Unit 24: Planning
So, after school, I took Allois with me. We packed up and, sure enough, Lite was there to pick us up and drop us off to Rogue's house. Wait. Did I say house? I meant mansion. Supposedly, after Krone was killed in her first house, her parents were afraid that his spirit might have stayed there. They decided to move... to a freaking castle.
Rogue greeted us infront of the fountain in her driveway. "Welcome! Welcome to my humble abode!"
Humble my foot. "Are your parents okay with this?" I asked, clenching my bag.
"Of course," she exclaimed, leading us inside. "They're the ones who came up with the idea. We'll only provide your home until this is all over. At the end, we'll return you home and explain everything to your mother. For the meantime, we sent her on a spa vacation so that she shouldn't worry."
Zoelle came from one of the rooms. "In other words, she knows that you're safe and here with Rogue's family. However, she doesn't know that what you're doing may be dangerous."
Rogue turned towards me suddenly. "Didn't you have detention today? After school?"
I felt my blood drain. "U-uhh... Yeah.... Crap."
I can't believe I forgot! Even when my teacher is that freak scientist! How did I manage to forget? Actually, I somehow managed to forget a lot of things. It's the side effect of having the Severed Spirit inside of you.
Lite shrugged behind me. "It's too late to go back now."
"Yeah," I agreed. "I'll apologize tomorrow."
Allois kept quiet, but by the look on his face, I could tell that he was surprised about me getting a detention. I should tell him that my teacher is a possible psycho. I mean, what kind of teacher mumbles to himself inaudibly during class while staring at one of the students? Well, we entered the guest room that Zoelle fixed up for us, left our bags in a corner, and we all gathered around a table.
"Okay," Rogue began to speak, "what should we do about those odd scientists?"
Zoelle's eyebrows scrunched up. "Also, there are the Guild Matriarchs. there's no doubt that they're planning something secretive behind Garett's back."
"Wait," I said. "Who's Garett?"
Rogue scratched her head. "You know how the 'Guild Matriarchs' is the most important guild in the Morphix World? And you know how they won the favor of the most important man in the Morphix world? Well, Garett is that man."
"So...he's the most important man...huh? Who's the most important woman?"
Lite and Zoelle pointed at Rogue. "That."
Rogue thrashed at them. "Did you just call me a 'that'?!"
I sat in awe. Why didn't I know this before? "She's...Rogue?"
I thought about the people of the guild after I asked how she became the leader of that guild... 'Because she's strong', they had replied before I knew about the artificial Morphix. Then, I remembered that Rogue and Cartis mentioned Garett in the past, before we went to that one meeting. 'I don't even know why Garett wants you over every so often,' he had once said.
Zoelle pushed out the topic. "Anyways, how do we get Astlyr to stop taking Ace's memory?"
The room was quiet for a bit until Allois spoke up. "Why don't we just remove Astlyr?"
Rogue jumped up at the suggestion. "Are you crazy?! It hurt Amus enough when Astlyr's soul was torn in half. How do you think it'd be if he was permenantly removed from his body?"
Lite tapped his chin. "What's so wrong about Astlyr being removed from his body besides the fact that Amus would get hurt?"
Rogue replied, looking as if she were about to tear her own hair out. "Astlyr may wreak havoc. I mean, what else would you do if you're able to fight the people who gave you awful memories? After all, Astlyr is like a car and memories are its drive."
"Not only that," Zoelle added, "A man who's that angry is most likely able to be manipulated easily. If he bumps into the wrong person..."
"Okay," I sighed. "Then, what are going to do?"
Lite looked down for a while. "I don't think there's much we can do..."
Rogue stood up. "We'll just have to wait and see." She nodded towards Zoelle and Lite. "It's getting dark. You two should head back now. Bye."
We said our goodbyes as I unpacked. Al and I had dinner with with her family as we got ready for the new day. Rogue and I walked together, dropping Allois off at his school. I left to my science class in the morning to apologize to that odd science teacher of mine. Mr. Fraut stood at the side and turned around slowly, angrily looking at me.
"Hey. Good morning, Mr. Fraut," I greeted. "Sorry for not being here yesterday. I'll be here today after school, so... See you later."
I turned to the door and opened it. At least, I tried to open it; locked. When I turned again to face Mr. Fraut, he was already very close to me. He slipped of my bracelet-gun from around my wrist and put a cloth over my mouth. Chloroform. How did I know about it? He brought some to school with him yesterday and taught us a bit about it. He had a good grip on me for what felt like hours. I was --am-- weak.
Then, Rogue broke into the room by bashing in the window and slipping her arm in to unlock the door. I just saw her struggling and fighting him as the world around me slowed and I drifted into a sleep. The last sight I witnessed before passing out, was Mr. Fraut taking Rogue's ring, the Philosopher's Stone, and pinning her against the wall with her own naginata.
