A few days after Christmas, just 2 days from the end of the year, Josh was woken up in the middle of the night by 2 things. One, his phone flashing with a message, and two, Cassie violently throwing up in the bathroom. As he let his girl do what she had to, he looked at the two messages on his phone. One was from Cassie's mum, and the other from an unknown number.

Unknown: Hey Josh, it's Jessica. We need to talk, and soon. Call me when you can.

He then replied to Jessica's message with a stern expression.

Josh: No chance.

He then read the second message and his eyes went wide open.

Liz: Josh, get you and Cassie dressed, Beth's just gone into labour and she said she wanted you two here.

After looking at the second message, he saw Cassie come out of the bathroom looking much better than before.

Josh: You'd better get dressed.

Cassie: Why the hell would I wanna do that at 3 in the morning?

Josh: Because from what I've been told, your sister is in labour, so get dressed and hop in the car, the hospital isn't that far away.

The two then got ready and rushed to the hospital, where they found Jonathan waiting.

Jonathan: Hey you two. Sorry we had to wake you up, your mum insisted.

Cassie: It's okay, Dad.

Cassie hugged her dad, while Josh and Jon shared a handshake.

Josh: Good to see you again.

Jonathan: Yeah, you too. Sorry we didn't invite you to Christmas this year too.

Josh: Oh, that's okay, no worries.

Jonathan: Well, your presents from us are in our car. Remind me to give them to you before you go.

After a short walk, they arrived at the room where the rest of the family was. Beth's boyfriend Connor, Liz, Kieran and a stressed looking Beth all greeted them before she suddenly felt an urge to push.

Beth: Oh god, this is it!

Connor: Keep pushing baby, it'll be worth it.

A doctor and a nurse soon turned up after hearing Beth's screams of pain. After half an hour of solid pushing, Beth and Connors baby made its first appearance. The doctor gave Connor the chance to cut the cord, which he did with the biggest smile on his face. After the baby was wrapped up, they were handed to Beth.

Beth: My sweet baby boy...

Connor: Sure took his time getting here, but it was worth the wait.

Josh: So, you two thought about names?

Beth: Actually, Josh, me and Connor were thinking, and we want to name him Josh.

Josh was flabbergasted.

Cassie: You want to call the baby... Josh?

Josh: Ahh, why not? Josh is a great name.

The family all nodded in agreement as the doctor was then asked to take the photo of everyone there, which they did.

Doctor: Congratulations.

Liz: Thank you, Doctor.

As the doctor left, Cassie pulled Josh aside.

Cassie: Babe, there's something on my mind...

Josh: Which is?

Cassie: Well, it's just, after seeing all this and what's happened here, I think the time is right to tell them about our own baby.

Josh smiled at Cassie, looked back at the family, and then looked back at her.

Josh: If that's what you want, then let's do it.

Cassie: Thanks, babe!

After cradling the baby in her arms for a few minutes, Cassie and Josh then spoke up.

Josh: Ahem, so guys, me and Cassie have something to tell you.

Liz: Which is?

Jonathan: You've got me curious now...

Cassie: Well, let's just say that Beth's baby won't be the only new addition come September.

Liz: You mean...

Cassie: Yep, I'm pregnant!

Cassie's parents as well as Connor all engaged in a group hug, with Beth giving her sister a hug as well.

Beth: I'm so happy for you sis.

Cassie: Yep, here we all are. As one big happy family...

3 months later...

Cassie's bump was beginning to show now, and as she and Josh were watching a movie, Josh then remembered something.

Josh: Babe, there's something I wanna ask you.

Cassie: Ask away...

Josh: Do you wanna let fans know about... Our little one?

Cassie: OMG, YES!

Almost immediately, she got her phone out and took a couple of pictures. One of Josh hugging her from behind and another of their hands over her stomach, to really get the fans going.

peytonroycewwe: Well, our secret is secret no more! We're so excited to reveal to you that me and Josh are starting our own family! Roll on September!

Josh then used the same two photos and put them on his social media.

josh.s.32: Well here's some big news! Me and peytonroycewwe are gonna be parents in 6 months time!

No sooner had both of them put their phones down, they were flooded with notifications about their posts from family, friends and fans across the world. But one reply to Josh's post had him a little anxious.

billiekaywwe: ... 🙄

Josh: Seems like she's not really bothered by this...

Cassie: Ugh, when will she get it into her head that she will not spoil what me and you have, no matter what she tries?!

Josh: Looks like I might have to go and remind her myself.

Cassie: What do you mean by that?

Josh: I'm going to talk to her and see if I can get her our of our lives for good.

Cassie: Want me to come with you?

Josh: I got this babe, trust me!

Cassie: I do trust you babe, it's just... What if she tries something?

Josh grew a smug smirk on his face.

Josh: Believe me, if she tries anything I will personally make sure she regrets it.

He then messaged Jessica.

Josh: Meet me at Starbucks in half an hour, cos I know you're in town. We need to talk.

Almost as soon as he sent the message, Jessica replied.

Jessica: Thought there was no chance.

Josh: Yeah well I'm prepared to talk now, but no funny business.

Jessica: Fine, I'll see you there.

Josh: Well, that's sorted. I'm gonna go get ready.

As he got organised, Cassie began thinking what she could do to help, but then realised she might be better off staying home, not just for her sake but also for the baby. After 5 minutes, Josh re-emerged.

Josh: So, you want anything while I'm gone?

Cassie then gave him a kiss and hugged him.

Cassie: Just some chocolate, and a iced frappe from Starbucks.

Josh kissed her back before kneeling down to kiss her growing bump.

Josh: Now you look after mummy for me...

The dogs then barked goodbye to Josh as well.

Josh: And you guys, take care of her. I won't be long...

Buster snuggled up with the others on the sofa next to Cassie, as she watched her boyfriend leave.

Cassie: I hope he's gonna be okay...

After a drive to Starbucks, he parked up and saw Jessica waiting outside for him, so walked over and sat at her table.

Jessica: Well, hello to you too mister...

Josh: Save it. What's your game, hmm? Me and Cassie saw the reaction and comment you put on my Instagram picture this morning, so enlighten me, what are you up to?

Jessica: Believe me, Josh, the only thing I'm planning is how to get you back.

Josh: Well that's never gonna happen...

Jessica: I wouldn't be so sure of that. You see, I may have lost you to Cassie, but I have my ways...

Just then she stood up and made her way round the table to try and sit on Josh's lap, but he stood up just as Jessica began sitting down.

Jessica: Don't avoid me, Josh. We both know you still have feelings for me.

Josh: They died, a long time ago... Just like our baby boy died.

Jessica was beginning to well up with tears after what Josh had said.

Jessica: You... you remember James?

Josh: All the time, I think about the times we could have had. But then there was... the incident.

Jessica: I thought we agreed to never speak of that again...

Josh: We did, but that was when we were together. We're not now. And you know the saddest part about me and you? It's that if James were here today, maybe me and you would still be together. But no. We had to wreck it up for each other and screw everything up by cheating on each other.

Jessica: Josh...

Josh: Leave it. Just leave it. Because now, I'm happy. I'm happy because I have a girlfriend who is not only loving, but also faithful. She has not cheated on me at all, and never will.

Even after that speech, Jessica still grew a wry smile on her face and laughed a little bit.

Jessica: Haha... you keep thinking that, Josh. You keep on thinking that...

All of a sudden, he grew a concerned look on his face, with the realisation that maybe not all was what it seemed between him and Cassie. He then left and went back to his car without giving Jessica as much as a wave goodbye. As she watched him drive past, she spoke her true thoughts.

Jessica: Looks like this could work. Once you and Cassie have had a chance to talk this through and try to repair any cracks in your relationship, it'll be too late, and once your baby is all alone with mummy... I'll be there to take care of Daddy...

Meanwhile in the car, Josh could not get Jessica's words out of his head. He thought about them so much, he wasn't paying much attention to the road. When he turned at the intersection, a semi truck came from nowhere and hit Josh's car full on, and on Josh's side of the car. He was knocked out from the impact.

3 hours later...

Cassie was getting seriously worried now. Josh should have been back ages ago and she tried calling him 5 times, but they all went to voicemail. After pacing around the house a few more times, her phone rang, and she had lightening quick reactions to answer it.

Cassie: Hello?

Voice: Hello, is this Cassandra McIntosh?

Cassie: Erm, yeah... Who's speaking?

Voice: This is Dr Osborne from the hospital. I'm afraid your boyfriend, Josh, has been severely injured in a serious car crash. He was hit by a semi truck at 70mph and the car was a complete write off.

Cassie was left speechless as to what she had just heard. She grew a tear before listening to what else the doctor had to say.

Dr Osborne: Long story short, Josh suffered a broken arm, separated shoulder, a shattered kneecap and a punctured lung, which is still causing some internal bleeding. As well as this, he also suffered a lot of blood loss at the actual scene. He's in a critical condition, so I would advise you to come and visit him as soon as you can.

Cassie didn't need telling twice. She shot up from the chair she sat on to contain her emotions, quickly got dressed and went off to the hospital to see her boyfriend.

Cassie: Please be okay... Please be okay... Please be okay...

When she arrived, she asked for Josh at reception and Dr Osborne arrived.

Dr Osborne: You must be Cassandra. I'm Dr Osborne, Josh's surgeon.

Cassie: How is he, doc?

Dr Osborne: Well, due to the heavy amount of blood loss, we've had no alternative other than to put him in a medically induced coma until his blood levels rise and the punctured lung heals. It could take anything from a couple of days up to a month until he wakes up properly.

As Dr Osborne was paged to another room, Cassie couldn't help but cry at the sight of her boyfriend in the current state he was in.

Cassie: Oh, Joshy, my Joshy... please get better soon. Please. I can't go through these next few months alone. I need you.

She then grabbed Josh's limp hand, held it tight and kissed it before placing it on her small but indeed growing baby bump.

Cassie: I need you, Josh. WE need you.

As night began to fall, Cassie then began to fall asleep, holding Josh's hand, making sure he was safe, for now.
