Chapter 9 - Demon
Ayato's POV
After the school day I was about to head home when I remembered that I had said to that boy from yesterday that I would attend one of his club meetings, so I turned around and headed to the occult club room. After passing the other students heading towards the exit, I looked inside the club room to see the boy from yesterday reading a book alone in a chair.
"What are you reading?" I asked, causing the boy to flinch, most likely due to the fact he was not aware of my presence.
"A-a book about... demons..." he replied, avoiding eye contact as his cheeks went slightly red.
"That sounds... intriguing," I responded, not being aware that there were other topics I found an interest in other then the natural wildlife.
The boy looked up at me from under his bangs, seemingly not expecting my response.
"You... are interested... in that stuff..?" he asked, his posture beginning to relax as he looked me in the eyes.
I noticed a certain... spark in his eyes when he made eye contact with me. Like my answer made him... happy. I liked to see him happy. I never want to see him feeling any negative emotions again.
"Would you like to... read it... with me? The other club members won't be coming for... a while. They're all busy..." he asked, interrupting my thoughts.
It seemed me reading with him made him happy, so I agreed. We read the book the whole way through, and it seemed as though it had finished as soon as it had started. I found the book extremely intriguing, which only made me more intrigued.
"Umm..." smaller male said, breaking my thoughts as I looked at him, "I just remembered that... we don't know each other's names... sorry... I'm Oko Ruto..."
"Oh yeah, I'm Ayato Aishi, pleasure to meet you, Oko," I said, feeling my expression shift into a slight smile.
Oko's face suddenly went red at my smile. It was... I don't know how to describe it. Why is all of this happening?
