(Serena's POV)
You said you'd be back Ash.
You said you would come back.
It's been eight years.
And you still haven't come back.
I'm now living in hell.
Because of you Ash.
Most of my life I've waited for you.
I have a rubbish job and I'm living in a one bedroom flat with only a bathroom, a bedroom, a kitchen and a living room.
Each room is probably the size of a car, a small car.
My job only gives me enough money to rent the house so I hardly eat, I hardly have any clothes.
All you had to do was come back.
And we could live a life of happiness.
You said you loved me.
You said you'd be back.
But you left me with a broken heart.
And nothing else.
I'm now 22.
And you're 23.
Where are you Ash.
Why haven't you come back.
To save me from this endless circle of hell.
I get up from my mattress on my floor and grab my clothes off the top of the door.
I get changed and make my way to work.
I work at an office.
But I earn nothing due to the fact that my work is horrible.
This is the only job that I haven't been fired from.
The rest say that I should go get help from someone.
But no one can heal a broken heart apart from the one who made it.
People can slowly recover over time.
But I can't.
The only way my heart will heal is if Ash comes back.
And doesn't leave me again.
I eventually finish my work and make my way home to my depressing apartment.
I miss the old days.
When I was traveling with Bonnie, Clemont and.
Ash.
He said he loved me.
And then he left.
Flashback
"Ash, please don't leave!" I grab onto his arm and pull him away from the airport.
"Serena, I'm sorry, but I have to go." "You don't have to go Ash! Please don't!" "Serena, I love you, I love you with all my heart so I will promise you something." "Y-you love me?" "Yes."
I leap I into his arms.
"I love you too Ash!"
He pulls away from the hug and stares into my eyes.
"Serena, you know I have to go so I'll make a promise to you."
He pauses.
"I will come back, and then we can live together for the rest of our lives, ok." "Yes."
He leans in and kisses me on the lips.
"That's to remember me by."
End of flashback
I walk into my apartment and close the splintered door.
I look around my house.
It's so dull.
Like me, I guess.
The paint has peeled off so the walls are just a mouldy grey colour now.
The floor used to be a nice brown colour.
Eight years ago.
The furniture WAS beautiful.
I had flowers everywhere.
I still have one.
Let's just say, it died a while ago.
I brought two small chairs for the living room.
One for me and one for Ash.
I didn't want to live in here with Ash but I wanted to buy them so we could take them to our new house.
The chairs black, leather ones and they were really comfy.
My one is now peeling.
It's also really uncomfortable now because all the springs have broken in the seat.
I feel like the pavement is a better place to stay right now.
I can't eat anything frozen because the fridge broke like two years ago and I don't have enough money to buy another one.
I walk over to the small cupboard in the kitchen and grab a box of stale bran flakes.
I pour them into a cracked bowl and sit on the destroyed leather chair.
I look next to me to see Ash's perfect, untouched chair.
The only thing in the house that is not broken.
I finish my bran flakes but my stomach is still grumbling for more.
I eat around two to three times a week because that's all I can buy.
I look at my hands.
They're chalk white and my bones almost stick out of my skin.
Sometimes it's hard to walk and I have to ask for a day off work.
I might as well be homeless.
I stand up but feel really weak.
My legs suddenly give way and I collapse to the floor.
The bowl I was holding smashes on the floor, throwing pieces of China at me.
This was the end of me.
I know I can't get up.
Goodbye world.
You've been great to me.
"I love you Ash." I whisper.
