• You're Just Like Me •
"You've got to be kidding me." someone's voice filled Amphrite's ears. It wasn't Lukes. No this voice was unsettlingly familiar. "Ben," Amphitrite said as she put a name to the voice, "Shouldn't you be at the lesson? You know, training with your uncle?" Ben scoffed. "The lesson just ended. I was on my way back to my room when I saw you and I gotta say, I really can't believe this." Amphitrite kept her eyes closed and tried to stay with the steady rhythm of breathing she had created. "Believe what?" Amphitrite replied. "This, you're sitting here, learning to breathe, when you should be doing much greater things." "Really?" Amphitrite said, sounding unamused. "And how would you know?" She hissed. Suddenly Ben's voice became quiet but it was closer to her then before. "Because I'm just like you." He whispered into her ear. Even though her eyes were still closed she could feel Ben's warm breath fan across her neck. A shiver went down her spine as she tried to collect her thoughts. "What do you mean?" She could hear Ben walking away from her. She listened to the sound of his footsteps until they were directly in front of her . "We both possess an extreme power, hidden within us. My uncle, Master Luke, warns us against using it. Let me guess, he told you if you didn't learn to use your powers correctly you would become reckless?" Amphitrite was silent as she tried to process everything Ben was telling her. "Typical." Ben hissed. Though Amphitrite couldn't see him she could sense a powerful darkness coming from Ben. There was great conflict in him, that was for sure, but the darkness was winning. And in all honesty, he terrified Amphitrite . "Listen to me, Amphitrite," Ben's voice instantly lost it's sinister and dominant tone as he spoke softly to her. "You are more than this. You are more then just making small tidal waves and breathing exercises. You can do great things, you just need to be pushed in the right direction. Not babied like a new born child. Let me help you." Amphitrite was speechless. She didn't know what to say. It felt almost as if the conflict in Ben was seeping out of him and into her. She didn't like the feeling of being so torn. "Ben I-" She began to speak but was interrupted by the voice of her master. "Ben!" He yelled as he approached the two. "What are you doing here? Your lesson is over for the day. Go rest." Luke ordered his nephew. It was almost like he knew about the discussion Ben and Amphitrite had exchanged because there was a hint of disappointment in his voice. There was a pause between them before Amphitrite could hear the sound of Ben walking away. "Your lesson is over too." Luke said and Amphitrite finally opened her eyes to look up at a stern-faced Luke. "You need to rest as well. I will see you in the morning, Amphitrite."
