Prologue III
Yin and Yang were often looked upon as symbols of life. Symbols of eternity. Symbols of Equality.
Azulnatto and Rojonas were Yin and Yang. The fierce team, fire and water. The perfect allies, the perfect warriors on the battlefield.
But that all changed.
"Rojonas I'm sorry," Tears streamed down the blood streaked face of a woman. In her arms lay a person barely able to open their mouth to reply.
"It's not your fault, Azu," Rojonas choked out as blood leaked more from his chest. Being the idiot he was he had taken out the arrow which had pierced him- making the wound worse.
"If I hadn't been so distracted by Karthika you could've been ok," droplets and droplets fell onto the boy's shirt as Azulnatto wept. "Stupid war, stupid Lunova, stupid-"
"Azulnatto, I want you to listen to me very carefully." Rojonas croaked out, cutting her off. "Go back to my clan and tell them their founder is dead."
"ARE YOU STUPID?" the girl screeched. The war raged in behind the stone wall which securely hid the grieving woman.
"Tell them it wasn't your fault," Rojonas started to close his eyes. "It's not your fault. We went into war knowing consequences, and we hold responsibility for our own actions."
"But I'm not ready for you to go yet," Azulnatto sobbed. "Remember you said you'd be there for my wedding? And you'd be there to spoil my kids? And you'd be there calling me stupid when I was old too? You have so many things-" Her eyes widened as his closed, and she started to panic.
"Hey, don't close your eyes," she lightly slapped his face. "Don't you dare-"
"You were the most valued friend I ever had," Rojonas smiled weakly. "Win this war for me, and don't blame yourself for any of this."
"What do you mean "were?" I still AM your most valued friend because you're NOT going to die, you idiot," she said. Azulnatto soon realised he had not replied for over twenty seconds, and a fresh line of tears started flowing down her face.
"Wake up," she murmured, shaking his body, unable to process the fact that her best friend had passed away in her arms. And it was all her fault.
After Azulnatto and Rojonas warriors beat Lunova and they fled back to the equator and the battlefield had been cleaned up of dead soldiers, the funeral for Rojonas's god was held.
Nobody could bear to see Azulnatto cry during the cremation. It felt wrong somehow, as if Lunova had somehow still won in some cruel twisted way. They were physically injured, but they had mentally injured their opponents instead. Who would lead Rojonas to battle now? Without a god, what was a clan?
Soon, people started blaming Azulnatto for things she didn't do. Some even went to an extent to say she had killed him herself. And she didn't interfere- blaming herself was the only option. Infact, if she had been side to side with him, she would've gotten shot instead of him. She had a celestial descendant, a daughter who could take her position if she died- he did not have a son.
And thus started the war between the water and fire- the one which was not meant to be.
