Chapter 11- Delinquents
Ayato's POV
Once again I walked to school with the trio of males, smiling once again when they all got into another bicker (That's another word for a verbal fight, in case it's just a British thing :P). Seeing them argue was somewhat comforting, which I think is a strange thing to say about people arguing, but it just seemed so playful that it didn't cause any concern that they were legitimately arguing.
Once we reached school we did our new-found routine, saying our goodbyes then going to our separate classes.
Once the bell rang for lunch I decided to take a walk around the school, just to get familiar with the grounds of the school. Halfway through I ended up back at the area with the people with the weapons. I took a little bit to observe them from a distance and recognised one of them as the guy from the alley. That helped me connect the dots and come to the conclusion that they were the schools 'bad boys' or 'delinquents', which helps explain with Aso wanted to stay away from them.
Satisfied with my assumption, I continued on my walk and kept going. I crossed the track and around the back of a blossom tree, finding a bench. I continued on until I felt something. A presence.
Someone was following me, and had been for a while. I continued for a while then abruptly turned around in order to try reprehend the pursuer, but they were stronger and faster and instead grabbed my arms tightly and held them in place.
We made eye contact and I immediately recognised him as the alley-guy. Tension rose between the two of us as neither made a move, waiting for the other to act first.
He gave in first as he spoke.
"What were you doing staring at us like that, kid?" He said, his big coat and the way he was purposefully leaning over me causing him to overall look more intimidating.
"Cat," I said, causing him to stall for a second, his grip still as tight as before so I couldn't escape.
"What?" He asked after a few seconds of confused silence on his part.
"Cat. The method of intimidation you were using was similar to that of a cat, making yourself seem bigger to appear more intimidating. Cats are not the only animals to do this, but it's what popped into my head first," I explained, causing his face to go a bit red.
"Wha- don't compare me to a cat, I am much more than a feeble feline!" He said, seemingly annoyed at my comparison.
"Cats are not feeble, they could definitely kill mostly anything if they put their mind to it due to their agility and instincts," I responded.
"Whatever," he said, after another short silence, "That doesn't explain why you were watching us."
"I was curious as to why people seem to be intimidated by you, and I figure it is because you are one of the schools 'delinquents', are you not?" I questioned.
"Yes, we are so I'd advise you to not go staring at us again," he said, his voice going deeper as he gripped my wrists harder, causing pain and becoming overall more intimidating.
He kept us like that for a while, staring into my eyes with negative emotions. He let go as we heard a voice from behind him.
"Osorō!" The voice called, causing the delinquent to turn around.
"What do you want, Megamo," he growled under his breath.
"You to stop intimidating students for a start," The Megamo guy responded.
The two began to argue as I stood to the side. Just as I was about to sneak away, I heard Megamo call my name.
"Ayato... Aishi, correct?" He questioned, skeptically.
"Yes," I said, making eye contact with him as he turned a very light shade of red.
"... if he does this again come to me, I will most likely be in the student council room," he said, appearing to have wanted to say something else but decided against it.
I nodded at him and walked away, eating my lunch then heading to my class.
