No one pov

It had been four days since ash left the little camp, leaving his friends worried. He knew it was wrong. He knew it was mean to his friends, but he had to get his head straight.

He has been feeling... different, wrong, it didn't feel right... but it felt so right too. He couldn't explain it, but he had never had it before. He didn't want to admit it but... he kind of liked it. Being around his friends didn't help at all, worst of all serena, he didn't know why but he felt nervous talking to her now, like he was...trying to say something but he didn't know what.

How could he go back? How could he explain to them why he left when he can't even tell himself?? He sat and waited. He didn't know why he waited, or what he was waiting for, but let's just say... he knew one thing.

He didn't have to wait for long.

At the camp

She was restless, tired, worried, concerned but most of all... confused.

Why did ash go? Where did he go? So many questions unanswered, not even Clemont could answer them... and that was new.

"Where did he go..." she asked herself, an aware of the little electric yellow creature standing behind her, cuddling himself for warmth that he missed.

"Pika pi..." He said in despair, slightly shocking serena.

"Oh pikachu... I'm sure he is fine! I mean... ugh I don't know." She held pikachu close, stroking his fur for comfort.

She stared at pikachu, he was so scared. She has never seen something so cheery to be so... fearful.

She had to do something, if not to help ash then to help pikachu.

So that was what she did.

Back to ash

It's strange. He wasn't bored or sad... he felt like he was supposed to be excited for something, he was expectant.

But then a cool chill ran down his back, was that a water drop?...

No... it wasn't... now it's hot? It hurts... it really hurts... is that...red...

Then darkness

"Sh...ash..ASH!"

He was awoken from his slumber to

1, pain in his back, a burning sensation.

And 2, bright azure eyes meeting his that made all of the pain go away.

"Ash you are bleeding really bad ok, so just turn around, is that ok? Can you do that for me?" She said... it was serena.

His eyes were blurry but he would know that voice from anywhere. He wanted to reply and say that he would do anything for her, but he could only manage a simple blink.

He slowly turned, with serena helping him of course.

"Ok, I need- oh my gosh! Ash.... look I need to take your shirt off ok?" She exclaimed.

But she got nothing in response. He was asleep again.

She stared at his sleeping self, but then to his back again, she knew it was bad... but not this bad.

Blood was oozing out of his wound, out of three long gashes on his back.

"A...Pokemon did this?" She asked herself in astonishment. Why would a Pokemon just... attack? Well that's not what mattered now, what mattered was her helping him.

She ripped off her sleeves and tied them tightly  around his torso to try and put pressure on the wound.

As the blood cooled down, she was now able to wash his back from the red water like liquid that covered him head to toe.

Two hours later

"Ugghhh" Ash groaned in pain as he felt the bright tight pink fabric around his torso.

"You up sleepy head?" Serena asked, smiling slightly to the injured boy.

"Ugh... serena? What are you doing here- what happened? How am I here?"

They were in a dark cave, just light enough to see each other's faces.

" I'm here for you, and... I don't know what happened, I found you like- well, with a massive wound on your back that I had to aid, and I had to drag you here because of the storm." She answered, using hand motions to emphasis her words.

He questionably looked around, and then tried to touch his back but got stopped by serena.

"I wouldn't do that if I were yo-"

He retreated his hand from her quickly.. as if he was... annoyed?

"Hey what's wron-" she couldn't finish her sentence for she got interrupted again by ash.

" I left to be alone, I didn't need your help." He answered with a slightly raised voice.

She widened her eyes and raised her eyebrows.

"Oh I'm sorry for saving your life! Next time I'll just leave you to die why don't I !" She shouted, annoyed at his behaviour.

"I was perfectly fine! I didn't need you to save the day! What do you want? A medal!?" He shouted back.

"No I don't want a bloody medal but a thanks would be nice! Why did you even leave?! Don't you give a damn about your Pokemon that you just left?!?"

"I LEFT BECAUSE OF YOU!" He shouted in annoyance he didn't even know he had... but he regretted his words when he saw his eyes.

"...serena I-"

"No ash it's fine, you know I only traveled 2 miles to try and find you, and then while dragging you on my back, during a storm, go another mile to find safety. But, seem as if you left for four days because of something I apparently unknowingly did, then maybe I should have just left you to die. Oh wait, no I wouldn't do that, because you don't dO THAT TO THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE!! NOW IF YOU DONT MIND, GOODBY-"she was cut off.

He was kissing her, raising his hand to be placed on her face and the other on her waist.

She was shocked. All of her anger faded away, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss.

After what felt like forever they separated, breathing heavily.

Their eyes were linked. Nothing could rip them apart.

Except...

"*clap clap clap* it took you two long enough!"
