An Ocean, Your Love
The waves endlessly tumble and crash over my legs as I sit on the sand. My waist gets wet when the rising tide hugs me. The orange sphere of burning fire starts to fall below the horizon, making the blue sky turn into a red and yellow ocean. I'm dumbfounded by the beauty of the coming dusk, yet I fear it. Despite the gorgeousness of sunsets, they always scare me. The monsters come, wanting to foist their power over me.
I stand up, before the sun turns it's job over to the moon. It turns out that I'm too late, because I can feel the monstrosities of the night attack me. They tug at my heart, they move my body, they whisper lies to me. It's all a game to them. I'm just a pawn, a game piece, a puppet. One monster clasps my heart, and won't let go. I run, for all I'm worth, away from the ocean, towards the citylight. When I reach my safe haven, my home, I get swallowed up.
I'm not swallowed up by the fiends of the darkness, but rather the villains of the crowd. I'm pushed, shoved, and tossed like a ragdoll. In fact, I am a ragdoll. The evils in the shadows and the evils in the open fling me. They fling me, and burn me to the point that I'm senseless. I feel nothing, and I don't want to feel anything. It's just how I am. It's how I'll always be. My life has always been this way; I've never gotten out of the deep valley that I fell into. I cry out for help, but no one comes. I've been stuck, until now.
After being consumed, I stick my hand out, hoping to be found, but believing I won't. When I feel Your hand grab mine, I pull out from Your grip; You came on too strong. When I'm regurgitated by the monsters, and I see You, I run. You're too beautiful for someone like me. You're too nice, too perfect for someone like me. I don't deserve to be saved by You.
As I run, I look back. Instead of seeing You chase after me, I see the demons of the open, and of the shadows. I'm not running anymore, I'm sprinting, and towards the ocean. They hunt me, not for a feast, but to have me as a trophy. Despite my efforts, they reach me. They take me, and they beat me. They tear me apart, and they rip me raw. Then they leave me. To die.
I lay there, on the sand, in the darkness. I'm alone. I'm afraid. I'm terrified. Then I see You. You, and Your love, tower over me. You kneel down, and You comfort me.
"Don't be afraid, for you are loved," You declare in Your alluring voice. You pick me up, and You save me. You carry me to the ocean, and submerge my sins. You heal me; You wash me white, and now I know. Your love is an ocean. Your love has saved my soul.
