Hazel
(Sorry this chapter is so short)
"Come on!" Hazel yelled as the students of Soldier Training Camp dodged fake arrows. I jumped from platform to platform, aiming as best as I could. I hit a few kids right in the stomach, they had protective padding on of course. Some of the plastic arrows went right through the straw barriers, scaring a little one half to death. I sighed. Most of the kids were scurrying around like rats, but there was a couple who were doing good. A small girl with brown hair easily dodged the arrows nimbly and quickly. The other, a boy with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, ran quickly from barrier to barrier, dodging my arrows. A bell rang to signal the end of training, and the students grabbed their water bottles and left for the mess hall. I wiped a towel over my forehead and got a drink of water. "Next....time." I said through breaths. "You're doing bow and arrow." Hazel smiled, her eyes dancing in amusement. "Oh come on!" she said giving me a friendly punch. "They weren't that fast." I rolled my eyes. "Easy for you to say, you were in charge of holding the punching bags."
"Some of those kids pack a powerful punch!" Hazel retorted. I smirked. "Unlike yourself!" I yelled back. Hazel pretended to look angry, "All right that's it!" "I'm gonna beat you up 'till your cry all the way to Indago!" I stuck out my tongue, "You wish!" We spared for a little while, Hazel was fast on her feet, while I prefered my bow and arrow. Finally she pinned me down and I muttered, "You win." Hazel smirked. "Say that again?" I frowned, "I said, you win!" Hazel's eyes danced playfully, as did mine. "Alright," she said helping me up. "Good match." I smiled. "You fought just like your f-" I tried to stop myself, but it was too late. Hazel's face became more dark and serious. And I know why. Hazel's father had died just last year, from an attack from Emerald. He was also my mentor, and I knew better than to mention him now, in front of her. Hazel lowered her head. "Yeah, she muttered, "I guess I did." I sighed. "Hazel I didn't mean too..." I started. "I know she replied. "Just leave me with my thoughts. I sighed again, this time angry at myself for getting annoyed. "I must've been just this way when mom died." I thought to myself. "So confused and so full of emotion that even at the slightest mention of her, I broke down." So I couldn't blame her. "She'll come around, it just takes time." Her father was a great man, fierce, but kind. "It just takes time."
