Interview #5
Interviewer: Ankita
AnkuGarg
**************
“Hey, most_bay. I've been awaiting my interview for about two months now and I'm not getting any younger.” Anku sprang up from her chair and folded her arms.
“Hello, my friend!” I greeted Ankita, waving both my hands. “No need to unleash the crazy side right now. It's already your turn.”
“You know how patient I am.” Anku winked and turned to glance at Akram. “You also know I have a little crush on someone and the long wait is not good for my sanity.”
“Oh boy! Let's get started, then.” I looked at Mel and Akram. “You ready, guys?”
They nodded.
“Good luck, cuz!” Asha shouted from across the room, waving her hand excitedly.
“Thanks, Ash!” Ankita laughed and hurried to take her seat next to Akram and started right away.
“So, Akram, what do you like the most, other than Melody's coffee and Wolfie?”
“We are only talking about things not people, right?” Akram asked.
“Right!”
“Well, I like many things. Music is on top of the list.” He scratched his forehead thoughtfully. “There's also sweets, Junk food, water ballet...”
“Excuse me ? Water ballet?” Anku gawked at Akram, eyes like saucers.
“Oh! Did I say that out loud?!” Akram's nose wrinkled.
“Oh, yes! You did!”
Akram raked his fingers through his hair and blushed. “Ok! You got me. Just don't tell people outside, alright?”
Anku chuckled. “All right. I won't… next question.”
“What is the reason for naming Wolfie as 'Wolfie'?”
“Actually, he's named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. That was Mozart's nickname in the movie Amadeus.”
“Cool!” she exclaimed.
Anku turned to Melody and smiled.
“Could you share your recipe of coffee, Melody? I love coffee and since Akram is so fond of your coffee, I guess it must be pretty good.”
Melody's cheeks turned rosy and she glanced at Akram. “It's not me. It's the fresh Brazilian beans.”
“Come on! I'm pretty sure it's you.” Akram flashed a dazzling grin.
“Nope. Can't take credit for that.” Mel dropped her gaze and shook her head, her mouth curving on one side.
Anku tuned to Akram again and asked, “out of all the moments you've spent with Melody, which one you like the most?”
“You mean just one?” Akram tilted his head and twisted his mouth.
"Yeah”
“Sorry. It's really difficult.” He shook his head.
Anku sighed and turned toward Melody. “Same question to you, Melody. Not the moments spent with yourself, but with superman.” She popped her head toward Akram. “It is pretty difficult to pinpoint a single moment, I know, but still…”
Mel looked down for a moment, twirling her short hair. “well, uh! I'm sorry. Even though I know I don't deserve it, but I'm forever thankful for every moment.”
Akram's whipped his head and lifted his brows. “Hey, please stop saying that. You deserve much more.”
“You always say that, but it won't change the truth,” Mel whispered and bit her bottom lip.
Akram sighed and looked frustrated. He stared at the ceiling and closed his eyes for a second.
Ugh! Mel and her inferiority complex!
“Next question, Anku,” I urged to spare them the awkwardness. “I've noticed you switch between them often.”
“Yeah, is that okay?” Anku raised an eyebrow.
“Sure, sure! Go ahead,” I said, balancing the camera on my tired hand.
“Akram. From where did you learn all those gentlemanly gestures? I didn't know that God still manufactures a species like you i.e. one who is so well mannered.” Anku giggled.
Akram blushed, rubbed his eyebrow and chuckled softly. “Thank you. Uh! This is an overstatement. It's just that... my parents taught me to be respectful. They're amazing people.”
“Oh I'm sure they are!”
“Has there been any time when you forgot any of those manners and felt guilty afterwards?”
“Yeah. Many.” Akram's mouth twisted. “I'm human.”
"I doubt it!" Anku snickered.
“The first time when you met Melody in a park, both of you were reading books. Which books were those?”
I chuckled against my will.
“What else can you expect from a crazy reader?” Ankita shrugged and rolled her eyes.
Akram stroked his chin. “well… I think… it was about the making of a concert grand piano.”
“How about you, Melody?” I asked her. I didn't even remember that one…
“It was a book by Severna Rogers that I never got to finish,” Mel answered so quickly as if it had been only yesterday. She obviously remembered it more than I did!
“Akram. If you were asked to dedicate a song to the most special person of your life, which song would that be and also name that lucky person.”
Akram's eyes brightened and he smiled fondly. “That would to my mother.”
“AWW!” The audience said at the same time.
“Aw! That's so sweet!” Anku clapped her hands together. “Which song?”
“ I don't know. Nothing seems enough, maybe…” Akram massaged his forehead. “Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion.”
“Wonderful choice!” I exclaimed.
“Akram. Since the entire story moves from Melody's point of view, is there anytime when you have felt like, you know, expressing yourself more?”
“I do express myself. You don't have to be inside my head to see it.” Akram smirked and crossed his arms.
“Hmm!” Anku raised an eyebrow. “That's a good point.”
“Melody, have you ever felt like,"Damn, I didn't want to tell that to everyone out there. Why did Most_bay write that in the story?”
“Um! It is sort of embarrassing sometimes… but I don't think he can do anything about it. I kinda force him to listen to me ranting all the time and he feels obligated to write it.” Mel frowned and looked away.
“Oh! Okay!” Anku seemed taken aback by the answer but still moved on to the next.
“Melody, if you ever get a chance to give another name to Akram, a nickname, for instance, what name would that be?”
“I think I answered this one before.” Mel’s lips twitched in amusement.
Anku suddenly remembered and gave herself a facepalm. “Ooooh! I'm so sorry! Rama asked the same question before!”
“It's okay, Anku. Hit the next question!” I rolled my hand in the air to indicate speed. My arm was killing me. (Not literally! That would be a nice horror story idea though! Hmm!)
“Alllll right!” Anku turned to look at Akram again, batting her eyelashes.
“Can I find someone like you, Akram? Are there guys out there who are exactly like you?”
“I'm sorry, what??” Akram's eyes widened.
“Hey! I mean well! I think you're an admirable person and I would like to find someone who's cut from the same cloth.” Anku winked. “It's not a crime, is it?”
“Umm!” Akram's blushed and massaged the back of his head, his eyes darting between Melody and moi.
And the awkward Akram is back!
“Could you drop it Anku?” I demanded. “You're making him uncomfortable.”
Anku rolled her eyes and sighed.
“Hey! Mo! Don't you dare pick on my cousin!” Asha shouted and dashed suddenly in our direction with a cute frown on her baby face.
“Whoa! Whoa! Easy, Ash!” I dropped the camera and held my hands up. “I'm just asking her politely to move on to the next question.”
Gotta be careful not to upset Asha! She can make me drink coffee made of toilet water or something!
“But I'm out of questions!” Anku looked at Ash with an innocent expression, pouting her lower lip.
“It's okay, cuz! Come with me. I'll get you coffee and pizza on the house. Don't let anyone bother you.” Asha patted her on the shoulder and gave me a sharp glare.
“Oh, Asha! I really love you.” Anku got up and held Asha in a dramatic hug . “Don't change ever, because your craziness is what spreads happiness everywhere.”
“You bet I won't! Crazy people are the coolest!” Asha hugged Anku back and stuck her tongue out at me.
Oh boy! She's crazy, but I love her too!
