It was a normal morning in the ultimate academy, well as normal as a killing game could be anyway.

Shuichi groaned as he pulled himself out of bed and listened to the morning announcement, he did his usual morning routine and made his way to the dining hall.

"Shuichi over here!" Kaito's voice boomed through the room, beconing shuichi over to where him and Maki were sitting.

Everyone eventually got settled in, but little did they know... a unwelcome surprise awated them, or more specificity, one of them.

"Phuhuhuhu~" Monokuma's signature laugh ecohed from the monitor.

"What is it this time?" Maki's cold voice cut though the silence, and soon enough Monokuma answered. "Well its been a while and NO MURDERS HAVE HAPPENED!" Monokuma's angry voice was emphasised by him baring his sharp claws.

"Yeah and we won't murder anyone in the future either!" Kaito declared to Monokuma and everyone else in the dining hall.

"Neeheehee~ Don't be so optimistic Kaito, Monokumas probably here to present a new motive. And you never know when anyone could snap." Everyone quickly turned their heads over to Kokichi who was sitting in his chair with a grin plastered on his face.

"As if anyones going to kill on my watch!" Kaito continued to argue with Kokichi for a while before Monokuma shouted over the two of then.

"HEY SHUP UP YOU TWO! Im geting sick and tired of your bickering-" an evil grin crept on the bears face "- so I've decided that im going to use the new motive on one of you!"

An echo of shocked voices spred through the room, but fortunately (or unfortunetly for one specific person) Monokuma showed a bit of mercy to the students.

"Phuhuhuhu~ relax you guys im not that mean! Im sooooo merciful that I'll even let you decide who I'm useing the motive on!

A sigh of relief swept through the dining hall, since as soon as Monokuma said that, everyone knew exactly who was going to be dealing with the motive.

Everyone slowly turned their heads toward Kokichi, and silently agreeed that he would be the one who got the motive.

If he was nervous he didnt show it, all he did was pout "Aww boo! Do all of you guys really want to s-see me suffer t-that badly? WAAAAA YOUR SO MEAAAAN!"

Monokuma shut him up by putting a chain around his neck, the tears instantly stoped and was replaced by a scowl. "Wow, overkill much-!"

He was cut of by Monokuma pullimg him out of the room dispite his protests. Everyone stood silent looking at the door, and Shuichi was feeling pretty guilty for ganging up in Kokchi like that.

"Uh guys? Are you sure its ok to overwhelm Kokichi like that?" He hesitantly spoke up.

"Eh, its ok bro! He had it coming anyways!" Kaito gave Shuichi a suportive smile but he still couldnt help but feel bad.

No-one dared to talk after that as they all stared at the door, Soon enough Monokuma came over the monitor and made a very interesting announcement.

"Phuhuhu~ Everyone please head to the ultimate supreme leaders dorm room for the next motive!"

Everyone quickly rushed over to Kokichis room and saw the door wide open, all of the students scurried inside to see Kokichi...

Sleeping?

"Is this like one of those animes where the characters have to go into the mind of someone to wake them up?!" Tsumugi gasped

Suddenly Monokuma poped up in the middle of the room and enlightened everyone. "Nah, the author isnt creative enough to write that." Everyone was confused for a minute until the black and white bear continued. "Anyways! As you can see the little shit who is usually full of energy is sleeping peacefully! This is a motive i like to call the drowsiness motive!"

"What kind of a name is that?!" Tenko enquired. "Can you think of a better one missy?" The bear countered "U-uh well..." she trailed off "Thats what I thought!"

"Now as I was saying, this motive drains someone of there energy and they become an easy target for murder~"

Everyone shivered at the mere mention of the crime. Even though Kokichi wasnt very well liked among his peers dosent mean anyone would kill him right? ... right?

"Welp thats the best explanation i can come up with right now, see ya! And happy killing!"

With that Monokuma left leaving 13 confused students in the room, soon enough people started to disscuss what we should do about this... situation.

"I say we fuckin' leave him here to wet dream!" Miu's vulgar comments aside was it a good idea to leave him alone?

Shuichi was blocking out most of the conversation because many question were swarming through his mind. 'Can he wake up?' 'How tired is he exactly?' 'Will one of us need to take care of him?'

Shuichi was pulled out of his thoughts when Kaito's loud voice ringed out. "He doesnt need help im sure hes not that tired!"

Shuichi tried waring him "Shhh Kaito be quiet you might wake-" but it was to late

"Ugghh..hm whaa?"

Everyone snapped their heads toward Kokichi who was looking at everyone with tired eyes and a sleepy expretion, "What are all you guys *yawn* in here for?" He asked while lazily proping himself up on the bed he was laying on.

"See! No need to worry he's awake!" Shuichi breathed a sigh of relief knowing that he could at least wake up to eat and drink.

Most people had left be this time so there was only a few students left in the room, they all left to go spread the news that Kokichi was awake, leaving only Shuichi and the drowsy boy in the dorm.

"So, um, how are you feeling Kokichi?" Shuichi asked, he needed to know the extent of this motive so he could act accordingly.

"Tired.." The boy simlply responded, much to Shuichi's annoyance. "How tired exactly?" Shuichi asked with an exasperated tone.

"I could *yawn* pass out right now if you wanted me to." Shuichi was genuinely supprised at the boys honesty, normally Kokichi would never directly answer a question like that-

"But who knows, that could be a lie~" Ah. There it is. But somehow, Shuichi doubted that it was a lie.

It was a silent for a moment before Shuichi realized that Kokichi hadn't eaten today as breakfast was cut short with the new motive.

"Do you want to go to the dining hall with me? I noticed that you didnt eat anything at breakfast" He half expected him to lie and say that he did eat and the other half expected him to just pass out right then and there because of how drained he looked.

"Sure" He did not expect that, though it was a welcome change to see the liar being a bit more honest.

Shuichi watched in silence as Kokichi slowly got up from the bed, he immediately noticed how lethargic the boys movements were, compared to how animated and energetic he was.

"*yawn* Well lets go..." Hell, he even talked slower than before, this motive must be pretty strong if it can slow down Kokichi of all people.

The two walked to the dining hall in silence and the only sound was the tapping of there shoes and the occasional yawn from Kokichi, it was clear to Shuichi that the boy was exhausted.

When they got to the dining hall, it was a surprise to see that nobody was there, so it was just just the two of them again. Shuichi was going to make some food for the leader because it was all to obvious he could not cook in this state.

Because shuichi was alone in the kitchen, he had some time to think about the current situation. Earlier in Kokichi's room he asked himself if anyone needed to take care of the sleepy boy. And Kokichi was fairly sharp, but it was clear that he couldn't do any complex tasks when he is constantly exhausted, so Shuichi had decided to take the task of caring for Kokichi, partly because he knew no-one else would want to and partly because he though Kokichi was quite cute like this-

Wait. What did he just think? Kokichi, cute? No way.

He was once again snaped out of his thoughts by the timer going off, which meant the food was done. He took the food and almost chuckled at the scene in front of him.

Kokichi had his head in his hands his eyes kept fluttering open and closed, he was practically falling asleep at the table.

"Um, Kokichi?" Shuichi shyly called out to the boy, Kokichi's eyes shot open now semi alert. "H-huh?" Kokichi was clearly out of it, and it took all of Shuichi's will power to admit that it was adorable.

"I got us some food. Are you hungry?" "Uh, no!" Kokichi lied. Shuichi might have been fooled if it wasnt for- *rrrrrummmble* "O-ok mabye a little." Kokichi said sounding a mix of embarrassed and defeated.

Shuichi smiled at the blushing leader, sitting next to him and seting the food down on the table. "Uh.. thanks for the food" Kokichi looked almost confused when he said this as if he wanted to say more, Shuichi was puzzled by this but didnt say more as he didnt want to pry.

It was a while after they had finished their food, they were just talking and Shuichi noticed that Kokichi had gone quiet. He looked to his side and saw Kokichi with his head on the table, fast asleep.

Shuichi smiled fondly watching the sleeping leader, lips slightly parted and hair covering his face. Shuichi reached down to brush some of the hair away from his eyes, and then he realized...

He might have a small crush on the sleepy boy.

He had always had a fascination with Kokichi, it was because of how mysterious he was, he always masked himself in lies and it was hard to tell what part of him was true. This motive has allowed him to see a side of Kokichi nobody had ever seen before, and this side of the supreme leader was surprisingly cute. 

The rest of their time spent in the dinning hall was rather uneventful, but soon enough an uninvited guest showed up.

Miu came strutting into the dinning hall like she owned the place, Shuichi kind of knew what was coming next, yet it still surprised him a bit.

"Hey Pooichi! How and you and your boy-toy doin'!" Miu yelled from across the room, Shuichi was afraid she would wake Kokichi up with how loud she's being. He looked toward the dozzing boy, and he did stir, but luckily didn't wake up.

"We're doing fine Miu" Shuichi said with a sigh, not wishing to put up with her vulgar nonsense.

"Hey! Why are you even putting up with that rat? He hasn't done anything for us!" She said with an accusatory tone. "That doesn't mean we should just forget about him" he retorted. "Oh who the hell would care if he died? The lying little abortion doesnt have any friends anyway!" She shot back, Miu was starting to get on Shuichi's nerves. "He does have people who care about him! I care about him!"

That sentence sliped out before he could register what he was saying, but it was the truth. He did care for Kokichi, and he wasnt going to let Miu bully him like this!

"Oh please, you probably only want to fuck him!" She yelled at the frustrated detective. "No, Miu dispite what you may believe, just because I care about him does not mean I want to fuck him!" Shuichi shouted with a hard glare.

Miu suddenly dropped her cocky deminor and started sputtering excuses "Heeee! N-no need t-o be s-so harsh I-I was only j-joking!" She quickly scampered out the dinning hall after that.

Shuichi sighed and looked at Kokichi, it was a wonder that the boy was still asleep after all that. Shuichi thought for a moment and decided to wake him up and go to the courtyard to get some fresh air.

"Kokichi? Time to wake up" He shook the snoozing boy gently, as to not startle him. "Come on, nap time is over"

"Nngh... mm?" Kokichi's eyes fluttered open and he turned toward Shuichi. "*yawn* Hey Shumai..." He lazily spoke rubbing his eyes.

It took all of Shuichi's will power to not pull the small boy into a hug. he finally accepted that he was adorable like this, but he resisted and gave a warm smile to the tired leader.

"Do you want to go to the courtyard with me?" Shuichi calmly asked Kokichi, he hoped he would say yes because he genuinely enjoyed the other boys company.

"Okay *yawn* did anyone come into the dining hall while I was asleep?" Shuichi panicked for a second, if he told him that Miu came in he would probably ask why and what was he going to say?! 'Oh, Miu came in and said I was taking care of you because I want to fuck you' He did not want to explain that to Kokichi.

"Uh, no" He felt bad lying to Kokichi, but Shuichi was more worried that the supreme leader would catch the lie more than anything.

"Mm, okay.." Kokichi felt like that was a lie, but was to exhausted to press it. Meanwhile, Shuichi was elated that Kokichi hadnt caught onto the lie.

"Well, uh, lets get going then" The detective said hesitantly, still wary that Kokichi might find the lie.

The two boys left the dinning hall, luckily, with no-one else bothering them. They found a nice spot of shade beneath a tree, and sat down.

"Uh, hey Shuichi?" Kokichi started "Yeah?" Shuichi let him continue.

"... Why are you doing this for me?"

That question caught Shuichi off guard, he knew the answer, he just feared that Kokichi wouldn't believe him. "Because I care about you." He finally answered.

"Dont lie to me, Shuichi." Kokichi said in a raspy voice still tried because of the motive. "Im not lying Kokichi! I do care about you!" Shuichi turned around so he could look Kokichi in the eye, "Im not doing this because I want to mock you, you didnt have a choice when we forced the motive on you. And I'm doing this because I care and want to make up for ganging up on you like that!" He practicality yelled at the small boy, meanwhile, Kokichi stared at the detective intently trying to detect a lie that wasnt there.

When the leader realized that Shuichi was being sincere, tears pricked the corner of his eyes, and he asked "Well why do you care about me!?"

Shuichi thought back to when he was in the kitchen, when he thought about why Kokichi was so fasinating to him. So he chose to tell Kokichi his opinion.

"Well you always intrigued me and I was so determined to figure you out, but then this motive was introduced and I got to see a side of you that no-one else has! You are really sweet and... kind of... cute." Shuichi blushed furiously as he said that last part, and once the mumbled words reached Kokichi's ears, both boys where flustered.

"Well... thank you" Kokichi finally responded, after that it went back to silence. But oddly enough it wasnt awkward silence, it was comfortable silence, neither of them said anything because there was nothing to say.

It was a while of this silence and Shuichi was contemplating whether or not to tell the supreme leader how he felt, he was about to do it when he felt a sudden weight on his shoulder.

He looked to the side and couldnt help but smile like an idiot at what he saw, Kokichi had fell asleep and fallen on the detectives sholder.

Once again Shuichi wanted nothing more than to scoop the small boy into a hug, but he decided against it and sat contently with Kokichi sleeping peacefully on his shoulder.

He wasnt sure how much time had passed when he felt the weight lift off of his side, but he heard a small yawn and looked to see Kokichi rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, and stretching a tiny bit.

"Morning sleepyhead" Shuichi said, amused by the others tired expresion. "Mmm... *yawn* hey Saishu..." He lazily responded, not being able to pick up on the other's teasing tone. Shuichi thought this was absolutely adorable, but Kokichi was clearly getting more sleepy by the second and it was getting late so he decided to take the drowzy boy back to his dorm.

"Come on lets get you back to your dorm" He said with an affectionate sigh, Kokichi simply nodded and sluggishly got up from with Shuichi's help.

The two boys moved painfully slowly as Kokichis sleepiness was clearly effecting his movements and in order to not take all night, Shuichi lifted Kokichi up and carried him bridal style. It may have been a trick of the light but Shuichi could've sworn he saw Kokichi's cheeks dusted a light pink.

"Thanks Shumai..." "No problem" Shuichi was quickly walking through the school hoping to not run into anyone, whereas Kokichi's main corcern was staying awake. He felt safe in Shuichi's arms, and the constant swaying was rocking him into a gentle slumber.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at Kokichis dorm. Shuichi was about to ask Kokichi for him room key before he heard quiet snores from the boy, he once again looked down and unsurprising saw Kokichi fast asleep in his arms.

He sighed and thought of how to resolve this problem, he didnt want to wake up Kokichi as he clearly needed the sleep, so he thought it would be a good idea to take him to his room. Walking to his room, Kokichi stured a bit in his sleep. Shuichi took the opportunity to shift the boy in his arms so he could get his room key from his pocket.

It was a mystery how he did it, but somehow he managed to open the door. He stepped inside and laid Kokichi down on the bed, he was about to lay down to sleep on the floor when his arm was caught in a weak grasp.

"Mm.. stay" Kokichi managed to say " I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going to sleep on the floor-" "you can sleep on the bed *yawn* with me...if you want"

Shuichi's face flushed a shade of crimson as the slurred words finally hit him, he eventually gave in and slipped into the bed with the leader.

Kokichi fell asleep pretty quickly after that, leaving Shuichi alone with his thoughts. He was about to drift off as well but then he noticed that Kokichi had cuddled up to him, he felt his face get hotter and his heart melt at how cute Kokichi was being.

The detective soon returned the embreace and hugged back, when he did this he saw Kokichi slowly open one of his eyes and mumble the words,

"Love you Shumai..."

Shuichi smiled and kissed Kokichi's forehead,

"Love you too, Kokichi"
