Chapter 18.5 - Asleep
No-one's POV
Osorō grinned as Ayato's character flew off the side of the screen, a big 'GAME' appearing in the middle.
"I told you I'm a master at this game!" He stared down at the other, who smiled back.
"I never said I didn't believe you."
"Yet you fought me anyway?"
"You seemed like you were having... fun."
Ayato was fairly certain that was the correct emotion. He was also fairly certain he was sharing the same feeling.
Osorō stopped for a second, cheeks slightly pink. Then he laughed at Ayato's concern for how entertained the other was.
The pair sat smiling for a while. They didn't think they had ever felt this good before in their lives, at least in recent memory for Osorō.
However, the moment did not last long as Ayato let out a yawn.
"Tired of losing?"
Ayato chuckled, but placed his control back in its place.
"It's pretty late and we do still have school tommorow."
"Fuck school."
Ayato shook his head, but nevertheless stayed at Osorō's side.
"Cats or dogs?"
"What?" Osorō chuckled.
"It's a common conversation starter isn't it? If made to choose between a cat and a dog, which would you pick?"
"I wouldn't pick either, someone else could deal with them."
"Okay then, there is no one but you in the world." Something in Ayato grew agitated at the thought, but he pushed it aside. "You can only choose one animal to stay with you for the rest of time, which is it?"
"You really want your answer, huh? Well... I guess a cat? Like you mentioned before it's skilled and shit."
"Your animal soulmate."
"This was a set-up, I know it."
"You can prove nothing."
Osorō rolled his eyes, but could stop the corner of his lips from turning up.
"Alright then, what about you? Cat or dog?"
"Cat."
"What, really want to keep my animal counterpart around longer?"
Ayato glanced up at him before looking over at whatever his ants were up to.
Osorō's eyes widened slightly, his face tinted pink.
He lent further back into his sitting position, before turning to look at Ayato, who was also blushing, just not as hard.
"Wow you were right it is getting late," Osorō suddenly announced to the air in front of him.
"Not getting, is. It's 2 in the morning."
"Oh shit it is actually late."
Ayato chuckled. Then and idea suddenly hit him, something he remember seeing in a sappy romance movie his parents watched. So, as calmly as he possibly could, he leaned his head on Osorō's shoulder.
Osorō immediately flushed red, but remained still.
Given that reaction, Ayato made himself more comfortable, cuddling up with the more muscular man who, in turn, wrapped one arm around him in order to make his position more secure.
Silently, the pair stayed in that position the rest of the night, even when they eventually fell asleep.
