Consumed by Darkness

Firstly, I would like to thank KevinSchomaker for commenting this idea. And because of that credit of this chapter goes to him! 😊

There was a scream of pain emitted from a raven-haired trainer. His friends watched in horror as the male trainer screams his lungs out, his voice became deeper and deeper with every passing second until his voice came to the point where it became almost unrecognisable to even those who knew him best.

A dark purple aura surrounded the raven-haired trainer, consuming his body with its power and darkness, bring the brightly spirited and pure victim to his knees as he felt his heart begin to corrupt with darkness and his veins filled with evil.

His friends watched on in horror, each one devastated by the violent event that their eyes we fixed on. But one more than the other, a honey-blonde, female trainer named Serena watched with pure devastation and heart breaking tears in her soul, she couldn't cry, she wanted to but she couldn't. The pure pain her soul was feeling as she watched hopelessly as her crush and hero fell victim to the darkness of Hoopa's Prison bottle as it turn his once chocolate brown eye blood red.

"Ash..." Was all Serena could say under her breath as every last visible trace of Ash disappeared and all that was left was a dark purple aura that surrounded Ash's body which was now kneeing weakly in defeat. It was obvious that the darkness found it hard to control Ash, but in the end Ash's light wasn't able to shine brighter then the darkness that consumed him.

Ash's body weakly stood back up, his body still surrounded by a dark purple aura and his arms swaying weakly as if the body had no current control over them yet. Hope had risen in the both Serena and the two lemon-haired sibling who had witnessed in horror the whole thing unfold.

Ash's tightened his hands into a fist while his head was bowed and faced his hands while he watched himself for a fist. His back was towards the witnesses, but they could still see him form the fist. He looked like he had just gathered full control over his body which only worried Serena as she feared the worst.

"Ash..?" Clemont said with nothing but pure fear in his voice, holding his younger sister, Bonnie close to him in a protective position as he knew that this was no longer Ash.

Laughter was all that could be hear coming from Ash's body, it wasn't the sort of laughter that once filled each of his friends with happiness and melted the heart one inperticual who treasured his laughter and goofy smile more than the rest. No, this laughter was filled with evil and sent nothing but fear through his friends.

"Ash. Is. No. MORE!" A deep evil voice spoke from Ash's possessed body. Turing around to face the three terrified witnesses, revealing his blood red eyes and a gritted grin the would even make the devil himself shiver with pure fear.

But for Serena it wasn't fear that filled her body, more heart break and devastation ran through her veins while her mind refused to admit that the one she loved had been destroyed by this evil presence.

"No... No I won't accept it." Serena mumbled just loud enough for everyone to hear. She believed that Ash was still in there! But maybe it was just a refusal to believe that she had lost him forever. Either or she didn't want to accept loosing him, not since there is still so much she wanted to tell him.

"HAHAHA!" Dark Ash laughed evilly, crushing Serena's heart even more and filling her ocean blue eyes with tears of despair. "Ash is gone! He was weak so I destroyed him!" This only filled Serena with heart broken rage.

"ASH ISN'T WEAK!" She shouted in response, her eyes letting a few tears run freely down her cheeks. "Ash is the most kind hearted person I know! He is brave, kind, determined and NEVER GIVES UP! And that why I-I..." She tried to say but couldn't bring herself to finish her sentence.

"Exactly... weak!" Dark Ash responded with his dark voice. His words crushing almost all hope Serena had left in her.

"ASH IS NOT WEAK!" Serena yelled again, her voice had the essence of sadness in it. She knew Ash was still in there but this darkness was just controlling him. "Ash... If you can hear me, you need to fight back!"

"Pathetic, Why won't you just fall like your fellow friends? Ash is no more!" Dark Ash responded, clearly getting annoyed at Serena's persistence but her determination and hope in Ash was now burning brighter than ever but was just waiting to be discovered and let free.

"Ash... Ash can't be gone." Serena mumbled under her breath, her inspiration, her happiness, her love. She refused to let him go. Her heat was calling out to her, she knew what she was feeling, she knew those feeling and now she knew that this was her only hope to get the one she loves back.

"Your are weak, just like Ash. No wonder you could never tell him." Dark Ash added, his words immediately grabbed Serena's attention. His evil grin grew wider as more tears rolled down Serena's face.

"That's right, Ash knew you liked him. But he didn't feel the same way!" Dark Ash spoke with no mercy, stabbing Serena's heart with his words. Dark Ash laughed evilly while Serena fell to her knees, her only hope, her only remaining light put out but the darkness of heart break.

Suddenly Ash's blood red eyes twitched, turning back to its original colour for a matter of seconds while Ash's light tried to shiny bright again to drive away the darkness. No one however witnessed this as they all had bowed their heads in defeat.

Ash's hands grabbed his head while he battled the darkness consuming him, but he could feel his light diming, his soul couldn't keep this up for much longer.

"S-Serena!" Actual Ash managed to say, his voice was weak and sounded rather painful. Serena raised her head upon hearing her name in Ash's voice, her eyes were all red from her tears of a broken heart.

"Serena! Please!" Ash said, fighting the darkness within while his eyes flickered between his evil Blood Red eyes and his normal heart warming, chocolate brown ones. His flickering eyes could showed the battle between light and dark. It was a battle of will power but it was obvious that Ash's light was slowing fading as his red eyes sustained a longer period of time over Ash's normal ones.

"Ash... ASH!" Serena said while realisation that Ash was fighting back kicked in, she had found new hope, Ash had returned and she wasn't going to loose him this time! She knew she had to help strengthen his soul so he could out shine the darkness!

"Serena... I'm... sorry!" Ash manages to speak while his normal voice faded and returned to the dark one. She was loosing him. It was now or never!

"NO ASH! You can't give up! Ash... I-I love you! I love you too much to loose you!" Serena spilled her heart out, Dark Ash had told her that he didn't feel the same but maybe her words could be enough.

"Serena..." Ash's voice spoke but she could identify if it was Dark Ash or normal Ash due to his head being bowed and his body stood weakly and as still as a statue showing no signs of movement or life.

"Ash..?" Was all Serena could respond with, her heart pounded quicker than it ever had prior. Nothing could match the amount of suspense that was building up in her mind at this very moment.

"I... love you." Ash's normal voice spoke while he lifted his head upwards towards her revealing his chocolate brown eyes, they were filled with water and stared into hers with nothing but fear, like a gun was being held at him at point black range and all he could do was wait for the trigger to be pulled.

Ash's words warmed Serena's heart, she felt complete. Not fixed, no, her heart break was still there but Ash's words had created a new feeling flow through her. Love. Not love for someone but to be loved by the one that you love with everything your own heart can give.

Suddenly the dark purple aura that surrounded Ash's body moved to his chest, making what looked like a purple vortex in Ash's chest. It sucked out of all the darkness out of Ash while his eyes rolled to the back of his head and his body hang by the dark sphere that had formed on his chest. Ash's body looked lifeless, as if as well as the darkness, his own life was being sucked out of his body!

The sight was horrifying and all Serena could do was watch as Ash's lifeless body fell hard on the floor when the darkness fully left his body and returned to the Prison Bottle as it had been defeated.

"ASH!" Serena yelled In devastation, running over to him and bending down to his seemingly soulless body. She placed his hand behind his head, holding it up and placing it just over her lap. She felt her heart being torn apart again, she had finally got the love that her heart had been yearning for only to be ripped away from her!

"Ash..." Was all Serena's heart would let her say. Tears now ran down her face of sadness. But this hurt more than the darkness consuming Ash, no, at least then Ash was alive and was just waiting to be freed. Here there is no fighting it... this is a new form of darkness, darkness not of evil but of only the purest of darkness, death.

Clemont and Bonnie watched from afar, they had known of Serena's love for Ash for a while now, and they could only imagine the emotion trammar that she must be going through at this very moment. The worst thing is they couldn't help her, only Ash himself could heal the break as big as this...

"Ash... please." Serena spoke in a soft, sad, apologetic voice. She didn't want to live her life if he wasn't there to live in it, she didn't want to love if he wasn't there to love her back, she didn't want to cry unless he was there to wipe away the tears and bring happiness to replace the sadness.

Moments passed and still no movement from Ash's body and any hope for him to miraculously come back began to fade with the setting sun the shined on them. Clemont and Bonnie had returned to the Pokémon Centre, giving Serena a moment with Ash to say her goodbyes but they both knew that it may take her a while to do so.

"Please Ash, I love you. Don't let go..." Serena said, she still refusing to accept Ash's death as a part of her, deep in her heart and soul, told her that somehow he was still there even though her mind told her otherwise.

Serena leant towards Ash's face and placed a small gentle kiss on his still lips, though Serena found that they felt surprisingly warm and although it was only a peck it still made her blush a bright pink but also filled her with sadness as he wasn't there to kiss back.

Suddenly, much to Serena's joy Ash's eyelids begin to twitch and his body flinching with short and sharp movements that showed life but showed that he was not fully conscious of what was happening around him.

"Ash..." Serena spoke, her voice soft but it had happiness in it as well as relieve while her heart on the other hand felt warm and began beating not faster but the beats became heavier in her chest. But when Ash's eye lids began to open weakly her heart felt that iy could literally explode because of heavy her heart was pumping.

"Ser-ena..." Ash spoke weakly. His eyes connecting with a pair of happy, ocean-blue ones. Serena had her hands over her mouth. She didn't dare move just in case it broke the dream. That's what this felt like to her, a dream. Not a nightmare more like a dream come true!

Ash raised his hand weakly to Serena's face, placing them on her cheeks while his head still laid on her lap while the rest of his body was still. Serena rested her head into Ash's hand, placing on hand on the other side of his hand so that it had no escape.

Neither moved from this position and no words were said as they were not needed. All they needed was to stare into each others eyes as they said everything that they needed to know. But under the stars that had appeared in the night sky while the two gazed at one another, they moved closer, touching lips and creating fireworks in one another's bodies as they deepened their connection and added more passion and more love.

Consumed by Darkness and resurrected by light. But what was Ash's light? Well Serena now knew as it was the same for her. Their light was love, love that shinned brighter any darkness and love that only grew stronger when they were together and they were together forever.
