SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE

Matt walked with only his mouth agape as he and the others walked through Stefan's house, while the girls had, of course, been here many times since Stefan returned, it was Matt's first time. Aella just loved the look of boyhood wonder as he gazed around.

Caroline, ignoring her boyfriend, pulled him to the sitting room, "This is much better than watching Damon visit cougar town." She winced when she heard her words out loud and looked to Matt, "No offense."

Matt was too enamored to really notice, "Don't remind me." He looked to Stefan, "Man, I've always wanted to see what it looks like in this place. When Aella got the photo project here, Freshman year, I was so jealous."

Stefan never liked showing off his wealth, ordinary teens didn't have that, "Yeah, I guess it's a bit much."

"Hey!" Aella frowned, "It's not your fault. This is a family home, you can't exactly tear it down and build something smaller." She squeezed Stefan's hand that held hers, "Love it, like I do, for the history, and memories; old and new."

Stefan expressed his love for and gratefulness with a smile and squeeze back to her hand.

Matt then looked at him and Aella and joked, "No, it really is too much." Caroline hit him at that, but Matt just laughed it off, "My entire house could fit in here. like twice."

Caroline turned to the group, "So? Movie?"

Matt then let go of Caroline's hand and moved towards Stefan's precious miniature car collection, "Whoa; these are great!"

Caroline whirled on Aella and gave her a disapproving stare causing the brunette to throw her hands up, "What?! It's not like I knew we were coming here, and I had to hide them. Don't blame me."

Aella rolled her eyes and looked to an equally annoyed Caroline,

Stefan had already moved forward and admitted the nerdy hobby that usually had Aella squealing at him for being passionate about. She knew Caroline would not feel the same, and knowing everyone needed the night to go normal, she rushed to the two boys, "How about we watch Fast and Furious? Cars. Fast. Vehicles I don't care about, but it will get us away from here!"

Matt, like other residents of Mystic Falls, ignored Aella's ramblings and turned to Stefan, "I did the entire Mustang series when I was nine."

Stefan's eyes lit up, "You like cars?"

"Aella!" Caroline whined, not knowing where this was going except it was not watching a movie.

Matt smiled at the vampire, "It's an understatement."

Stefan could only smirk, "Come with me."

The two boys turned to leave when Aella stood in front of them, fiercely frowning with her arms crossed, "No! We will be normal and watch a movie Caroline and I will hate. Still, we will love that fact our boyfriends are spending quality time with us..." Aella then let go of her arms and turned to Caroline pleading, "I can't do the normal girlfriend angry act at her boyfriend for not wanting to watch a movie with me. He loves his cars, Matt loves cars, let them bond."

Caroline could only glare, and Aella sank under that glare as Stefan and Matt walked past the tiny witch, Stefan kissing her lips as he passed in thanks.

Caroline pointed her manicured finger at Aella, "You. Owe. Me."

"Yes, Ma'am," Aella whimpered and then ran after the boys before Caroline murdered her.

GILBERT HOUSEHOLD

"We're here, Jenna!"

Jenna was started awake by a man's voice, and it took awhile for her to realize, A) she was in a taxi and B) she was outside her house.

Rifling through her purse, she pulled out $20 and somehow placed it in Andy's hand, although she got annoyed by the way he was spinning it. "Thank, Andy." She opened the door and stepped out when she realized something and stuck her head back into the car, "Let me tell you something, Andy, because I appreciate you and your name. Don't ever change your name to Dan, Dan rhymes with man, and men jerk off! You get me, Andy?"

Andy loved driving Jenna home and laughed with a sharp nod, "I got it, Jenna."

Jenna nodded proudly, shutting the door and stumbling to her house, mutterings about a man named Dan. Even if she hadn't ever had an issue with a man named Dan. Or met a Dan... Ever.

SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE

The group followed Stefan to garages, and Stefan clicked the door open, as it was opening, he looked to Matt eagerly, "Prepare yourself, my friend."

He removed the tarp from the car, and Matt could only look on with his jaw to the floor, "Wait, how do you have this?"

Aella leaned against the sidewall, and Caroline leaned on her, planting her chin on her best friend's shoulder, the two rolling their eyes at their giddiness. This was Stefan's pride and joy, and Aella had heard way too much about it to even care. Anything that made her boyfriend this happy was okay with her.

Stefan opened the car door to unlatch the back bonnet where the engine lay,

"It got passed down through the family."

Lie, but only Matt was unaware of this, and his shock about the car continued as he admired, "Why don't you... I mean... Why don't you drive it?"

"Because I hate it," Aella smirked, which grew when Matt glared at her, and Stefan rolled his eyes.

"How can you hate this beauty?" Matt almost squealed with how high his voice echoed in disbelief.

"Easily," Aella shrugged the shoulder Caroline wasn't leaning against, "This is a misogynistic car, like your truck."

Matt's expression changed to incredulity at her words, "What?"

Caroline stood up and rolled her eyes alongside Stefan, they'd known her well enough about her opinions on these cars, "Please don't get her start-"

"It's anti-woman," Aella began, and Caroline let out a sigh of exasperation when Aella started listing off reasons. "Your truck is size-ist and gender-selective, it's-" She started mimicking a man's voice, "'Oh, let's drink beer, watch a game and hike our shorts up.'" She then returned to her own voice and pointed at the cherry red car, "And that is just as bad! It is also size-ist this time to tall people, it looks like a squashed Beetle, and we all know what's really under the hood," Aella smirked, waving her little finger at the males.

Matt spluttered, and before he could argue with her about any of it. Caroline snorted, "What she means in Aella language is that she's jealous of Stefan's car and wants it for herself."

"Yes I do," Aella nodded proudly. "Who gives a crap what the other peasants think? I'm driving a Porsche!"

Stefan chuckled, "No, you're not," He turned to Matt, "It doesn't run. I mean, it's nothing that I could figure out." He glanced over his shoulder as Matt looked at the engine and muttered, "And she'd be the last to drive this, have you been in a car with her driving?"

"I heard that darling," Aella sang.

Caroline frowned at Stefan's previous sentence, "Why would you keep a car that doesn't run?"

Matt had gotten over the shock at Aella's fake outburst and laughed at his girlfriend, someone he could always rely on to tell him what she thought, "Be more of a girl right now?"

Caroline laughed sarcastically at him, before turning to Aella, "I'm going to get the popcorn ready for the movie. I'll do enough for all of us, but I think it's just gonna be you and me."

Aella squeezed her best friend's cheeks, "And don't you just love that?!"

The blonde just pushed Aella's hands off her face and made her way back to the house. Aella skipped over to the boys as Matt told Stefan about the number of times he'd rebuilt Mr. Gilbert's engine for his Camero. When she reached the boys, she cleared her throat so they'd look at her, "C, is seriously getting pissed off, so we're going to make popcorn, and by the time it's done, playtime is over. It's time to put your boyfriend caps on, got it?"

The boys just nodded, "Got it."

Aella turned with a proud smile and made her way back to the house. Matt returned to the engine and was about to suggest a way to fix the vintage car when he noticed Stefan still stood up straight. His eyes followed the boy's smiling face and saw it focused on Aella as she skipped back to the house, "She's good with you. You know, I wasn't sure, but she's happy, and I'm glad."

Stefan looked down at Matt and could only shrug, "I love her, thank you for saying that."

Matt nodded before he directed Stefan back down to the engine and away from any more mushy talks, "Alright, let's take a look at this."

.................................................

.................................................

When the last bag of popcorn beeped from the microwave, Aella let Caroline sort it out. She made her way outside and had just opened the door when she heard an engine and couldn't help but smile happily as Stefan and Matt pulled up in the Porsche.

"Piece of cake!" Matt laughed as they both exited the car.

Aella felt Caroline step behind her, and an idea popped into her head, "Why don't you go for a longer spin?"

Matt shook his head, "We can't, it's date night."

Stefan seemed to have the same thought wave as her and smiled between him and Caroline, "It still can be date night, just not double date night." He walked over to Aella and pulled her into his arms, "Why don't you guys go ahead and take it for a spin?"

"Really?"

"Yeah," Stefan nodded at the confused teen. "Anyway, I smell the popcorn, and I do love popcorn."

Aella giggled at his words, and Matt looked to his girlfriend, "Care?"

Caroline ran over to the car giggling, "I thought you'd never accept."

As they drove away, Aella looked up to Stefan perplexed, "You hate eating human food."

"But you love popcorn," Stefan teased. "I'm giving you an excuse to eat twice as much."

Aella laughed as he pulled them into the house, "Oh, I love you."

GILBERT HOUSEHOLD

Jeremy glanced over at the door as Jenna stumbled in and nearly knocked the coat stand over, "You okay, Aunt Jenna."

Jenna waved at him but didn't look in his direction, "Don't ever drink, kid. Ever."

As she walked up the stairs, Anna looked at him, amused, "Is that a normal occurrence here?"

"No," Jeremy shook his head and returned to watching the movie they were watching together. "But she seems to always offer a life lesson whatever the circumstances."

Anna chuckled with him, "I'm glad we decided to try to be friends."

Jeremy smiled at the vampire and could happily agree, "I am too."

SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE

"Oh no," Aella whined, and Stefan looked down to see her pouting.

"What's wrong?"

Aella turned over the popcorn bowl and, like a toddler, simply said, "All gone."

Stefan snorted, "There were four full bowls when we sat here, and I didn't eat any..."

Aella turned to him seriously, "There must be a popcorn eating ghost here-" she shrugged her shoulders "-it's an old house after all."

In amusement, Stefan nodded gravely with her, "I'll accept that, but there is still an hour left of the movie, and you can't sit through a movie without food."

"You're right," Aella nodded solemnly. Her eyes lit up as an idea came to her, "Why don't you go get me some more? Use them vamp skills for some good."

"Okay," Stefan nodded, and Aella wondered if Stefan was just getting used to her being a lazy bitch. He usually would have argued more before he eventually failed. That was her thought process until Stefan used his 'vamp skills for some good' and swept her over his shoulder. "Let's go get more popcorn together."

"Ughhh..." Aella moaned upside, confused and trying not to laugh. "I don't think this was the plan."

"You mean it wasn't your plan," Stefan rebuked her, amused. "I like this plan." He smacked her ass, and Aella couldn't help but giggle as he ran down the stairs.

She heard the door opened and, for once, she hoped it wasn't Caroline... she liked the direction this was going. Stefan jumped them off the stairs, which caused Aella to let out a giggle until she heard Matt's voice echo around the entrance hall, "Mom!?"

Stefan turned in the direction, and Aella was able to see Kelly with Damon against the wall, in a very intimate pose. Aella covered her eyes as she hung upside down, "Oh wow! Oh, ew!"

Stefan seemed to be knocked into reality at her words, and he quickly set Aella down in time for Kelly to look at all four teens in horror as she pulled away from the vampire, "Oh my god, Matt! Oh my god."

The mother made a quick getaway as Aella's eyes widened, and in Aella custom, she sang out low, "Awkward!"

Caroline took control of the situation when she saw her boyfriend stuck and took his hand, "Let's get you out of here." She took Stefan's keys from his hand and threw them over to the vampire.

Matt looked up at Stefan, eyes full of hurt, ignoring his brother behind him, "Thanks, man."

Stefan smiled gently at his friend, "Anytime, Matt. Thanks for fixing her."

The two left, and it was quiet as Damon filled himself up a glass of whiskey until someone started clapping. Before he could take a sip of his drink, his eyes met Aella's who was clapping at him, "Wow, Damon. You just knocked that out of the ballpark."

Stefan pulled Aella away from his brother, Damon wasn't in a stable mind at the moment. Still, Aella pulled away from him and glared at his brother, "How about instead of acting like a manwhore, you act more like a man and less of a whore. Then you just might be able to not ruin everyone's relationships in this town."

When Damon said nothing, Aella scoffed and ran outside, hoping to catch Matt and Caroline to apologize before they left.

Luckily they were still in the driveway, arguing whether Matt should drive or not, "Matt, Caroline."

The duo turned to look at the small brunette who could only shrug sadly at her friends, "I'm so sorry that happened."

Matt could only shrug, too, "It's not your fault, A. Thanks for letting me and Care get some time together." He pulled the blonde close, taking in her perfume and letting it calm him down.

Aella was about to ask what he was going to do with his mom when she got the unusual feeling of something wrong, "I have to go." Caroline saw the panic in her best friend's eyes and knew it was a supernatural feeling. She started running back to the house as Matt watched on in confusion, when Aella shouted back, "And let Caroline drive, that's an order."

Aella sped through the house, and when she heard a crash in the Library headed in that direction. When she arrived, she saw the man from the Grill on top of Damon. With a wave of her hand, he was thrown off of Damon and looked to see Stefan stake the female in the heart. The man seemed to stop as he took in the situation, his friend dead and a witch with the two Salvatore brothers and decided to live.

The vampire turned and hightailed it out of the house as Stefan looked to Aella, "It's the same man from the Grill. Now I got a better look, it is him from 1864, I remember." He looked to the staked vampire, "They were both in the tomb."

"So now we know it is open," Aella nodded.

Damon groaned at the statement, "Yeah... About that."

The couple turned on the vampire, Aella frowned, "Why did that sound like you know something and somehow failed to mention it before you got blackout drunk and nearly slept with my friend's mother?"

"I met with Pearl and Anna," Damon admitted, and when Stefan's eyes widened, he waved off any response. "Yeah, I know, I should have mentioned that too."

Stefan shared a look with Aella before he looked back to his brother, "How many escaped before Bonnie and Aella re-sealed the tomb?"

Damon shrugged, "Pearl doesn't know." He pointed to Aella, "But your blood really did a number on her."

Aella frowned, "In a bad way?"

Damon chuckled, "Well, she nearly tore off my arm when I met with her today..."

Stefan stepped closer to Damon, "What did she say?" He kept the information about Aella's blood locked away to be discussed another time.

"She's got some of the tomb vamps in a little farmhouse outside town, others are still locked away, or have gone off," Damon told them as he looked down at the staked vampire curiously. "She asked about the council if it was still running, names and whatnot... and a list of everyone on vervain."

"Vervain?" Aella questioned, looking between the brothers. "The council? What's her goal here?"

Damon's foot nudged the dead body as he laughed, "What does everyone want if they were forced away, especially 150 years?" He looked to Aella, "They want to go home."

Stefan wasn't too sure, "Is that a 'we want to live peacefully' go home, or is it a 'we want to make the people pay for locking us away and take their lives away' go home?"

Damon pointed to his brother, "Now that brother mine, is an excellent question." He picked up the dead vampire's body to throw it into the large fireplace, "Could you help me out a little bit?"

"Wait," Aella halted Damon and kneeled next to the woman. "We need to know more."

Damon let the body go gently, and Aella took a deep breath, her hand shaking over the vampire's body. Stefan kneeled next to her, "You don't have to do this." He remembered Aella's reaction touching the dead hiker, and that man had only been killed by the trapped vampire. She was now about to be drawn into everything this vampire felt, which would be a lot stronger.

Aella glanced back at him and smiled softly, "We need to know, we can't be in the dark again."

Stefan nodded, and Aella's hand twitched for a moment before she laid her hand on the body. With a sharp gasp, she fell back onto Stefan, eyes closed, and body tense as she fell into the life of Bethanne.
