*Megan POV*
I'm woken up at some point by someone shaking me. I open my eyes and see Chad.
"Hey" he says
"What time is it" I ask
"Um about 4:30. I don't want you sleeping too much or you won't sleep tonight" he says
"Ok. Is dinner ready" I ask
"What you're hungry" he asks
"A little" I say
"I'll go down and tell Fallon and she'll start on dinner" he says
"Ok" I say
He leaves and I lay in bed for a few minutes. I put my glasses on and get out of bed. I grab my phone and see a text from Luke.
L-just stopped for dinner about 2 hours from college
M-ok love you. Tell Brian I love him too
L-will do. Love you
I put my phone in my sweatshirt pocket and go downstairs.
"They're about 2 hours from college campus" I say
"They're making great timing" Chad says
"Yeah" I say
"Dinners ready" Fallon says
I go over to the couch and pick Nick up then walk to the table. I set him on a chair then sit in my own.
"Can I pray" Nick asks
"Ok" Chad says
"Dear Jesus thank you for this food. Thank you for mommy and daddy and sissy and bubbies. Amen" he says
We echo his amen then start eating. Once we're done we go to the living room.
"Chad can you take me to Alan's I need to talk to him" I ask
"Yeah" he says
We go outside and get in the car. Chad drives to Alan's and we get out. We go up to the house and go inside.
"Daddy Megan and Uncle Chad are here" AJ yell
"Ok" Alan says
Alan walks out of the kitchen over to us.
"Hey what are you guys doing here" he asks
"Megan wanted to talk to you" Chad says
"Ok. We can go out back" Alan says
Chad goes over to the couch and I follow Alan outback. He sits down on the steps and I sit next to him.
"So what's up" he asks
"You know when I asked you if things would get better" I ask
"Yeah" he says
"Well thank you" I say
"Why" he asks
"Things have gotten better. I'm sleeping a lot more and my brothers are safe and don't have to be afraid. Luke is at college. I'm eating more." I say
"Megan none of that was me. It was all Chad and Caleb. They care about you a lot. We all do. All I did was tell you the truth. And prayed" he says
"Yeah but still thank you. For giving me hope to not give up." I say
"I'm proud of you" he says
"Uncle Alan what's for dinner" we hear someone yell
"Oh yeah that must be Dylan." I say
"You know him" Alan asks
"He's my brother,Tyler, and Brian's best friend. He also just happens to share a birthday with me" I say
"Ok." He says
We go inside and standing in the kitchen is Dylan.
"Oh megatron what are you doing here" Dylan asks
"Well Antonio I came to talk with your uncle" I say
"Ugh don't call me Antonio" he say
"Why not" I ask
"Because you know I hate being called by my first name" he says
"Well look now we both have something in common" I say
"How" Dylan asks
"Because she hates being called by her first name unless you want to be punched" Chad says
He comes in the kitchen and joins in our conversation.
"Chad right" Dylan asks
"Yeah" Chad says
"You ready to head out" Chad asks
"Yeah. We need to go to Caleb's though. I need to talk to both of you" I say
"Ok. Let's go" he says
"Bye Alan bye Dylan" I say
"Bye Megan and Chad" Alan says
"Bye Chad. Bye Megatron" Dylan says
We leave Alan's and get in the car then drive to Caleb's. We go inside to see Caleb playing Mario kart yet again. I go over and turn the tv off.
"Hey" Caleb says
"Hey Mario" I say
"Oh Megan, Chad what are you two doing here" he asks
"I want to talk to you and Chad" I say
"Ok" Caleb says
Chad and I go over and sit on the couch. I sit in between the two of them.
"Ok what's up" Chad asks
"So a couple months ago I talked with Alan and asked if my life would ever get better. He said that it would eventually. I want to thank you two for letting it be possible" I say
"What do you mean" Caleb asks
"Well during our Christmas trip you two were big on trying to get me to eat and talked with me a lot. Then afterwards you Caleb took in Luke and Chad you took in me and my other brothers. You two have helped me out so much. Because of Chad I'm sleeping about 8 hours or more a day and because of both of you I'm now eating daily. Also my brothers are taken care of" I say tearing up a bit
"Well we're glad we were able to help you" Chad says
"Yeah. I need to be able to beat someone at Mario kart" Caleb says
They both hug me and kiss my forehead.
"You wanna bet" I ask
"Ugh Megan you've spent to much time with Chad" Caleb says
"Well I do live with him so it makes sense" I say
"Oh be quiet let's just play" Caleb says
"Chad you want to play" I ask
"Sure" he says
We all grab a controller and Caleb turns the game on.
"I call donkey Kong" I say
"What ever" Chad says
We start the game and I end up winning.
"That is unfair. Chad kept on pushing me off the cliff" Caleb says
"Too bad. I won fair and square" I say
"I'm going to get you" Caleb says
"Let's go Megan I promised Nick I would read him a bedtime story" Chad says
"Which one" I ask
"Brown bear" he says
"Don't you have that book memorized by now" I ask
"Yes but he still likes looking at the pictures and sitting on my lap" he says
"Ok fine. Bye Caleb" I say
"Bye Meg bye Chad" Caleb says
"Bye bro" Chad says
We go outside and get in the car. He drives to his house and we go inside. He goes up to Nick and Owen's room and I go up to mine. I put on my pjs and lay on my bed. I grab my phone out just as I get a call without looking at caller ID I press answer.
M-hello
D-Megan
M-dad
D-how are you and your brothers
M-we're fine. Why are you calling me
D-can I talk to your mom
M-no you can't
D-why
M-her and grandma are in jail
D-what for
M-abusing me and tying down Nick
D-where are you and your brothers staying at
M-Chad Graham and his wife adopted us
D-well you're coming back
M-no. You walked out on mom and us. You kicked us out of the house
D-you three are coming back. I will file a case of need be. What about Luke
M-he's been adopted by Caleb Grimm and his wife. He's in college right now
D-he's coming back too after college
M-no dad. You can't make us. At least only take me back. Leave my brothers alone. They deserve a good life
D-and they'll get one
M-no dad I'm done
I hang up and put my phone on the night stand. I take my glasses off and set them beside my phone. I turn over on my stomach and just cry into my pillow. After a few minutes there's a knock on my door.
"Come in" I say
The door opens and Fallon walks in. She comes over to my bed and sits down on the edge. I sit up and move to sit next to her.
"What's wrong" she asks
"My dad called" I say
"I thought your mom blocked his number" she asks
"I think he got a new number" I say
"What was he calling about" she asks
"He wants me and my brothers to move back in with him. I told him we didn't want to and that we're already in a loving family. A better one than we have ever had" I say still in tears
"Well what did he say" she asked
"He's filing a case. He really wants is to live with him" I say
"We'll try to make sure that doesn't happen. But you need to tell Chad about this phone call" she says
"I can't. He'll worry to much" I say
"Well you need to tell someone. But you'll have to tell Chad at some point. But please promise me you'll tell at least one of the guys" she says
"I promise" I say
"Good. I love you" she says
"Love you too Fallon. Thanks" I say
"No problem Megan" she says
She gets up and walks out of my bedroom. She closes the door as she does. I grab my phone and scroll through my contacts. I find Joey's name and press call. A few seconds later he picks up.
J-hey Megan what's up
M-I need to talk to you
J-ok I'll be at Chad's soon then we can go to Starbucks
M-ok. I'll be waiting outside
I hang up and go downstairs. I tell Fallon where I'm going then go outside. After five minutes Joey shows up. I go to his car and get in.
"You alright" he asks
"For now" I say
"Ok" he says
He pulls out of the driveway and drives off to Starbucks. We get there and go inside.
"Do you want something" Joey asks
"A hot chocolate please" I say
He orders our drinks. Once we get them we find a table and sit down.
"So what's up" he ask
"I got a call from my dad tonight. He somehow got a hold of me. He told me that he wants me, Luke, and my younger brothers to live with him. I told him I don't want to. That we don't want to. He told me that he doesn't care. He's going to file a case or demand and make it happen. I don't want my brothers to have a bad child hood. I don't want to go back to Pennsylvania" I say tears threatening to spill
"Does anyone else know" he asks
"Fallon. She told me I had to tell one of you guys of I'm not going to tell Chad. And before you ask the reason I'm not telling Chad is because he'll worry to much." I say
"Megan if this does go to court we will be there for you and your brothers. We all care about you. But mostly Chad and Fallon. I don't care what Fallon said at the moment. You need to tell Chad. He wants to help you with all situations." Joey says
"But if I tell him he'll stress about it and try to fix it. He can't fix anything. We'll probably have to go and live with my dad" I say
"Megan talk with Chad." He says
"Ok" I sigh
"Good. You know I love and care about you right" he asks
"Yeah I know" I say
"Good because I do" he says
"Love you to Joe" I say
We finish our drinks then throw our cups out. We go to his car and he drives me back to Chad's. I say thank you then go inside. I quickly run upstairs and to my room. I almost make it but before I can close my door Chad calls my name.
"Yeah" I say
"Can you come downstairs" he asks
"Yeah" I say quieter
I let go of my door handle and go downstairs.
"Ok what were you talking to Joey about" he asks
"How did you know I was talking to him about something" I ask
"He sent me a text to tell me that you had to talk to me about something" he says
"Ok. Well my dad called and said he wants me and my siblings to live with him again and that he will take us to court if it doesn't happen on its own. I really don't want my siblings to have to go. And I don't want to go. But if I had to I would go in place of my brothers" I say quickly in fear of crying again
"Hey it will be okay. If you do have to go to court to talk about this I will go with you. All of us guys will. Now go upstairs and get some sleep." He says
"Ok" I say
I get up from the couch and give him a hug. He kisses my forehead and hugs back. I go up to my room and get in bed. I lay down and I quickly fall asleep.
*Nicole POV*
I'm woken up at 7:30 the next morning to my phone ringing. I look and see it's Luke.
N-hey Luke what's up
L-not much. I miss you and the girls. And everyone
N-we miss you too now what's the real reason you're calling
L-how's your mom
N-I don't know. I haven't gone yet. I don't think she's doing well though.
L-ok. Just pray. It will get better. And Brian and I are here if you ever need to talk
N-ok bye Lukey
L-bye Nicky
I hang up just as there's a knock on my room.
"Come in" I say
"Hey breakfast is on the table. Once you and your sister are ready we're going to go see your mom. Your dad is meeting us there" Spencer says
"Ok" I say
He closes my door and I hear his footsteps going farther away. I get dressed and go downstairs. I sit at the table and eat my food. Once I'm done eating I grab my converse and put them on.
"Ok you girls ready" Spencer asks
"Yeah" Jess says
We go to the car and get in. He starts it and heads to the hospital. We get there and head up to my moms room. We get there and see my dad standing outside my moms room. Jess and I instantly run over to him.
"We've missed you dad" we say
"I've missed you girls too" he sighs
"What's wrong" Jess asks
"Nothing" he says
"Hey uncle mike" Spencer says
"Hey Spencer" he says
We go into my moms room and just sit there. All of a sudden a lot of beeping goes on. A lot of doctors come in and tell us to leave but I refuse. Spencer picks me up and carries me out. I just keep kicking my legs and punching his back. He sets me on a chair and sits on me.
"Spencer get off" I say
"No. You're going to try and get in the room" he says
Shortly after a doctor comes out and over to us.
"She went into cardiac arrest. Her heart failed again. We couldn't save her. I'm sorry" he says
He walks away and Jess starts crying. I just sit there. I don't move. I don't shed a single tear. I just sit there and stare at the wall. Spencer stands up and goes over to my sister. A little while later my dad takes Spencer aside to talk to him. Ten minutes later Spencer comes back but my dad is no where in sight.
"Where's my dad" I ask
"His job relocated him to Washington, D.C.  He didn't want to take you girls with him so I'm now your legal guardian" Spencer says
"We lost our mom and now our dad leaves us." I say
"It will all get better" he says
"Yeah right" I say
"It got better for Megan" he says
"Let's just leave" I say
"Ok" he says
We stand up and picks Jess up we go outside and to the car. Once we get home I run up to my room and lock the door. I pull my phone out and FaceTime Brian. He picks up and studies my face.
"When" he asks
"Fifteen minutes ago. Heart failure. Dad then left us for his job. Spencer is now out legal guardian" I say
"Ok. Love you sis. It will be okay" he says
"Love you too" I say
I end the call and go over to my window and sit on the widow seat.
*Spencer POV*
Once I have Jess settled down from crying I go upstairs to Nicole's room. I knock on the door and no answer. I try a few more times and there's still no answer. I jiggle the handle to find out it's locked. I go downstairs and pull out my phone. I create a group chat with the guys and Megan and Casey.
S- I need help
Ch-with
S-Nicole locked herself in her room
Cal-what happened
S-her dad walked out and made me their legal guardian right after their mom died from heart failure
Cas-I'm coming over
M-me too
J-I'll drive you girls and try too cheer Jess up
S-thanks guys
I put my phone away and pace back and forth waiting. They finally get here and the girls go upstairs and Joey goes to the living room. I go outside and start walking down the sidewalk.
*Casey POV*
We go up to Nicole's room and I unlock the door using a Bobby pin. We go in and sit next to her by the window.
"We heard" Megan says
"How did you deal with it" she asks us
"Surrounded ourselves with people who love and care about us" I say
"I don't think that's going to work for me" Nicole says
"Let's go on a run" Megan suggests
"Ok" Nicole says
"Alright. Only if it's not only sidewalk. I want to do grass and gravel too" I say
Nicole changes into her nikes then we go downstairs.
"Joey we're going for a run" I say
"Ok" he says
We go outside and start running. I find my jogging playlist on Spotify and turn it on. I then to the volume all the way up.
"Megan I still think you and Dylan should date" Nicole says
"Yeah" I agree
"Well who are you going to date" Megan asks
"Myself" I say
"I'm already dating your brother" Nicole says
"How is yours and Luke's relationship going?" I ask
"Good. I love that we can be away from each other and not have to be clingy or possessive" Nicole says
"Woah big words" Megan says
"I know" Nicole says
"Now back to Megan and Dylan. I can tell you like him. Even if you deny it" I say
"When pigs fly" Megan says
*Dylan POV*
I go over to my Uncle's office and knock on the door.
"Come in Dylan" he says
I go in and sit in a chair.
"What's up" he asks
"Can you drive me over to Chad's please? I need to ask him a question" I say
"Sure" he says
He stands up and grabs his keys. We go to his car and get in. we get to Chad's and I go up to the door. I get there and knock on the door. A few seconds later Chad opens it.
"Hey Dylan Megan's not here" he says
"That's okay. I want to ask you something" I say
"Okay come in" he says
I go in and we go to the kitchen. I sit at the table and he sits opposite me.
"What can I do for you" he asks
"So I've known Megan for a while and I got to know her really well. I wanted your permission to ask her to be my girlfriend" I say
"Of course. You're a great guy and I trust you to treat her right but one wrong move and Luke and I will be your worst nightmare" he says
I nod in understanding.
"Thanks Chad. Bye" I say
"See ya tiny Alan" he says
"Really" I ask
"Yes" he says
I go outside and back to Alan's car. I get in and he drives back home. I go straight to my room and start planning how I'm going to ask her.
