It was the month of May and in most of the schools and colleges of Erthington, California, it was officially vacation time. Erthington itself was a small but attractive tourist spot. Be it for a simple barbeque party on the beach or spending a week in the beach houses, this place always dragged visitors from neighboring towns.
Brittney's parents owned a restaurant near the beach and during summer, the place accumulated so many customers that Brittney had to help her parents occasionally. This year, however, she was willingly spending more time in there than ever before.
It felt essential for her. She was not sure if she could come back from Seattle next summer for vacation. In fact she was not even sure when she'd come back to Erthington again.
Seattle was almost 2,300 miles away, it took a four hours flight to reach there from California. The worse thing was, she was afraid that all these distance would take her away from her parents, Annabel, Katherine and the town itself.
The thought of settling down in a new place away from home scared her like everybody else. But the thought of losing all that she had in Erthington scared her more than the possibility of what awaited in the University of Washington.
She was the kind of person to whom relationships and bonds meant more than life itself. To her, that was the sole reason of living in life.
Whenever she'd think of this, she would remember the words Adams had texted her a few days ago:
My friend is in a different college
busy with his own life.
This was exactly what she was concerned about. She was afraid that the town, where she was born and brought up, would forget her. She feared that she would let loose the bonds she had with her parents, the town, their restaurant, Katherine's shop and so much more.
Remembering Adams, she decided to call him while getting bored on a Saturday morning in the restaurant. The thought of hearing his husky voice again made her excited and happy.
She opened the contact list on her phone and started swiping through the list. Her fingers stopped abruptly at the word 'Adams' and age quickly pressed the disk button.
She wasn't comfortable with saving his name as Michael, so she had settled with 'Adams'.
Calling 'Adams'...
After multiple rings and calling him twice when he picked up, his voice sounded everything but deep and husky. It sounded so different that she even felt someone else was on the other side.
"Hey, Adams?"
"Brittney..." He paused for a while. "Look, I am really not in a mood to talk right now."
She was astonished to hear such a response. However she noticed his voice seemed to be trembling and it sounded rather anxious and broken, as if he was crying.
"Hey, are you okay? Is everyth-"
"I am...I am really busy right now. Okay? Please. Don't call me."
He hung up abruptly, leaving her dumbfounded. So even though a customer was calling her, neither her ears nor her mind could hear any of that. She was only desperate to find out what was wrong with this boy.

Another exam on Saturday, so I am kinda desperate to finish typing this out and open a book.
Vote, comment, and share.
On another note, I was tagged by Zoyastypahormalikson for this. At first I was a bit taken aback, but it was rather fun. So here we go....
Thirteen things about me...
• I am a left handed person, which cunningly indicates creativity.
• A huge fan of literature (quite obvious) and music.
• My most favorite authors are John Green, J.K.Rowling, Meg Cabot, Jane Austen, Victor Hugo among many others. My all time favorite poets are Robert Frost, William Wordsworth, Emily Dickinson.
• I am a hopeless dreamer who fantasizes about the future and a prince charming (yes, you read it right).
• My most favorite singers/bands are John Mayer, Adele, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Cyndie Lauper, Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Madonna, Backstreet Boys, Hannah Montana (yes, not Miley), One Direction, Selena Gomez and the list goes on...
• I wish to become a published author someday.
• If anyone comes across an extra ticket of a Roger Federer Wimbledon match or of any other Grand Slams, please consider to contact me. Pretty please?
• I've cried watching/reading movies/books. TFIOS reference?
• I love dancing and sketching as well. Creativity is the key word of my life.
• I am a funny person outside, but at the same time I am quite sensitive and short tempered. I like helping people and sympathize with them genuinely. Funny fact- once I cried like a fool at school because my friends told my sister about my crush!
• I wanna travel to Europe some day.
• I used to work for a students newspaper.
• Lastly, I believe in infinity. I believe we all have infinite potentials in ourselves. All we need to do is believe. It's true. If you can have faith that you can do it, and imagine having done it already, you will succeed.
Ref- Secret/Rhonda Byrne. It's an awesome book. Read it someday.
Now! I have to tag a few others. But it's completely okay if you cannot.
