Chapter 22 - Our witch is better than yours
Tyler ran into his dad's office, breathing heavily. He couldn't believe what had just happened. Katherine had just snapped Aimee's spine and then pushed her into his arms; he had to stand there holding Aimee's dead body and pretend nothing was wrong. The jacket that his mother had admired hours ago was torn off. He wanted nothing that had held Aimee's dead body on his body.
"She just killed her," He panted, ignoring the tears as they began to gather.
When he saw his father's alcohol stash, he ignored all the warnings in his head of the consequences of getting completely wasted. Still, then the image of Aimee's terrified face and the feel of her dead body in his arms had him reaching and gulping the potent drink down.

Katherine happily pulled Caroline upstairs with her, feeding on the fear that the blonde released.
"Why do you keep dragging me into this?" Caroline sobbed. "I don't want any part of it."
Katherine pulled on her blonde hair, "Shut up!" They came to several doors, "Which room is it?"
Caroline shuddered but said nothing. However, when Katherine pulled on her hair with more force, she pointed to the glass doors, "It's that one."
It was pure luck that as Katherine sauntered into the room, she let Caroline go before she too crossed the barrier. She didn't know if it was because of that luck or the fact her acting (which had always been slated) had been fooled; Caroline began to giggle. It was a sound that had Katherine's back straightening as she turned to the giggling blonde.
"I did it!" Caroline wiped the fake tears. "I really didn't think that I'd be able to fool you. Mrs. Hassle said my acting was so boring that I couldn't even entertain a doubt, but I fooled you. I did it!"
Katherine had enough and ran towards Caroline but bounced off the invisible barrier, "What the...?" Suddenly she sensed another presence in the room. "Stefan."
Stefan stepped into her vision, smiling broadly as he twirled the stake in his hand, "Hello Katherine."
Caroline giggled as she waved her fingers, "Goodbye, Katherine."
Katherine ignored her fury at the blonde's gall and stepped towards Stefan, "You don't really think that you can kill me with that now, do you?"
"No," Stefan smirked as Damon silently opened the door behind her, holding the compressed air weapon. Damon lined up his shot as Stefan finished, "But he can."
Damon shot.
GILBERT HOUSEHOLD
"Aghhhhhhhhh!"
Jenna and Ric jumped as Elena's scream echoed the room they were sitting in. Ric jumped up as Elena shot up and began falling to the ground in agony; his eyes widened when the purple shirt she wore became saturated in blood. He whirled his head to Jenna as she watched in fear and confusion, "Call, Aella!"
LOCKWOOD MANSION
Caroline ran towards Aella, giggling, "I did it! She pulled Aella into a hug, "I fooled Katherine."
"And you're not dead," Aella smiled into her best friend's shoulder. Yet when her phone began ringing, she felt an uneasiness overcome her. She had just answered the call, and before she could answer, Ric was screaming down the phone, "Katherine and Elena are connected!" They heard Elena's screams over the phone, "Elena's feeling everything Katherine is."
"I knew it," Aella snarled. She snapped her phone shut and looked at Caroline. "Stop them now." She began running off.
"And where are you going?!" Caroline exclaimed in a panic.
"To kill a witch!" Aella growled before she left Caroline's sight, and Caroline sped up to the room, shouting at the brothers to stop hurting Katherine, hating the grin that suddenly appeared on Katherine's face.
Katherine merely sat up, grinning cunningly, "You think you two are the only ones with a witch on your side?" She wiped her bloodied lip, "Aella may be strong, but something tells me that my witch is better than your witch."
Stefan was rattled; they hadn't expected this. He looked at Caroline, "Aella?"
Katherine laughed, "Precious Aella," She snatched the stake from a baffled Damon before cutting her hand deeply with the piece of wood, "What about poor Elena?"
Caroline held up the phone in her hands as Elena's screams echoed through the small device. Damon spun and hit the stake from Katherine's hands, throwing it to the floor. It was an action that had Katherine laughing before falling onto the couch, picking up a lone stake that lay there. She rested above her stomach before glancing at the three vampires, "Okay. So, how about that moonstone?"

Lucy could feel a storm brewing as she entered a room that held drinks but was empty of guests; she moved to exit when the doors slammed in front. Her lips twitched as she felt a familiar presence behind her, "You looking for me?"
She turned, she wasn't sure what she was expecting, but when she was faced with the glowing green eyes of the furious Aella, a fear began to grow in her heart. Her eyes grew wide at the power she could feel pulsing from the young witch, "A Bennett..." She gulped, her powers coming alive at the magic vibrating around the room. "But there's more. You're powerful."
"Yeah," Aella scowled at the witch. "And you just pissed me off. Remove the spell from Elena."
Lucy began to step backward. "Look..." She gasped as Aella's fist tightened, and she was held in place. For the first time, she pushed at her magic, and to her utter shock, she couldn't push through it. "That's impossible."
Aella fiercely stepped towards her, "Remove the spell from Elena."
Lucy shook her head, "Give Katherine the moonstone, and I will."
Aella's head tilted at her answer, "Wrong answer." Aella twisted her hand, and Lucy's body began moving without her consent; soon, she started screaming out in pain.

Tyler gulped back the whiskey, relishing as the golden liquid began to make his head and heart lighter. As he pulled back, gasping for breath, he shoved the half-emptied decanter back down and picked up the vodka hidden in the back. He'd just begun to devour the Russian drink when a voice spoke to him,
"Hey, I want a shot!"
The bottle fell from his lips as Sarah Miller stood at the door, her lips pouting as she took in the scene. She slowly shut the door of his dad's office behind her and glided towards him; as she reached him, she plucked the bottle from his hands and took a long pull of the drink. Already half-drunk, Tyler could only watch on. When Sarah swallowed the clear liquid with a wince, she looked at him, "Now that's what I call a real party."
She passed the bottle back to him, and he immediately began drinking the alcohol, missing the gleam in Sarah's eyes.

"Stop!" Lucy screamed, wondering how the hell no one was hearing her screams, but Aella had placed a silencing spell on the room before entering it. "Stop! We're blood!"
Aella's hand fell, though her scowl didn't. Lucy's pain stopped, and she gasped in agony, sweat building at her forehead from the torture. When the teen approached her, Lucy swallowed heavily. "Family?" Aella spat. "Family doesn't work with the enemy."
"I owe her," Lucy gasped out. "I don't have a choice. The bitch saved my life, and now I owe her. I have to pay up."
Aella paused; Lucy spoke only the truth. She let the witch go and watched as she fell to the ground breathing heavily. Then, walking towards her, she knelt down to be eye level with her, "Well, I want the bitch dead, and you can't owe anything to the dead."
Aella held out her hand and watched as Lucy hesitated before a shaky hand reached out to take hers. Lucy's head fell back as Aella's power hit her; this was no ordinary witch. Among the surplus of magic, her mind caught the moonstone Katherine had been speaking of, "You have the moonstone."
Aella grinned as she felt Lucy's allegiance change, "I do."
Lucy laughed shakily, "Give it to me; I know what to do."

Sarah giggled as Tyler stumbled around the office; the vodka bottle which had been full when they began drinking was now three-quarters empty. As the teen stumbled into her dad's leather chair and dropped the bottle, she knew it was time. Picking up the letter opener, Sarah turned to Tyler, "Once you're drunk, I won't fail."
Tyler turned at her voice, drunk eyes slowly widening as she rushed towards him, the silver knife gripped fiercely in her hand. However, as drunk as Tyler was when something deadly was aimed at him, his flight or fight response roared his head, and with all his strength, he pushed the small girl backward. It was only as her head hit his father's desk with a loud crack that she fell onto the floor in a heap his worst nightmare had come true.
"No, no, no!" He screamed as he fell to his knees next to the girl and began shaking her, ignoring the blood spilling from her head wound. "Come on, wake up! Sarah, open your eyes, wake up! This can't happen, oh no, this can't happen. This can't be happening! Sarah!"
The door opened, and Tyler had never felt such relief when he saw Caroline, her eyes large as they focused on the pool of blood growing on the floor. "Help her, Caroline!" Tyler screamed before looking back to Sarah and shaking her again, "Sarah, get up! Sarah! Open your eyes!" Caroline fell to her knees next to him, and he turned to her, tears flowing furiously down his cheeks, "This can't be happening! Not like this!"
"What happened?" Caroline demanded as her fingers shakily checked Sarah's neck. Tyler began to scream before she could feel a response, holding his head as he fell to the floor in agony. "Tyler? Tyler?! Tyler, what's happening?"
Caroline quickly moved over to assist him, but he pushed her back as he screamed, "Get away!"
Caroline's hands shook as she froze midway from consoling him as he continued screaming, her thoughts running a mile a second at what the hell was happening. Only when Tyler looked to her that next second, his eyes glowing amber, Caroline knew what had happened. Tyler had triggered the Lockwood curse. Tyler was now a werewolf.

Damon shook with fury as he watched Katherine harm herself; Elena's screams echoed through the phone Caroline had dropped before she had run away. "The second the spell is lifted, I'm gonna drive a stake right through your heart."
Katherine smiled mischievously up at him, licking her lips at his anger, "God, you're hot. When did you get so hot?"
The doors flew open, and Lucy stormed in; it had Katherine smiling victoriously as she stood. Damon and Stefan glared at the newcomer, both noticing the moonstone in her hand. Stefan raised a brow at Damon; the moonstone had been hidden in Aella's bag. How the hell did this woman have it?
"Katherine," Lucy smiled tightly at the vampire. "The spell on this room has been broken; you're free to leave." She narrowed her eyes as the two other vampires stepped towards her.
"Thank God!" Katherine exclaimed, watching her wounds as they healed themselves; she was getting crazily bored of the room. Whoever had decorated it seriously needed to be gutted. She held her hand out for the moonstone.
Lucy hesitated, "When I hand this over, my debt to you is over."
Katherine flashed a dazzling smile at the witch, "Done."
However, Lucy wasn't finished, "I owe you nothing."
"I said done," Katherine snapped, becoming annoyed with the witch's hesitation. She irritatedly waved her fingers, "Give it."
Damon had enough of the show; this witch must have done to Aella if she had the moonstone. If Katherine could find a witch more powerful than Aella and have her under some kind-of control, they needed to stop it. "I wouldn't do that."
Lucy ignored him as she handed Katherine the moonstone; Damon moved to try and incapacitate Katherine when she suddenly gasped, as though she couldn't breathe. His eyes glanced at Lucy, who remained calm as she leaned towards Katherine, "You should have told me another witch was involved." As Katherine fell to the ground, Aella glided into the room, eyes gleaming as she watched Katherine become weaker and weaker.
Damon raised a brow at Aella's appearance, "Elena?"
Aella nodded at him, "She's fine. Lucy released the spell. Ric's bringing her so Lucy and I can heal her."
Lucy ignored the talking, eyes focused on Katherine, "She's a Bennett witch, Katherine, but I'm sure you knew that."
Stefan moved to pull Aella into his arms as Damon smirked down at Katherine. He bent down towards her, and with a gratifying smile, he sang, "Our witch is better than yours."
Katherine's glare as she went unconscious was one Damon would cherish for a long time.
