"And your new Kalos Queen is... Serena Yvonne from Vanville Town!" The announcer's voice boomed. Serena gasped, too shocked to move. The crowed cheered wildly and Aria approached Serena.

"You earned it," whispered the former Kalos Queen. She placed a glittering crown on Serena's head and held out her hand. Serena smiled in amazement and shook Aria's hand. Aria looked up and grinned. "Boyfriend alert," she whispered, winking, and walking away quickly. Serena looked at Aria in bewilderment. Then she heard her name.

"Serena!" Shouted the raven haired boy, running towards her. Serena blushed and glared at the receding Aria. She turned around to greet her friends. Before she could say a word she was tackled by a hug from Ash. He quickly pulled away, seeming embarrassed. Ash soon recovered though and proceeded to spread his enthusiasm. "You were amazing Serena! So were you guys!" Ash exclaimed, looking to Serena's Pokemon. They cheered back at him. "I knew you could do it!" He said grinning.

"Ash, hold up!" Groaned a blonde boy who was struggling to keep up with his energetic friend.

"Hurry up Clemont!" Exclaimed his little sister Bonnie. Finally reaching the bottom of the performance steps, Bonnie jumped up, hugging the performer tightly. "I can't believe you are Kalos Queen!" She squealed, jumping up and down.

"Me neither! Serena laughed.

"You performance was so pretty! I knew you were going to win!" Serena smiled. "Thanks, you're so sweet." "Clemont was so nervous," Bonnie went on, "He was practically hyperventilating!"

"I was not!" Clemont argued, scratching his head.

"Whatever," Bonnie sighed. "Ash and I knew that you would win though, right Ash?" She said.

"You bet!" Exclaimed Ash.

"Thank you all for being so supportive," Serena said, "Now let's go celebrate with some dessert!"

"That was so good, I'm stuffed!" Sighed Ash, picking up his bowl.

"Ash Ketchum is full? This is new," laughed Clemont.

"Thanks so much for the dessert Serena," Ash said, turning to the new Kalos Queen.

"Hm? Oh, yeah, you're welcome," she replied, giving a distant smile.

"Serena are you okay?" Ash asked.

"Yeah I'm fine, I think I just had too much ice cream," She replied absentmindedly.

"But you have hardly even touched it," Bonnie remarked.

"Oh... well, I'm just going to step outside for second, see if that helps," she briskly replied, leaving the room. They heard the door shut behind her.

"What's wrong with her?" Clemont asked, confused.

"I don't know, she seemed fine earlier," Bonnie replied worriedly.

"Maybe it was the ice cream," Clemont mumbled.

"I don't know; I'm gonna go check on her," Ash said, grabbing a jacket and heading out.

"Come back soon!" Bonnie said. Ash nodded and the door closed once again. He looked around, and seeing no one, began to walk.

"Where would Serena go?" He thought to himself. Of course... the park! The Lumiose City Park was Serena's favorite place in the city and the gang went there often. As Ash approached the ornate fountains, another sound mixed with the usual trickling water... crying. Confused, he stepped towards the sound. Rounding the fountain, Ash found a shaking figure kneeling at the stone rim keeping the water from spilling over. Immediately recognizing the girl as Serena, Ash slowly advanced. "Serena?" He said quietly. She jolted upward, hurriedly trying to wipe away her tears.

"Oh my goodness Ash, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there," she exclaimed, sniffling.

"Are you okay?" Ash questioned, sitting down next to her.

"I'm fi-" She began, but another sob escaped.

"Okay Serena, what's wrong?" Ash asked softly, taking her hand. One glance at their hands and Serena began sobbing again. She hugged Ash tightly, not letting go. He, in return, wrapped his arms around her as well. "Shh, it's okay," he whispered while stroking her hair. Ash reached into his bag and pulled something out. It was the hankerchief from summer camp. "You need it more than I do," he whispered and handed it to her with a soft smile. She managed a small smile, taking the handkerchief and holding it close, but her smile did not last long.

"This is what's wrong," Serena sobbed into the handkerchief. Ash pulled away confused, and looked into her shimmering eyes. "I love you too much," but I have to let you go," she whispered, looking down.

"Serena?" He asked quietly, feeling his heart beat faster. "Love? She loves me?" Ash thought.

"I thought maybe, I could go with you, but now..." she began to cry again.

"Serena if you can explain, maybe I can help," Ash said hopefully. Serena nodded slightly and took a deep breath.

"Ash remember how you said that we would always stay friends and keep traveling together?" She said. Ash nodded. "And what do you plan on doing after the league?"

"Well, I will probably go back to Kanto for a bit, then go explore someplace new," Ash replied. Serena clenched her fist.

"Well, the thing is, the Kalos Queen has to stay in Kalos," she whispered. Ash opened his mouth, then closed it again, not knowing what to say. "Ash I would just resign, but-" She started but Ash cut her off.

"No Serena! You can't give up on your dream! You have worked so hard to become Kalos Queen, you deserve to enjoy it."

"But-"

"No buts Serena, you can't give up now."

"Ash I don't want to lose you,"Serena whispered.

"Serena, I care for you too much to just let you go, don't worry," he said, giving her hand a squeeze.

"Ash, what do I do now?" Serena asked. Ash looked at her questioningly.

"What do you mean?"

"You always tell me to follow my dream, but now that I have reached it, what do I do?" Serena asked earnestly.

"Well, that's the good part I guess, then you get to find a new dream," Ash replied. (Guess that movie ;) ) It was quiet for a moment while Serena seemed to be pondering the words. She looked into his deep brown eyes.

"I think I already have," she said, kissing Ash softly on the cheek.

Just. Yikes. That was just... ugh. Whatever, I'm done now. I promise you guys that the rest of them will be better, that was just a trial one shot lol ;)
