It all started off like any other regular day. Elena had an idea, a terrible idea.
"Elena," Aella sighed heavily. "This is a terrible, horrible, incredibly foolish idea."
Elena winced; if Aella was saying that, it must have been a bad idea, "So, you're saying no."
Aella smirked as she swung her car keys ring around her finger, "I'm saying... Let's do it and see what happens."
Elena had thanked whatever deity was listening for Aella as they left the house until they stepped into Stefan's home, and they bumped into a very undressed Rose, and her best friend wolf-whistled quite garish at the vampire and said, "Who rocked your world last night, Rosie?"
The vampire awkwardly looked at Elena, and it didn't take the teen girls much time to realize who said rocker was. Aella smirked, holding back a laugh at the sheepish look upon Rose's face and the ire on Elena's as Rose stuttered, "T-there's no one else here."
Elena smiled tightly at the vampire, "Actually, we came to talk to you."
Rose's eyes shot to Aella in confusion. The witch only smiled a little too brightly before she looked back at Elena, "Then I should probably get dressed."
When the vampire left, there was an awkward silence in the large foyer; Aella's body was practically vibrating as Elena silently glared at the spot Rose had just vacated. "Shut up."
The laugh Aella had been so desperately holding back broke out sharply, "Ha! Is someone feeling a little green, Elena?"
"You're not funny," Elena shot back, lips pursed tightly. "The only green you see is me feeling sick at how she can walk around the house like that. She knows other people live here... like your boyfriend."
Aella laughed at her lame excuse and gestured to her own body proudly, "Why would he want some twig-like that when he's got all this?!"
Elena's face threatened to break at Aella's confidence, enough for the witch to point at her friend, "You can't fool me, Elena. That's jealousy, and people only get jealous when they care."
Elena rolled her eyes, "I care that he's obviously using her because of Katherine. He searches for over a hundred years to free her, and suddenly he's over her." Elena scoffed at the idea, "He's using Rose to ignore his obvious issues with Katherine."
Aella nodded; Elena was saying what they all knew. However, the scowl that appeared on her face when she said Rose and Katherine's names was evident of what she was not saying. Aella just ignored it; if Elena wanted to lie to herself, she was free to do that. When she noticed Rose walking back down to them, Aella quickly whispered to her best friend, "Or they banged because Rose has just finished running for an x number of years, and they're both hot. End of." She was dashing off to meet Rose at the bottom of the stairs before Elena could say anything.
When Elena explained the plan to Rose, the vampire agreed with Aella, "It's a bad idea."
Elena shook her head defiantly, "No, it's not. From what we've been told, your friend Slater obviously has more information about Klaus. You just gave up before you got it."
"Because somebody blew up a coffee shop with us in it," Rose retorted incredulously. Then, she pointed at Aella, "And your friend was there too, although she was not so conspicuous as she repeated, quite annoyingly, 'He's alive,' the entire way home."
"Hey!" Aella frowned at the vampire. "Homeboy came back from the dead; if that's not the most epic time to say one of the most iconic lines in cinematic history, when can you?"
Rose looked at the witch in disbelief, "When I'm not running for my life? Not all of us have fancy rings like your boyfriend."
Elena's eyes lit up at Rose's words; she leaned forward eagerly, "What if we can help with that?"
The two other occupants looked at Elena with wide eyes, one full of excitement/hesitation, the other looked with disbelief.
"Really?"
"Doppelganger say what?!"
Elena ignored Aella and concentrated on Rose, "You help me, we help you."
"We!?" Aella exclaimed with a squeak. She gestured to Elena, "You! Not me."
Elena ignored Aella again, "There's more to learn. We just have to find a way to learn it. If we can do that, Aella will make you a ring."
Rose's head whirled towards Aella, "You can make daylight rings?"
Aella groaned loudly; Elena had done the one thing Damon had told Aella not to do, something Aella agreed with. If it was common knowledge that Aella could make daylight rings, she'd become more of a commodity than she already was. But, unfortunately, it seemed Elena hadn't got that memo.
Rose looked at Elena suspiciously, "Why are you coming to me with this?"
"Because you owe me," Elena simply shrugged. "One word from me, and you could have been killed for kidnapping me."
Aella's brow furrowed; Elena was twisting the truth a little there. It seemed Rose thought so too as she smirked at the doppelganger, "Or maybe it's because you know you shouldn't do this and went to the one person-" she gestured to Aella "-who doesn't mind going on foolish endeavors.
Aella wanted to be annoyed at Rose's suggestion, but the vampire was right; Aella was probably the only one that Elena could convince to go along with her ideas. What was life without a bit of uncertainty?
Rose looked at Elena with sympathy, "You know they're just trying to protect you. That's a blessing many of my kind have not been so fortunate to have."
Aella pouted at the sadness in Rose's tone, while Elena wasn't so moved, "And you've proven that you couldn't care less whether I'm protected or not. So, we're back to you taking me to Slater."
Her harsh words affected Rose, and she narrowed her eyes at Elena, "As soon as I have a ring, you'll have my full attention."
Elena looked to Aella; the witch wanted to argue and throw down an epic tantrum that she wasn't just a commodity for Elena to use whenever she was trying to convince someone to do something. But she enjoyed making the rings; it was a quirky spell that felt like a tickle when she created the magical bond. Groaning at the monumental scolding she was sure she'd receive from Stefan and Damon, she curled into her chair. She looked to Rose, "I need a piece of jewelry that you're willing to wear for the indefinite future." She pointed at the vampire, "Nothing tacky...."
Rose frowned, "Does the spell not work on tacky?"
Aella simply shook her head, "No, it's just annoying to put my magic in something ugly and tacky."
As Rose went off to look for something worthy, Elena rolled her eyes as she looked to Aella, "And you wonder how you and Caroline are such good friends."
Once the spell was complete, Aella and Elena leaned against Aella's car as Rose hesitated from her spot in the doorway of the Salvatore Boarding House. Elena shifted at the wait, and Aella nudged her, "Let her do this on her own time." She looked at Rose and smiled encouragingly, "It's okay, Rose. You take your time."
Elena grumbled and walked to the other side of the car, slamming the door as she got in the passenger side. Aella rolled her eyes and moved closer to Rose, "Ignore, Miss Moody. She can get a little intense when she's on a mission."
Rose didn't say anything; her eyes just focused on her feet, still in the doorway and out of the sun. Aella just let her do her thing; eventually, Rose spoke, "Is it silly that I'm scared?"
Aella only raised a brow, "Silly, you're worried if I messed up or lied and as soon as you step into the sun, you'll burn and die?" Aella shook her head, "I think it'd be silly if you were anything else."
Rose finally looked up with a curious gaze, "Could you have potentially made a mistake?"
Aella laughed lightly, appreciating that Rose ignored the 'lied' part of her ramble, "I may act a little crazy sometimes-" she pretended not to hear Rose snort at her wording choice "-but my magic...." Aella glanced at her hands, hands that held so much power; looking back at Rose, she admitted, "My magic is one thing that will never let me down." Her mind seemed to jolt back to that moment with Elijah and her magic going haywire because of her anxiety, "It can test me... but it'll never let me down."
Rose took a deep, shuddering breath, "I've been a slave to shadows for 500 years."
"Well then," Aella smiled brightly at the vampire. "I think this is the most fortuitous time to quote one of the most badass characters of all time... Don't worry, be happy."
"Isn't that a lyric from Bob Marley's song?" Rose innocently, yet confused, asked.
Aella gasped in horror, "Lyric? That's a direct quote from Michelle Tanner." When Rose continued to look confused, Aella held her chest as if she was holding her broken heart, "Full House? Uncle Jesse? You got it, dude? Holla Tannerinos?" Rose just shook her head, and Aella nodded confidently, "Right. So we now know what we will be bingeing this weekend." She waved for Rose to move into the sun, "Now move your butt into the sun so you can see how badass my magic can be."
Rose took a deep breath before taking her first step into the sun in 500 years. When she felt no pain, she took another step, then another, until she finally stood in the driveway, allowing the sun to settle on her face and felt the rays warming her skin. Her eyes remained closed, just absorbing, basking. Now she felt free. When her eyes opened, they locked on Aella's bright green ones, the witch watching her proudly. "Thank you."
Aella only shrugged; she allowed the vampire to enjoy her first time in the sun until a loud horn made the vampire and witch jump. Elena pulled herself out of her window to look over the car at them, "C'mon, people. We've got a vampire to find to lead us to the undying vampire that wants to sacrifice me!"
Rose raised a weary brow at Aella, "Is this a normal Sunday for you?"
Aella shrugged and opened the rear door, "No. The assassins usually try to kill me on Saturday."
Rose paused, getting into the back seat, "Sarcasm." She was honestly never sure with Aella.
"Yes!" Elena exclaimed from the front. "Now get in the car before anyone can stop us."
Rose rolled her eyes and got into the car; as Aella shut the door and moved to her own, Rose asked the doppelganger softly, "What exactly do you hope to achieve by this?"
Elena's stare remained firmly forward, "Because I need to save me, it should be no one else's job."
Rose was cut off from asking anything further as Aella got in and proudly said, "I love a good road trip!"
Considering this was the second road trip with Aella, and the first had resulted in nearly dying, she wasn't too sure how her second would go. Clipping her seat belt into place, Rose looked down at her new ring; as she rubbed it, she hoped she would survive this journey too.
MYSTIC FALLS HIGH SCHOOL
"...it just sucks. It's like these teachers go one about wanting us to succeed, yet are happy to load us with so much work our brains turn to mush."
Anna watched Bonnie laugh with the new guy. Her eyes narrowed; they seemed pretty chummy for two people who had only met days ago.
"...agree, Anna? Anna?"
Anna turned with surprise when she felt a nudge and saw Jeremy looking at her with an amused brow. Realizing that she'd missed everything he'd been saying, she smiled politely as her mother had once taught her and nodded in agreement. Why? Because the opposite gender always appreciated being agreed with. However, that was the 19th century, and she was dating a boy born in the 20th century.
Jeremy leaned on his locker, "So you agree with Mr. Talbot that women belong in the kitchen?" Jeremy shook his head, disappointed with her views, but Anna could see the playful glint in his eye, "I've got to say, Anna, I am shocked."
"Okay," Anna smiled apologetically at him. "I'm sorry, I wasn't listening."
Jeremy accepted her apology with a nod while following her gaze to see what had her so distracted, "Bonnie and Luka?"
Anna nodded and saw the couple exiting the building. She began following them, pulling Jeremy's sleeve to join her, "I don't trust him."
Jeremy stumbled a little before regaining his footing. He raised an uncertain brow at Anna's statement, "Luka? You don't trust Luka?"
Anna nodded tersely, "I don't trust Luka."
"Any reason why?"
The couple exited the building, and Anna saw Bonnie and Luka pause. She turned to Jeremy and answered, "A feeling."
"A feeling?" Jeremy repeated slowly in confusion. He leaned a little closer and whispered, "A supernatural feeling?"
"No," Anna scowled, looking at the pair. "Just a feeling."
Jeremy rolled his eyes, "You've been spending too much time with Aella. Her people skills are rubbing off on you."
Anna rolled her eyes this time, "Did you forget how we met?! He's basically replicating everything I did."
Jeremy paused, unsure how to respond to her; he didn't want to belittle her feelings. Still, he couldn't help but believe she was jumping to conclusions about Luka. The guy seemed cool. He opened his mouth to respond to her when the wind started to blow around them, much heavier than it was only moments before. Suddenly, leaves were hitting students and papers flying from firmly clasped hands, and Bonnie and Luka were in the middle of it all. Luka had his eyes closed, and Bonnie looked at him with fascination.
Suddenly the wind disappeared, and while students paused for a moment, shocked at the sudden change in the weather, they soon resumed what they were doing before the wind grew. However, Bonnie and Luka remained there, smiling at each other. When Jeremy looked back down at Anna, his girlfriend was smiling smugly. Before he could say anything, Anna was striding toward the two. With a tired sigh, Jeremy followed after her and came to the realization that he was right; Anna was spending too much time with Aella.
The couple reached Luka, and Bonnie and Anna laughed fallaciously, "What's with that weather, huh?"
The two spun towards the couple. While Bonnie avoided Anna's steely gaze, Luka laughed lightly, "Global warming, right? I don't know. I got to go. See you later, Bonnie."
Bonnie nodded hastily with a short smile, "Bye, Luka."
Luka picked his backpack off the ground and walked off, Bonnie watching him leave while Anna continued to stare at her. She hesitated on turning; Anna's tone was not hard to miss. Bonnie took a deep breath and turned to face them when her phone rang. Even though Stefan was calling, she smiled at the interruption and answered as she turned back to the couple.
"Stefan, hi!"
Anna and Jeremy shared a suspicious look at Bonnie's excited tone; they knew as well as everyone that Bonnie still wasn't the biggest Stefan fan.
"You need my help?" Bonnie repeated in confusion. However, to avoid the stare Anna was giving her, she told Stefan, yes.
After Stefan had hung up, Bonnie smiled politely at the two, "That was Stefan, he needs my help, and it seems pretty urgent." She pointed in the direction of her car, "I better g-"
"-We'll come with you," Anna smiled a little too brightly. She hooked her arm through Bonnie's and began leading her to the car park. "That way, you can update us on your blossoming relationship with Luka. You two sure looked close then."
Bonnie desperately looked back at Jeremy as if he could help her. However, Jeremy just shrugged; he wasn't going against his girlfriend. Was she nuts!?
A/N: sooooo? What do we think? This chapter is pretty AU, I mixed some scenes together to create not only the Rose/Aella/Elena scene but also the Anna/Jeremy one too.
I love Rose and Aella's blossoming relationship as well as growing Anna's character. I love how Anna is becoming a mix of Aella and Caroline.
Thank you again to the 1000 people who subscribed to my profile, love ya! Xoxo
P.s, do we like the GIF I created below? While I swear I'm not flipping anyone off, I knew that it was the perfect gif for Aella!
