"She is the angel of the orphanage," eaves drooping was a wonderous thing. It was a thing that most deny, yet do anyway, and for not so young Angelica, that was exactly what she was doing. Eaves dropping. Her bum stuck out as she crouched, head leaning forward, ear pressed tightly against the wall. "The perfect daughter anyone could wish for,"

The wooden floorboards created behind, announcing the presence of another individual. An unwelcome one. Swiftly, Angelica silently, turned around, coming face to face with the pale, seemingly innocent face of Cade. Fudge cakes. Her eyes widened, recognising his smirk of doom. She could hear the scolding already. The words floating in her mind, pinpointing exactly what she would say. A shiver ran down her spine. With a quick glare, Angelica quickly grasped Cade's arm, refusing to let go for dear life. So much so, it caused a quick glance to flicker across Cade's eyes, before a shimmer of mischief occupied them. A shimmer that made her gulp. "Stop it Angelica!" The cry echoes off the bare walls. Her mind froze. All thoughts stopping as if in a traffic jam. Her heart raced, eyes wide, attempting, no, trying desperately to register what had just happened. And just when she did, she was met with two additional gazes. One, of wish was calm, considerate even. The other? One that promised pain and suffering. Her breathing picked up, as she quickly let go under the harsh stare. The coldness emitting from it, seeming to deep into her skin. As if his arm was poison, she was quick to let go, jumping back a few miles to add distance between the two. But that didn't stop Miss Dare's harsh gaze. What would? She had no clue.

"Angelica," the word was merely a whisper among the silence, yet contained a storm within its depths. Her crystal blue eyes darted towards the unknown women. A pinch of tension left her at the sight of the women's smile. Please, oh please let that be a smile of love over time. She could imagine it. Her warm, comforting embrace when the world seemed unfair. The looks that only they would share. The pleading for deserts and she would be forced to accept out of the pure kindness and adoration of her heart. A life outside these walls. A real mother. Someone who loved and cherished her, for who she was. It was what her heart longed for, pained for.

"Angelica! Did you hear a single word I said?!" Once again, her body froze, breaking out of its thoughts. Her head hung in shame. Drooping like a scolded puppy.

"No Miss Dare," her voice was but a mere mumble. Humble and meek. One brimming with guilt and shame. She didn't even glare glance up. If she did, who knows what would happen.

"Off to bed!" Without supper? That was the lone thought that occupied Angelica's mind. Food. The delicious, delicate taste that made her mouth water even thinking about it. Which she wasn't. Definitely not. Then why is your mouth watering? Shoosh! Blinking a few times, her dazed eyes come back into focus. Silently, without another word, she slowly nods. Dragging her feet along the ground, her eyes trained on nothing else, she heads off to her room. The wood creaks under her weight, floorboards seem to come and go as she walks. Another thought graces her mind. Revenge. Sweet, sweet revenge. Heaven knows he deserves it; Cade, that was.

With a tiny screech, the brassy door handle turns in her grasp. The broken door flies open, revealing a small room with two beds. With a heavy sigh, she collapsed onto the hard bed. The mattress only bouncing once, hardly giving way. The two often fought a silent battle. Angelica wished for comfort. The bed, however, was a stubborn old fool, that refused to give in. To say the least,  it was as painful as a brick. Flopping over, her head melts into the pillow underneath. A loud growl crackles throughout the room, announcing all in its presence of the hunger that ate away. Don't blame her, you silly beast! It's not her fault that you weren't fed! If you hear someone talking about you, you would do the exact same thing! If anything, blame Cade! With that grumpy thought, her eyes came to a soft close. Sleep soon taking over. Little did she know, that was the last time she would be sleeping in that bed. Nor seeing the eerie iron arch of Sputtleput Orphanage. Not even, stepping a foot into the place again.
