the medical room to find Ezra asleep. I sat down beside him and started to stroke Ezra's cheek softly. Suddenly, Sabine enters the room.

"Hey, I did what you asked. I hope your plan works out, whatever it is."

"Thanks..." I took Ezra's wrist com and placed it back on the kid's arm.

"Being thinking about Ezra, again?..."

"(SIGHS) Yeah... I just wish I knew why Ezra wouldn't let me help before!..."

"Kanan, in the two decades that you were gone and captured by the Grand Inquisitor, not once did your padawan ever sleep through the night! Your absence haunted him every minute, of every day!... And after you were blinded by Maul after Malachor, well... The depression and it that haunted him during that time came back like poison!... believe me, you were not the only one to find out he was using the sith Holocron!... But I agree with you, what Maul is doing to the kid isn't right!..."

I hesitate for a moment, considering Sabine's words. I look back at Ezra and stroke his cheek again before answering. "You're right... I'm not quite sure what to do, but I promise I'll do all I can to help him. Just... promise me one thing?..."

"Anything!..."

"That you'll trust me and be strong for Ezra?...

Sabine squeezed her hand on mine before pulling me into a hug. "Yes, I can!... You should get some rest, it's been a long day!..."

I smiled at the thought of her sounding more like Jedi than a Mandalorian. "Sure thing Specter Five. (KISSES HER FOREHEAD.) Goodnight, Sabine Wren."

"Goodnight, Kanan Jarrus."

As soon as I got to my bedroom and I looked at the night sky, I remembered my promise that I made to Ezra about never being alone again almost a year ago.

"You have to admit, it's good to see no star destroyers over Lothal for a change. (SEES EZRA IS A BIT UPSET.) Why so quiet?..."

"Thank you... For everything you've done for me... You're always there... When I need you most...!"

"Hey... I know what's like to lose someone close and not have anyone. When I lost my master, I was alone. Regardless of how this turns out, I didn't want you to be...!"

I knew that when I promised something to my crew, I don't ever break that promise...

"I made you promise Ezra, and I won't go back on my word!..."
