felix's pov

We sat down at the table and waited as my mom sliced the white-frosted cake. She passed each of us a plate before she served herself.

"Have you decided, felix?" Changbin lowly asks then shovels another forkful of cake into his mouth. He smiled slightly and savored the sweet cake he was given.

"Have I decided what?" I wondered aloud and gave Changbin a confused glance. I moved my fork around my plate nervously.

"Who gets to be your guardian." Hyunjin continued for Changbin. "A human usually only has one guardian— a guardian angel."

"I was sent both of you, I'm gonna guess that I need both of you." I reasoned with a small shrug. I pushed some of my hair behind my ear.

"That's preposterous! Why in hell would you want to keep him." Changbin snarled and shattered the glass he was holding in his grip. My eyes widened as he carelessly dropped the shards of glass onto his plate. He calmly wiped the blood from his palm onto his crimson suit jacket.

"You're a demon! Humans grow up fearing demons and praising angels! Why would he go against his human nature and choose you?" Hyunjin questioned as he harshly slammed his hands on the table.

"Because I can protect him better! I'm taught offense— how to kill any threat! You're taught defense— you only kill once they hurt you first!" Changbin yells, his face turning red from anger. He stood up from his seat beside me and leaned over the table, getting close to Hyunjin's face.

"Can I say something?" I quietly asked before getting a loud chorus of "No!" From both guardians.

"You'll regret that." My mom spoke in a sing song voice to the pair of loudly arguing males.

I quietly rose from my chair and tightly grabbed both guardians by an ear. I pulled hard until I heard them start whining and apologizing. I moved each of them to sit back down in their chairs. Both guardians looked at me pouting.

"I am the human you both were sent to guard. Both. You two need to either get along or tell your senders I refuse you." I snapped and looked both of them in the eye.

"If you refuse us—" Hyunjin began.

"It'll be a death sentence!" Changbin finished.

"I know. It's either get your acts together, or watch me save myself— alone!" I finished. I looked at them both deathly serious. I narrowed my eyes and raised my eyebrows.

"Then what'll you do?" Hyunjin finally asked after a moment of somber silence. His finger circled around the lip of his clear glass of water as he looked down at the table.

"Hyunjin isn't allowed in hell and I'm not allowed in heaven; how will you spend the month with us?" Changbin asks, slightly confused how this all could work.

"It's rather simple really— I'd have expected one of you to have thought it up first with how much wisdom you've gained with age." I dryly laughed as I watched their mental gears turn.

"You two don't have a clue what I mean, do you? I will spend two weeks with each of you separately in heaven and hell. Two weeks with each of you makes one month of getting to know each other, right?" I smiled.

"Then who will you go with first?" Changbin asked, finally raising his head to look me in the eye after being scolded like a child.

"Changbin, you appeared first, so I'll go with you first." I concluded and began to clean up the shards of glass from in front of Changbin. I threw away all of the shards from the table then pulled a First Aid Kit from under the kitchen sink.

"Really?" Hyunjin whined and looked at me with puppy eyes. He gently grabbed one of my hands with both of his and tugged lightly.

"Really?!" Changbin exclaimed with a grin. He forgot his right hand was wounded until he began clapping excitedly. He hissed slightly from the pain and he cupped his right hand with his left.

I chuckled lightly and shook my head. I sat back down beside Changbin and opened the clear case of medical equipment.

"This may sting a little." I muttered as I found a pair of tweezers to remove the smaller bits of glass stuck in his hand. I softly held one of his hands as I carefully made sure each fragment of glass was removed.

I could heard Hyunjin lowly mumblng jealously from the other side of the table. Changbin also seemed to hear it as he moved closer to me, edging Hyunjin on.

"You know beings of heaven and hell heal quickly, right? This is pointless!" Hyunjin exclaims and hits the table again, a large crack appearing in the dark wood.

"Helping someone is never pointless, no matter the circumstance." I replied and focused closer on cleaning Changbin's wounded palm. I pulled out a small bottle of rubbing alcohol and unscrewed the cap.

"That stuff burns though!" Changbin whines and tries to pull his hand away from mine.

"It's not that bad, mr big bad demon." I state and pour a little over the cuts. As the alcohol touched each wound, they closed up completely. I smiled to myself at my handiwork and mentally patted myself on the back.

"All better!" I grinned and laced our fingers together. I patted the top of his hand with my other one then looked him in the eyes.

"Thank you, felix." Changbin smirked and loved the sight of a fuming Hyunjin. To push Hyunjin even further over the edge, Changbin placed a quick kiss on the back of my hand before he smiled at me.

"Go ahead and pack your bags, felix. I'll inform Lucifer of your soon arrival then come back to pick you up!" Changbin says smoothly then disappears in a cloud of that same black smoke from before.

"Are you sure about this, felix?" My mom asked me as I turned to leave the kitchen. I spun on my heel to face my mom and gave her a kind smile.

"I'll be okay, mom. I always am!"
