Returning to Xavier's School

Charles' POV

We have to break away because I cry out in agony as I loose feeling in my legs.

"Charles, hold on." Erik reassures me. "We only have a few miles left. You can make it...You have to."

After minutes of pain, the train doors finally open to the nearest stop to the school.

"You're going to have...have to...carry me."

Erik jumps up, swinging me in the air with one arm underneath my knees, and the other under my neck. Our cases float behind us, but they turn fuzzy and they get further away. I can feel the days events drifting away with them, replacing them with sleep.

Erik's POV

His body flops like a rag doll. "...Charles." I say. "Charles! Come on, Charles, you have to stay awake! We're nearly there-we're nearly home!" But it's too late. I place my fingers to the side of his neck again, but this time to check his pulse. I sigh in great relief. He's still alive.

I can see the school in the distance, surrounded by orange, pink and purple wisps of the sunset.

I just stares at Charles' soft, pale face to keep me treading the last few steps towards the building.
A grey blur rushes towards me and a silvery boy takes our suitcases and the next thing I know, we're standing outside the entrance.
Charles' body shakes and he coughs. "Charles. We made it." I tell him.

"Erik..." He chuckles breathily, then leans up to reach me and we kiss again. I don't even care that everyone is crowded around us watching.

"Woah...what happened in Poland?!" Raven exclaims.

Hank clears his throat, embarrassed. "Ohhh..ohh...I-I was never expecting that."

Kurt appears beside him. "You're not the only one. And...What's with the skirt and tights?"

"I think it's actually kinda sweet." Jean remarks.

I part from Charles. "Hank! We need his wheelchair! And something to ease the pain!"

Hank brings the wheelchair, a bottle of water and a packet of painkillers. I carefully place Charles down.

"Thank you." I say.

Hank gives me a dumbfondered look. "Did you just thank me?"

"Yes. I did. And if you bring it up again, I'll take that suitcase and knock you out with it, Beasty."

Hank pushes his glasses up anxiously and steps away.

"Erik, don't be too hard on the others, remember?" Charles says from his wheelchair. But he's smiling.

"Are you alright, old friend?" I ask him, concerned.

"I think it's safe to say that we're more than friends now." He chuckles.

I cross my arms. "I'm not calling you 'old lover'."

Charles laughs, and then sighs. "What a week."

"And it will only get more adventurous from here."

"Erik, our relationship it's going to have to be subtle. I can't have it interrupting my work."

"More subtle than the entire school watching us kiss?" I smirk.

"Erm, yes. I should have thought of that earlier."

We pause, and I hold open the door for him.
"A game of chess, liebling?"

"Of course. And then...adventure awaits." He grins, and I follow after him through the door. Things will never be the same again.
