Chapter 20

Black-owned business of the day:
The Bag Girl Shop

The Bag Girl Shop is a woman/ black-owned business. Established in 2020, while in quarantine, with a dollar and a dream. Being a mother to a medically complex child I've always carried more than one bag for my daughter while trying to carry my own (eventually I gave up on carrying a bag for myself). I would always joke and call myself the bag lady. After some years of my daughter's progress, we were finally able to carry one bag for her, which allowed me to carry a handbag of my own for a change. I didn't want my handbags to be of the ordinary. People noticed when I carried multiple bags for my daughter so I wanted to make sure my handbags had the same effect. My goal is to bring the fun into bag fashion with the latest trendy bags to offer while guaranteeing durable and high-quality affordable items. We will always be committed to giving great service to our growing Bag Girls customer base.

"You not cold?" I asked as my teeth started to clatter.

"Are you anemic or something?"

"Hell yeah, I am. I'm dying right now"

I wore a jacket today but, it wasn't doing its job. I felt like my nipples were gonna freeze off at any given moment.

As I was complaining about me being cold, my boobs twitched in pain. I know I'm not the only female who gets sharp ass pains under my boobs close to my heart then when I breathe it moves around. I send in a quick prayer, hoping it'a not cancer.

"I think I'm dying"

I told La-Shawna worriedly. She just scoffed and started laughing at me. I'm having a crisis and she thinks it's a joke. I should've run over her foot when I had the chance to this morning.

"Or you're starting your period"

Maybe she's right. Sometimes I forget I'm supposed to have a monthly. Life is good then boom, here comes my punishment.

Ignoring the fact that I'm freezing, I got back to watching Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail. This is by far my favorite one.

Tyler Perry movies are comedy gold. It starts and everyone is happy and music is playing then boom, someone is getting abused, someone have cancer, someone's husband is cheating, someone is addicted to drugs, but Mr. Brown and Cora be happy as hell though.

There are always at least two or more plot twists involved in his movies. But, if no one died is it even considered a Tyler Perry movie?

"I forgot to tell you, my friend Joshua is trying to get at you"

"Joshua? I don't know anyone named Joshua"

"You don't know Joshua? Tall, dirty ass nigga that stay wearing the busted ass 1s? Fucked up hairline? Always got on that musty Nike sweatshirt and those dirty ass cargo pants?"

She didn't have to violate him like that. Never let a black person describe you when you're not around. I promise you they're going to violate you.

"He sounds like a nice guy but, I'm good. I'll pass on that, respectively"

"Awww why? He's a nice guy"

After she just dogged him out? She's going to ask me that? She's a special person.

Even though she acts slow sometimes, she's still one of my best friends. When I told her that I left the sorority she put time apart to spend time with me.

Sometimes we're with the group and sometimes we're not. I like it better when it's just us since the boys always make us do dumb stuff. The last time we linked they took us mountain climbing.

I thought we were just going mountain climbing. Come to find out, it was race-themed. We all had to ride a go-kart up the big mountain that had race tracks built into it. When you got to the top of the mountain you were sucked into a dark hole.

I lost my voice for a whole week after that. The boys seemed to enjoy it though. Dominic flew out of the whole car and landed on his head. He got right back up and laughed it off.

"What's that smell?" I asked as I turned the television's volume down.

Only black people put down the tv when they're trying to smell something.

As of right on cue, I heard someone knock at my door. The minute I opened the door I found out that the smell was a rotten one. It was Iyanna who had Dorothy, the AKA President, standing at my door.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Dorothy, Iyanna"

I said acknowledge them both, one with more respect than the other. They just stood there staring at me. Is there cheese on my face from the nachos?

"Can we please come in?"

"You can come in Mrs. Dorothy, she can stay at the door"

She nodded her head and walked in. Iyanna was looking big mad standing at the door with her arms crossed on her chest. I'm sorry but, I don't let dogs in my apartment.

"I must say, your place looks very put together"

"Thank you very much. What brings you by today?"

I wasn't trying to be rude but, after this movie, we're supposed to watch Home Alone. I was trying to get this movie finished as soon as possible.

"Iyanna has something to tell you"

"I'm sorry for making you do dumb stuff for you to be an AKA. " Iyanna said as she sucked her teeth.

"That doesn't seem very sincere to me.She wasn't even speaking loud enough. Wouldn't it be amazing if she repeated it?"

I said looking at Mrs. Dorothy. She nodded her head then looked back at Iyanna. If she's gonna be an asshole to me, I at least could have some fun.

"I'm sorry that you're too much of a spoiled brat that you couldn't do all the tasks everyone else was doing. I'm sorry that you left the sorority because you were too good for us. If Ms. Dorothy wasn't here right now I would've done something else"

"Bitches always want to fight but I bet you won't have a reading contest. With your illiterate ass that's in college still reading like an elementary schooler"

She looked shocked. By this time Ms. Dorothy was sitting on my couch with La-Shawna. Their undivided attention was at the door. They mindlessly started eating the popcorn that was in between them.

"Only your ass feel that way, no one else thinks I can't read"

"Girl we have a whole group chat where we talk shit about you when it's your turn to read."

"Ms. Livings won't like that you guys are bullying me every time I read"

"She was the one that started the group chat miss thing"

She didn't know what to say. As she was standing there trying to process what was going on Dominic came down the hall. She instantly cheered up and face him.

"Hey Dominic, how are you doing today?" Dominic just nodded at her and got back to his phone.

"Hi baby"

He said once he saw me standing at the door. He had a toothy smile on his face as he attacked me in a hug. He was dancing like the little crackhead he is.

"Hey Dom, the movie is playing inside." He quickly went inside joining the two ladies on the couch.

"Are you two dating?"

"Maybe we are, maybe we're not. Find out the answer next time on 'mind your fucking business'"

I said slamming the door in her face. I don't understand why I was arguing with her. She's on the outside of my apartment. I could've been slammed the door in her face.

"I'm sorry about Iyanna, she's not the best at communicating with you. We came over here so she can apologize for embarrassing you. I called your parents and they would like for you to become an AKA again"

My eyes widened at the mention of my parents. Did they say who they are? Lord, please don't let this lady tell me my parents betrayed me. I told them to let me handle my school life alone.

Knowing them they probably went on and on about how their baby deserves to be a part of the best sorority on campus. I'm going to talk with them later.

"Sure, I'll be an AKA again but, some boundaries need to be set. I'm not going to do Iyanna's disgusting tasks like shaving her legs."

"And when did this happen?"

"Last week but, she's been torturing us since our first day"

She looked shocked when I said that. I guess she doesn't know how brutal Iyanna's tasks were. Nevertheless, she tried to hide her anger. She marched to the door and yanked it open.

"Lemme ask you a question, what task did you make the girls do last week?"

"I told you we I took them to feed the homeless downtown. They enjoyed it too, we received so much praise from them"

"So you didn't make the girls shave your hairy ass feet?"

And that's when Iyanna caught on that I told her what we did. She tried pleading her case but Ms. Dorothy wasn't having it. This is one good night.

"We need to talk now, let's go to my office"

Oohhhh baba bebe ba, she's in trouble.

I smiled at her as I waved goodbye. Ms. Dorothy took her by the collar of her shirt as she dragged her down the hall. She's about to get a strong talking to.

"What was that all about?"

Dominic asked as he placed my feet on his lap. He massaged my feet, causing me to sigh and dig deeper into the sofa.

"Iyanna is just getting in trouble for all the stupid things she made us do for us to be AKAs"

"What she needs to do is take Iyanna down from her position, she obviously can't be trusted"

We ignored the situation and started watching the movie. I tried to put my mind at ease but, all I could think about was Iyanna. She's an evil spirited person who won't stop until she gets her revenge.

I hope I'm not the next person on her list. That's if I wasn't already on there.
