• Water That You Cannot See •
"Sorry I'm late," Amphitrite said as she raced to Luke at the edge of the pond. She was out of breath and she paused as soon as she reached him, trying to regain her breathing. Luke only smiled. "It's alright. Tardiness is not something I am overly fond of but it's something I can excuse this once. See to it that it does not happen again." Amphitrite nodded once she was able to catch her breath. "Yes master." She replied. "Now, today's lesson is an important one. One you will need to further and deepen your training as a water elemental. Come with me." Luke said as he began to walk away from the pond. He headed towards a forest on the other side of the training campus. The forest was on the edge of their home and training grounds. Amphitrite looked at the forest and then at Luke. Confusion crossed her features. "Master Luke," she began as she followed him closely behind. "If I am learning something so important about my powers then why are we walking away from the water? Shouldn't I train by the pond?" She asked but Luke didn't even tear his eyes from the thick vegetation as he answered. "You will see." He replied sternly. "It will all make sense, I promise, but for now just trust your master." Amphitrite nodded as she followed her master deep into the forest.
Once they were completely surrounded by trees, bushes, and other forms of plants Luke turned to her. "Water is the secret to life." He said as he reached down to a plant that grew bearing fruit. There here generously sized pink fruits growing from it's thick branches. Luke wrapped his fingers around one of the pink crop and pulled it from its branch. "Every single thing must have water if it's going to survive in this life." Luke added and he pulled the fruit into two halves, a liquid like a juice flowed from the two halves of it and dripped onto the forest floor. "All living things are filled with liquid. Without it they cannot survive." Luke dropped the fruit to the ground and gestured to all of the trees and plants. "All of these have liquid in them. You cannot see it. But it's there. And if you are ever in a place where there is no standing water you may need to use it to your advantage." Amphitrite looked around. She had never connected the dots before, yes she knew all living things had water in them, but she never put those thing's together. She looked back at Luke with wide and uncertain blue eyes. "I don't know... I've never used my abilities on water I can't see." Luke didn't seem phased by her answer. "Just give it a try. It's a skill you will need to learn eventually." He said and Amphitrite shrugged. He was right. It would be useful for her to learn how to control water she couldn't see. So she focused herself on a tree, the same tree that Luke pulled the fruit from. She breathed in, then out, and in a swift motion of her hands the tree creaked and groaned as it surrendered all of its water to Amphitrite. She kept her arms outstretched and kept the water suspended in mid air. She looked up at her work in wonder and awe. "I can't believe it!" She said happily. "That's not nearly as hard as I thought it would be!" She added but then her eyes fell to the tree. It had become shriveled up, the fruit on its branches had shrunk down to the size of grapes. The color and vitality of the tree had faded all together and now all that was left was the corpse of a great tree. "Oh no." She said as soon as she realized what had happened. "It will be alright." Luke told her. "It's a shame, but there are plenty more fruit trees out here to provide for everyone. What's important is that you learn this skill."
