(bonus) The Auror and the Healer

A very fluffy and cutesy bonus chapter because I was feeling down these days. I hope you'll like it!! 💖

____

"Win!" Healer Bertha burst into the room, a sense of urgency in her voice, where a five-year-old boy was undergoing treatment for losing his tiny fingers under Healer Win's expertise.

Win turned to her, silently hoping she wouldn't add to his already overwhelming workload. "What is it, Betty?"

She let out a heavy sigh, her expression a mixture of exhaustion and frustration. "Auror Bright is here. Again."

"Again?!" Win groaned, his wand and cotton swabs dropping onto the counter in exasperation.

This marked the umpteenth time this week alone. Considering that Bright had only started as an Auror under Harry's supervision a mere week ago, this frequency was nothing short of astounding.

Over the past seven days, Bright had either stumbled into the hospital with severe injuries or walked in with a pout, sporting minor cuts and bruises. Win couldn't help but wonder if there was some secret plot afoot – one perhaps hatched during a long-forgotten Christmas Eve, almost 10 years ago.

"Merlin, Win, please try to attend to the Auror quickly; we need you in OT 3 too!" Betty whispered, clutching a set of emergency owl posts marked in urgent red ink.

Win let out a weary sigh as he straightened up. He'd been working tirelessly for the past two months, and the emergency department had been nothing short of chaotic. Deep dark circles under his eyes served as a testament to his dwindling sleep. Home had become a distant memory, and quality time with his boyfriend had become a rarity. The only moments he saw Bright lately were when the Auror showed up injured, whether it was minor scrapes or gruesome wounds – it didn't matter. Bright always sought out Win, and only Win, for his care.

With another sigh, Win mentally prepared himself to tend to yet another injury inflicted upon his Auror. Swiftly gathering the required potions and treatment supplies, he hastened his steps toward the emergency room. His footsteps echoed through the empty halls as it was lunchtime, with most healers either in the lunchroom, outside of St. Mungo's, or in the operating theater attending to emergency surgeries. The distance from the children's ward to the emergency room was a mere five minutes, but for a weary Win, it felt like an eternity.

Upon entering the emergency department, his gaze immediately found Bright seated on a bed, surrounded by green curtains. Bright stared at the ceiling in quiet contemplation, his lips formed into an adorable pout. Win couldn't help but admire how handsome Bright still looked despite his injuries, his hand extended upward, displaying a worrying pale blue hue. It was as if seeing Bright again after this prolonged absence was floating in a dream.

As Win approached, a smile began to creep onto his lips, recalling that distant Christmas Eve when Bright had made a promise to seek him out for medical attention. Bright had been such a baby back then – Win's baby.

Suppressing his smile and conjuring an air of stern professionalism, Win approached Bright. "What have you done this time, Bright?"

Bright gave out a smile, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, you know, just a little mishap with a Quidditch broom. Nothing major."

Win shook his head, struggling to contain his amusement. "Alright, let's see what we're dealing with."

However, as Win carefully examined Bright's injury, their smiles faded in unison, replaced by a growing sense of unease. "This doesn't look like 'nothing major' to me," Win remarked, raising a skeptical eyebrow. Worry was now etched across his features.

Bright rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Um, we were trying to extract a cursed broom— not a Quidditch broom as we were falsely informed by the informant— from a Muggle in Hollow Street, and I attempted curse-breaking. The curse sort of... backfired."

"I've repeatedly told you to be cautious, haven't I? Why won't you listen?" Win sighed in exasperation, his voice tinged with frustration. He couldn't help but think about the dire consequences that could have befallen Bright due to his reckless actions. Bright could have lost his life, for Merlin's sake – a thought that shattered Win's heart into a million pieces.

Bright, seemingly unfazed by Win's nagging, smiled fondly. There was something intimate about the way Win scolded him, almost domestic.

"I'm sorry," Bright mumbled nevertheless, locking eyes with Win.

Win remained silent, turning away to prepare the necessary potions and treatment supplies. The rest of the treatment passed in silence as Win expertly applied ointments, administered potions, and mended minor injuries and fractures with precise spells. Win avoided meeting Bright's gaze, even though the latter watched him intently.

"Win," Bright began, his voice soft and sincere, "I'm sorry, my love. Please, talk to me."

Win looked up, tears welling in his eyes. He had witnessed Bright's injuries and provided treatment countless times, but deep down, only he understood the turmoil he experienced every time he saw Bright in such a condition. Bright didn't always grasp the emotional toll these incidents took on Win; sometimes it was all fun and games, but not always.

"Why should I? Do you even care about me? About how I feel when you walk in here injured?"

"But—"

"You missed me, didn't you? If you missed me, you could have walked to my office for a lunch date or something in our lunchtime or i could've gone out to yours? There are so many ways to meet, Bright, did you really need to harm yourself to get my attention?" Win's voice cracked, tears streaming down his face.

The commotion in the busy emergency room had turned their way, with curious patients and healers glancing at the emotional outburst. The room momentarily fell into an awkward silence, though most returned to their tasks soon enough, leaving Win and Bright to sort out their feelings in private.

Bright, showing remarkable speed, stood up and enveloped Win in a comforting hug, running his uninjured hand through the healer's hair and soothing his sobs. "I'm sorry, my love. I had no idea it was affecting you like this. I'm such an idiot."

"It's a good thing you realize it," Win sniffled, still complaining.

"I promise I won't do it again," Bright vowed.

They held each other until Win's sobs subsided. "Are you okay now?" Bright asked, his concern evident.

Win nodded, his voice shaky. "You could have told me the second time you came in with an injury that you missed me. You didn't need to hurt yourself just to see me, you know?"

"I didn't know you were so concerned," Bright admitted, "I thought you enjoyed it."

"Do I look so heartless?" Win grumbled, looking away.

Bright's heart raced as he gently took Win's hand, shattering the healer's concentration. When he looked up at the Auror, he found Bright gazing at him with an intensity that seemed to radiate pure affection. Bright's eyes sparkled like twin stars, their glow reflecting in the center of Win's soul.

Win, about to question Bright's intent, found his words stolen away as Bright whispered, his voice soft and vulnerable, "How did I get so lucky to have you in my life?"

Win paused, his smile slowly spreading as he gazed at the man he loved, feeling as if he were seeing him anew after far too long. His voice caught as he asked, "What's come over you all of a sudden?"

Bright's answer was equally tender and heartfelt. "Nothing, Win. I've just realized I love you more than I ever did."

Win shook his head affectionately, his cheeks flushing with warmth as he allowed himself to forget the earlier disagreement. Who could blame him, after all? He had been terrified for Bright's well-being. He shook his head again and said, "Bright, I love you too."

Their eyes remained locked in an unbreakable bond, and in that moment, the world around them seemed to dissolve. They were the sole occupants of the universe, connected by the unbreakable thread of their love. Their relationship had been through countless storms over the years, but through it all, they had always found their way back to each other.

With emotion quivering in his voice, Bright finally found the courage to ask the question he'd been holding onto for so long. "Win, there's something I've wanted to ask you for a very long time now."

Win's heart skipped a beat, smile falling as the weight of what was happening settled in. He had been eagerly awaiting this moment, and now it had arrived.

From his pocket, Bright produced a small velvet box and opened it with trembling hands. Inside lay a breathtaking ring, its sparkle mirroring the innocence of their love.

Tears welled up in Win's eyes once more, but this time they were tears of joy, not sorrow. Memories of their journey together rushed to the forefront of his mind: the staircase where he'd first had his heartbroken and Bright being the one comforting him, the time they'd partnered up for their first potion class, their competitions on the Quidditch field, their unforgettable first date, their first kiss, and the countless moments that had led them here. To the now. It all swelled up inside him, rendering him speechless.

Overwhelmed with emotion, he finally nodded, unable to find his voice. Bright beamed as he slipped the ring onto Win's finger, its fit as perfect as their love.

The treatment room seemed to bask in an ethereal light as they held each other tightly, their shared sobs of happiness echoing within the space. In that moment, there was nothing else in the world but their love, too powerful and profound to be contained by words alone.

Bright held Win even tighter, and they finally let go of each other. Win, with flushed cheeks and tear-streaked eyes, regarded his boyfriend – now fiancé – with a mixture of adoration and relief.

The onlookers who had paused to witness their emotional moment returned to their duties, leaving the room in its chaotic state due to incoming patients, but not without grinning or clapping or cheering for the young couple. The cheers and applause from their colleagues and patients to ring out in every corner. "Congratulations, Healer Win and Auror Bright!" Win's colleagues chanted too.

Both men blushed deeply, their smiles almost painful from the sheer intensity of their happiness.

As they exited St. Mungo's later that evening, Win turned to Bright. His most recent operation had been a long and arduous one, nearly draining the hope of the healers until, miraculously, everything had fallen into place, concluding in success and that had filled him with much more happiness. He could probably die a happy man.

"Was this your plan all along, Auror Bright?" Win inquired, half-smiling.

Bright grinned cheekily. "Well, mostly. The only unplanned part was you crying – not tears of joy."

"I was scared and frustrated, okay? And if you haven't figured it out yet, you can be a complete pain in the arse!" Win retorted.

"That, I am," Bright winked, earning a playful smack on the back of his head from his now-fiancé.

"I suppose I'll have to get used to calling you my fiancé for now," Bright mused, chuckling softly. "Until we can change it to 'husband' one day."

Quickly intertwining their fingers, he pulled Win closer, prompting a bashful grin from the healer.

And so, beneath the starry night sky, Win and Bright embarked on a new chapter in their lives, one brimming with boundless love, laughter, and the promise of a future together that outshone even the brightest star in the sky.
