Chapter 33 - Ding dong, the vampire is not dead!

MYSTIC GRILL

Bonnie nervously checked her watch; this food for Grams was taking too long. Ever since her skin had touched Dr. Martin's skin, she wanted to get out of there. But, of course, Sheila Bennett would most definitely not accept, 'his touch gave me the heebie-jeebies so I didn't get the food you asked for.'

She felt a presence nearby and shifted nervously when Luka appeared with a soft smile that did nothing for her nerves, "Hey, Bonnie." She gave him a short smile, and he continued, "I'm sorry about earlier. My dad is not very subtle with the whole Bennett/Salem question. He picked up on you; he was just fishing around. He didn't mean any harm."

Bonnie swallowed heavily, "I felt something too."

Luka nodded knowingly, "I know. That's why we're having this conversation right now." He looked around to ensure no one was near, "He uh... doesn't like for anyone to know." He unscrewed the lid on the salt shaker and poured some salt on the table. "But we were both worried that you would bail on us." He put his hand above the salt, and it floated up for a few seconds, his eyes meeting Bonnie's for a moment before he allowed the salt to return to the counter. "He just wants us to fit in here for once. It's tough, Bonnie, being different."

Bonnie had to stop herself from rolling her eyes as she whispered to him, "You're a witch?"

Of course, she'd felt something different but familiar. It was the same sensation she felt when she recognized her magic, and she'd been near Aella.

"Well," Luka smirked. "We prefer the term warlock."

RICHMOND, VA

"Here's what I don't get...." Damon pointed to Slater; four more coffee's sat upon their table. "Elijah moved around during the day, which means the originals knew the secret of the day ring. So now, why would Klaus want to lift the curse of the sun and the moon?"

Slater rolled his eyes as if the answer was obvious, "To keep the werewolves from lifting it. If a vampire breaks the sun curse, then the werewolves are stuck with the curse of the moon forever and vice versa."

Aella looked to Damon and murmured, "Like the story."

Slater's eyes narrowed on Aella, "Story?"

"Not relevant," Damon waved him off, eyes darting to Aella in a warning for a second. "Werewolves."

Rose smiled, disbelieving at Damon, "Werewolves are extinct."

Aella's mouth opened to counteract her when Damon nudged her leg to shut up. It was a move he'd done quite a few times since they'd sat down, and Aella was sure she had a bruise by now.

Leaning down with a pout, she began to rub her leg as Slater agreed with Rose, "True. I've never seen one, but rumor has it...."

"Not such a rumor," Damon smiled tightly.

Slater shook his head with incredulity, "Mystic Falls? God, I've got to visit this place. It sounds awesome...."

Aella shook her head, "Please don't. My boyfriend would freak if I brought another supernatural creature home."

"Another?" Slator asked wearily.

Damon swirled the coffee in his cup as his thumb pointed to Aella, "Her ex-babysitter was the werewolf."

Slator looked to Rose excitedly, "Like I said, awesome."

All of a sudden, Aella felt a chill down her spine.

"Awesome doesn't even begin to describe it," Damon sarcastically went on, unaware of Aella's stillness. "Can we stop the curse from being broken at all?"

All three voices seemed to muffle as Aella's eyes glanced around the cafe, watching vampires socialize. She wondered if her senses were going mad at the amount of undead around her, but surely that would have happened when they had arrived.

"-You think I'm gonna help you figure out how to do something that will piss off an original?" Slater ranted at Damon. He opened his mouth to continue when Aella slowly rose from her seat.

Damon's annoyed gaze on Slator turned to a concerned one as he focused on Aella's fixed-off stare, "Pixie?"

However, she didn't seem to hear him as her head slowly turned to look out the window. Damon's eyes began to follow her gaze when he saw coins coming at an almighty speed towards the window they sat in front of. Knowing Aella would be fine, Damon pushed Rose to the ground as the window shattered.

Slater and the other vampires screamed and ran as their skin began burning in the sunlight. Pushing Rose to where they had parked, Damon turned to where Aella still stood. The glass of the shattered window surrounded her, yet she didn't have a scratch on her. Her eyes were wide as she stared across the street where onlookers looked at the cafe. Finally, Damon got to her side, and it seemed to knock her out of her daze. Turning to him in horror, she cried out, "He's alive, Damon. He's aliiiiive!"

Picking her up, throwing her over his shoulder, he rolled his eyes, "Alright, Dr. Frakenstein." He rushed them to where Rose hid in the car and dumped Aella into the front seat. He got in the back with Rose, "You okay?"

Rose nodded; her eyes glanced to Aella, muttering to herself, "Is she okay?"

"She's Aella," Damon answered her before asking his own question, "Who's behind that?"

Before she could answer, Aella let out a hysterical laugh and turned to them, her eyes manic, "I told you, he's alive."

Damon paused; he could see and hear the fear in Aella as he asked, "Who's alive?"

All emotion fell from Aella's face as she answered simply, "Elijah."

"No," Rose exclaimed in horror. "No!"

Damon leaned close to Aella, "Are you sure?"

Aella's solemn nod sent Rose into a panic, and she grabbed Damon, "I told you they're unbeatable, and he's not Klaus! Don't you understand? You don't know this man, we're dead, we're all dead!"

As Rose cried into Damon's chest, Aella leaned over and patted the vampire's arm for some comfort as she pitifully whispered, "There, there...." Rose's reaction was to cry harder and for Damon to glare at the witch as she smiled awkwardly at him.

GILBERT HOUSEHOLD

Elena and Stefan sat on the porch in silence. After he had dragged her out of the cave with Katherine, they had argued all the way home, and now they just sat, silent tears falling down Elena's face.

Elena jumped when Stefan began talking to her, "I know not having answers is hard, but Katherine is not the way to find them."

"I know," she nodded at him, even though his gaze was not on her. "I'm just so sick of us being behind everything. We're all in danger, and she knows something. But, God! She is such a bitch! How could Damon have loved her?."

Stefan laughed, "I think he fell in love with the idea of her." He smiled sadly as he remembered his brother before the war, "In those times, it was instilled in our upbringing for us to marry well and carry on the Salvatore name. Unfortunately, Katherine played that part all too properly." He finally looked at her, for some reason needing her to see his honesty as he spoke, "Damon fell in love with Katherine Pierce, a character. Nothing like her true self, Katerina Petrova."

A familiar car pulled into the driveway. Aella jumped out, slamming the door before it reversed off the driveway and sped off into the night. Stefan watched his girlfriend stomp towards them, only to pause when she saw them waiting there and Elena's dried tears.

"Who's dead now?" She dramatically cried. "Because the word dead may just have a new meaning."

Stefan's brow furrowed at her words while Elena started crying again. Finally, she sobbed out, "I visited Katherine in the tomb."

In total shock, Aella forgot her news and pushed Stefan aside to sit next to her best friend, pulling her into a hug, "Why would you do that, ya nutter? That bitch is a Gone Girl kinda crazy!"

Elena just cried, and when Aella looked at Stefan, he did not help the situation when he added, "She used Caroline to distract me while she did it."

His girlfriend winced; she leaned down and whispered to Elena, "Now I get the tears; that's his, 'I'm disappointed,' tone." Elena nodded into her arms; no one liked Stefan's, 'I'm disappointed,' tone. It was like disappointing Mr. Feeny, a no-go. Looking at Stefan, she asked about her best friend, "And Caroline?"

Stefan nodded his head at the house, a glimmer of mirth in his eyes, "She's currently crying to Jenna at what a bad person she is."

Shaking her head in awe, Aella smirked, "Oh, you are good."

Stefan only winked.

Aella let Stefan have his moment for a few seconds before she nudged Elena up. When the brunette sat up, Aella looked between the two before she blurted out, "Elijah's alive."

The doppelganger and vampire stared at her in absolute shock while Aella sang awkwardly, "Ding dong, the vampire is not dead!"
