An Interview with Tiffany

I interviewed Tiffany (@laughterandjynx), successful Wattpad author and writer of The Last Virgin Standing, a great Wattpad novel that centres around main protagonist Charlotte Summers, while she tries to protect her virginity from the five main players of the school. TLVS has over a million reads, and is by far one of my favourite books on Wattpad.

Lettie: Hi! First of all, thank you for agreeing to do this, I've been really looking forward to talking to you.

Tiffany: Well, thank you! I'm really excited for this interview, haha. I've only done one--and that was in Luke's point of view!

Lettie: Haha! So, Im a big fan of your book 'The Last Virgin Standing'. How did you come up with such an original plot line?

Tiffany: Thank you! This is sort of embarrassing, actually. I was in Vietnam visiting family. I was taking a shower and the name "Tyler Bradshaw" popped into my head. Next came Charlotte's character and a bunch of other guy names. I guess it just evolved from there.

Lettie: Well, I guess it's true that people get inspiration in the weirdest places!

Tiffany: It is true! For my stories, I never really had to think about the plot line. They just came naturally, like I was stalking the characters. Is that creepy?

Lettie: No! So I take from that that you never really had much of a problem with writers block?

Tiffany: Oh! I do. Every writer does. I see the big picture, but I definitely have writer's block when it comes to individual chapters. I have to be feeling the right emotion and I can't just force the words out. I've done some of my chapters like that, and you can tell which ones they are because they're just so bad.

Lettie: Well I don't think any of them are bad. Also, how did you come up with the individual personalities for each of the characters?

Tiffany: Thank you, haha. Well, I based them off of cliches (those cliches are listed in the summary). And I just added things to their character to make them a little less expected. I wanted their personalities to be different. I hate stories like mine where all of their characters are the same. I wanted it to be at least a little bit realistic...even though the situation is not, haha.

Lettie: Interesting. And how did you think the story was going to play out when you first thought of the idea? Did it follow your original plot?

Tiffany: Uh, I honestly wasn't expecting to finish it. I was just going to write a couple of chapters and give up on it. For the most part, yes.

Lettie: For the most part? Haha. We're there ever any times where you got your characters into a situation that you just couldn't get out of, so had to rewrite it?

Tiffany: I changed little bits and pieces. Charlotte's name changed a couple of times, haha. Once. In chapter one, actually, haha.

Lettie: Speaking of Charlotte, do you ever compare her to yourself?

Tiffany: Sometimes! But the only thing we have in common is that our parents are divorced.

Lettie: And, finally, what do you think you would do if you were Charlotte?

Tiffany: I would buy myself a ticket for the next train out of town, haha.

Lettie: Haha! Well, thank you for talking to me, you were a pleasure to interview.

Tiffany: Anytime! Thank you for the interview! :)

Tiffany was lovely to interview, and I hope that her books continue to grow in popularity in the future.
