Walking down the shop lined streets

Cars sweeping past, frenzied honking

Watching as your shoes step on the concrete

Stars above and the traffic's ring

A city of rainbow lights in the darkness

You see Pizza Hut down the road

The scents making you hungry, more or less

Striding down the gold lined M. M. Alam Road

Such a romantic setting with the street lamps

Of modern neon lights lighting historic buildings

Such a sight surely printed on stamps

Lights reflecting off puddles of rain that brings

Nostalgia of when you were young

When you were too young to notice worldly beauty

When you had you still clung on

Disney movie scenes and going to parties for tea

You walk between two large building walls

And think of what the sight looks like in daytime

Watching the street as the Lahore rain falls

As the rain falls with rhythm and rhyme

The walls with peeling paint and scarred surfaces

With layers of history hidden in its layers

Of dust and grime as the traffic progresses

You think of the balcony arches as the traffic occurs

Of the plants hanging down the railings

Climbing up the walls covered with mosaic designs

The smell of samosas fill your nose, so luring

Steam breathing on your face, in a shop coals shine

Gol gappay stands in a corner, aromatic scents

You envy as people walk away with napkins

Napkins filled with the goodies, looking so content

Walking away with baskets filled to the brim

And a motorcycle carrying two screeches past

Over the rooftops you see the minar e pakistan

Towering in the night sky, a sight not to last

A glowing column of changing lights as it stands
